    Never knew why people were so triggered that Millege gave high fives going back to the field, kid was just living in the moment

      I remember Bonds was not happy that Milledge (a rookie) did that. In the post-game interviews (if i remember correctly), he said that MIlledge might have gotten one on his ribs if Mets-Giants played again in 2006

      He was our top prospect at the time and had a lot of hype behind him too. It was only natural for him and the fans to react that way.

      More pro athletes need to do that being honest. Fans paying those ticket prices affords some of these guys 15 to 20 million a year.

    I still cry about this season. This team should have been immortalized. I was at number 3 probably the most exciting game I've ever been to.

    The Beltran walk off home run vs St. Louis and the Endy Chavez catch were some of my favorites

    Prime Jose Reyes was hands down the most electric player I've ever seen. At any moment he could spark a rally and get the home crowd back into the game. And the "Jose-Jose-Jose" chants bellowing down from the upper deck.... what a player.

    No endy chavez catch? I know Mets lost that game, but they also lost the game that Reyes hit for the cycle (Wagner blew the save and game in the 9th)

    Being a Mets fan that year was insane. So many great games played by them. They had an aura to this team that has been unmatched. Really thought that was the year to win it all. A season that is unforgettable. LFGM!

    duuuude finally the reyes inside the park clip. that was the only game I went to in ‘06 and I’ve been looking for that clip for at least a decade now

    The black and blue helmets were atrocious.
    Mets should just wear Orange and Blue.

      The helmets were lame but I like the black hats with the blue brims. But they should have just been an alternate, they should have never completely replaced the classic blue and orange hats.

    Pedro Martinez getting hurt was fatal to this team winning the NLCS.

      I'm not sure tbh. Game 7 was very winnable and the pitching wasn't really the problem. The Mets got shut down and couldn't come up clutch in the 8th and 9th inning.

    That 06 team should have gone and won the World Series, it’s so unfortunate that it didn’t happen. That’s offense was elite.

    This team was so dominant that year... it's forgotten about because they lost in the NLCs, but it was a Great season start to finish
    Honestly 10 moments aren't enough this type of season needs 25

      06 Mets could have won 100 games but they rested alot once they clinched with like two and a half weeks left. In my opinion, out of all the Mets team to make the postseason, the 06 Mets was the best Mets lineup ever (though it could be a tie with the 99 mets).
      Only NL team that gave Mets problems in 06 was the Phillies. And then the Cards in that NLCS 😩

    The ball had barely just landed and Gary Cohen already called the inside-the-park home run, jesus. Reyes when he was young was something else.

    1:57 “AND WE’RE GOING HOME” that call still sends chills down my spine. I remember watching this live. Amazing memory from an Amazin’ team.

    My favorite mets team ever. The only team that ever made me cry. Still get sad when I think about Beltran striking out looking after all that money he got

      Mets lots the NLCS mostly because David Wright forgot how to hit for 7 straight games. I like Wright but he was never clutch. 1 walk off hit in his career.

      Beltran was the heart and soul of that offense. The team doesn't make it that year without him. He earned his more and more.

    David Wright swing was soooo amazing from 2004-2007. But then beginning in 2008 until he retired, his swing got so long (so he can hit breaking pitches better), that he could barely catch up to fastballs. I remembered how many times Keith and Darling made comments about David's swing to not catch up to fastballs beginning in 2008

      @@SmoothCriminal12 I know!! Mets offense smacked Carpenter in games 2 and 6. But Mets offense got spanked four times by Suppan and Weaver. Game 2 is the game that got away

      @@hmhm856 its a reason I dont want the Cardinals to win anything this yr especially with Molina,Wainwright and Pujols in tow till to this day. If only the Mets would have won that NLCS they would have eaten the Tigers pitching in the WS sans Verlander

      @@henrycalde1991 Youre just like me. I hated when the Rangers couldnt beat the Cardinals in the 2011 World Series. And I hated seeing the Cards again make the WS in 2013. And unreal to think that Molina-Wain-Pujols are all still playing for the Cards in 2022.
      And I also hated how the Cards beat the Mets in that makeup game in Shea Stadium in 2007 in the final week of the season (Joel Pineiro game).

    THE 2006 METS HAD AN AWSOME OFFENSIVE BALLCLUB. IMAGINE THEM HAVING THE 2015 PITCHING STAFF OF HARVEY, de GROM, SYNDERGAARD, NEESE. THEY WOULD HAVE WON AT LEAST 110 GAMES, WIPED OUT THE CARDS AND WON THE WORLD SERIES HANDS DOWN.

    Had this team had any real starting pitching they would have been an all time team. 97 wins and went into playoffs with John Maine and Oliver Perez leading the charge.
