    Thank you so much I’ve had my cm2 for over a year now and always wished I could assign the flaps lever for my landing gear and never realized that I could.

    Thanks for the video. Helped me get up and flying with flaps now bound to the flaps lever axis.

    Thanks Jon! I was totally unaware of the possibility to have these predefined Axis2Button ranges. You really helped me alot with this one!!!

    Thanks for the explanation Jon. I would like to add a little to it, because at first I could not get this to work. The reason apparently being that I already configured one axis with customizable ranges like this and that was blocking aka occupying buttons the software wanted to use for other specific axes. So I deleted all the references to the physical buttons of the axes concerned ... then set al the 'axis to button (predefined and customisable) ranges' ... then checked which buttons lighted up for the predefined ones ... and only then chose which free buttons to assign to the 'customizable ranges'.

    Jon maybe a dumb question but, could I assign the flaps lever, or the lever center dented behind the throttle to control the rudders in DCS?
    Thanks!

    My Constellation Alpha has default buttons from 1 to 31. I converted the mini-stick axis into 4 buttons, 33, 34, 35, and 36. For physical buttons, it seems that they must be consecutive, you cannot skip physical button locations. Other than that, this is perfect.

    Hello, for a few days I have been a happy user of Virpil HOTAS. I have been able to configure it thanks to your help and your videos. But there is one aspect that resists me, which is to convert the mini stick of the Alpha Constellation into a 4-way hat. I entered the "axis to the bottom" section, but I don't know what to do. Would you be so kind as to guide me? I will be very grateful to you.

    Im failing it. I have the Controler "2" (with the landing gear). And the buttons are different from the Controler "1". Im not sure it's possible to make the 3 little rotators "trim knob" buttons (feel like it can scroll) work as an axis in DCS...I fail to configure them like this, it work only as a button (left or right full on/off) what ever i do. Any idea ? :) Thx

    il-2: BoS question: The control input for flaps in this game is strictly button, flap up and flap down in 1% increments. I have it assigned to a 4-way hat for now and have to hold it while the flaps are moving. Is there a way to make the flap lever work with that game? I can't figure it out and could use some help.

      Let me look into this.

      @@JGandT I looked a bit further into it, flaps react differently on various planes to the flap up/down command. I primarily fly Me-109s and their flaps are actually a trim wheel looking control in the cockpit thus gives 1% increments with each input of the flap up/down input as the pilot rotates the wheel dialing in the desired flap. I tried the P-51 and each input gave a 10% increase/decrease in the flaps. I don't know how the lever axis can be made to work with an unequal system like that unless profiles are created for each plane/group that has a similar flap function. If you're bored or just like challenges I'd say go for it but otherwise I guess the inputs I currently use will have to do. Much appreciate the response.

    Thanks; that helped; I am now able to create one single button hold when I throw the Flaps lever all up to 81%-100%, Perfect ... however when I try to assign this button (in star Citizen) I double click the Spacebreak function (originally assigned to holding x on the Keyboard) to reassign, move the Flap lever up and it detects the Axis movement from the Flaps lever. So what I need in addition to creating a Axis to Button is to remove the Axis from being a logical axis. Is there a way that the CM3 only functions as a button and not has the axis exposed to the Game?

    How can I set an Axis to Button to be recognized as a modifier button like Shift or Ctrl in DCS? This is easy to do in JoyToKey but I can't figure out how to do it in the Virpil Software.

    Great video. Wondering if you can help with an issue I am having with my Constellation Alpha and DCS. The Alpha has a mini stick. I want to use mini stick as a POV hat in DCS. DCS is hot allowing the mini stick to be mapped to control the view direction. Is there a configuration option in the Virpil control software that would let me change now DCS sees the Mini stick?

    • @JGandT
      @JGandT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the mini stick an axis or button? If it’s an axis you will have to go into the axis commands in dcs and make sure the absolute view is either empty or you bind your mini stick to this. If it’s a button hat switch you will need to make sure the absolute boxes are empty. Then you can bind as normal.

    Thanks! I am struggling the other way-trying to change an encoder wheel to a virtual axis. I am trying to use the left wheel on the CM3 to control prop pitch on my GA aircraft. Using the default buttons 2and 3 works but the increment is too small and it takes multiple turns of the dial to cover the full range of the prop lever. Could you do a video on changing the encoder wheels to a virtual axis with the newest software, please? I much appreciate your tutorials!

    • @JGandT

      I don’t think you can set an encoder as a axis I will have to look into it.

    Nice tutorial Jon! For some reason; though, it doesn’t seem to matter how I set axis to button, or what button input I set it for, I have never been able to get DCS to recognize that there is a button input (either on my cm3 or Constellation Alpha). Am I missing something? In the Virpil software it’ll show up as buttons 75-78 (or something like that) but DCS doesn’t think those buttons exist.

    • @JGandT
      @JGandT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you map the physical buttons to virtual buttons. It’s on the right side of the buttons tab in vpc software. There is a list of all the buttons you have to take the button 75 for example and assign it to one of the other available numbers. And save to vpc device. Let me know if this helps.

    • @amd1857
      @amd1857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I’ll try that. This might be a silly question, but does this overwrite or duplicate a different physical button’s function?

      @@psychomantis10122 ok! I see a lot of flap settings for the f/a-18C. You talked about 3 buttons, what dcs controls would you bind to these 3? Auto - Down - Fully?
