Was mostly an experiment I tried - I kept being asked about "starting at 1 and going from there" since the Zettelkasten is meant to be emergent in nature. It just lead to a messy system.
I've been doing Bib cards for awhile in a separate box. I've not find it helpful to file them under the authors last name. They just don't mean anything to me. I focus so much on topics/subjects. I've tried to find something later and not able to find it. I've been doing this for over 10 years now and read lots, with lots of Bib cards. Any thoughts on this? I'm not finding anything online on how to find topics I want to re-read on. Plus, just putting down the page number has not been helpful. I prefer to give away my books later, so that's lost actually. I was a radio talk show host for 15 years and had at least 10-12 books a week coming in to be considered on the show. I never got to read all of them. Too many book shelves and had to cut back after moving from a house to condo. So those page references would require me to buy the book again. And actually I don't want to be doing that. I've been leaving the page references off the past year and making sure my note can stand on its one. Which usually entails more than one card. Any thoughts or experience with this challenge? Does anyone have challenges with either of these?
Personally the reason I write the note pages down is that on the main card itself, it allows me to reference the exact location I got the idea from. It becomes very useful when I am writing because I don't need to spend any time searching for my citation, it's already in front of me.
I’ve just created today an “anti” antinet… 😅 tbh I’m the proud owner of a permanent supporter level account at NeoCities, and I wanted to apply this zettelkasten method with plain individual html files instead of physical cards. (fyi my handwriting is very bad, so…)
