Yama Budo is definitely bae. I would consider Diamine’s Party Time a magenta. That stays inked up in my Estie Botanical Garden.

I absolutely love this series and I always get new ideas for inks because of your videos. I love your swatching playlist as well, and love that I can let it play it while I'm journaling or swatching my own inks. I play it often 💖
I currently have about 180 ink samples and bottles in my collection. I love seeing them on paper and figuring out their properties. Shading inks are my favorite because many times I do not have to worry if they dry on the paper from their sheening, or clog the feeds of my pens like shimmer inks do. I tend to write with extra fine nibs most but I do enjoy seeing them swatched in your videos...
I have 2 ink swatching notebooks I currently use; the A5 Tomitaro Makino Hobonichi notebook and a B5 Sterling Ink notebook. I love collecting and swatching fountain pen inks as much as writing with them in my fountain pens...
I see that the Private Reserve Plum swatch feathered on this paper. I swatch my ink samples in the Tomitaro Makino A5 grid notebook and a Sterling Ink B5 Sanzen TRP notebook. I have noticed on my B5 SI notebook that some inks feather... These inks in my B5 Sterling Ink notebook feathered IWI Colors of Nature (Silent Snow & Cold Dew) everytime I swatched them on arrival, and in their color families, I haven't had these inks in a pen. Color Travelers (Sea Eel Rice Beige) not available anymore in the US , Monteverde (Moonstone) only one time in swatching I do have this ink in a pen and it does not feather, Sailor Manyo (Akebi) I have had this ink for a couple years hand have only noticed the feathering once in a recent swatch never in writing...
Love this series, it's a favorite of mine, and can't wait to see what you do next!

I love that you are having such a wonderful time with your inks 🥰 I think the new Sanzen paper (especially that of the Sterling Ink) has a different coating than the Sanzen paper on the Hobonichi. Although I'm not sure if the Hobonichi notebooks are the new TRP or still the old version. I'm finding that the wetter inks are absorbing much faster than they used to. It will be interesting to see how it goes with more color families. 😊

I love this series. I love ink almost more than the fountain pens and for the cost, and you can have so many more samples to try and make decisions... I love that you talk about that in your videos and I suggest it many times when I see someone on FB ask questions...
I think I will continue to keep the 2 notebooks I have (Sterling ink B5 & Hobonichi A5) for my ink swatches. I do like the B5 size better to swatch inks honestly, it is bigger.
I agree that the TR paper seems different in the SI & in Hobonichi notebooks. I am not sure of what version of TR paper Hobonichi notebooks have now either...
If I could suggest any content for you to do: I would love to see you do a Top 5 favorite fp inks of all time video. You could make one or several videos on each color or property of inks... This would keep us ink swatching binge watchers (say that 5 times fast) happy if you run out of ideas for content :D
I also want to thank you for swatching that Papier Plume Moss Green ink. I recently bought a couple samples and I just love having it in my Pelikan M600 Green Stripe fountain pen currently. I may have found the best greeny-browish-yellowy ink for that pen, it’s beautiful. I will be picking up a bottle when it restocks...

Solferino is one of my favorite inks, it lives in my Estie Punch pen. I’ve had it in several pens. It is very consistent, well behaved and stunning.
The Estie Punch and Solferino were TOTALLY made for each other!! That sounds like an amazing pairing. 😊
I own & adore Pride & Prejudice, Beryl, Deep Magenta plus I have added Blueberry Muffin (droolll) . I love Sugar & Spite too but I keep my Ferris Wheel Press purchases to a bare minimum for reasons 😁 Your first Magenta video has many of my favourites too - Yama Budo 💗, Alt Bordeaux, Solferino!!, Lavender & Black. Green inks still call me irresistibly but my second weakness is purple & Magenta. I also love dusty pink & burgundy/wine. I think you covered all in this video - you really are my favourite ink expert ! 🥴😍

I own a couple on your magenta explorations. My favorite magentas are Rohrer & Klinger's magenta, Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Budo and Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses (the original formulation).

Wearingeul's Pride & Prejudice is my favorite ink! It is definitely my go-to when I can't decide on a color. It's sold out on most sites, but still listed on Wearingeul's site, so I'm hoping it doesn't get discontinued. The sheen is just perfect and it looks great in any size nib!

How do you like that sailor dip pen?
I think it is great!! And for the price it is a fantastic dip pen. I'm really happy with the Fude nib since I can test out varying line widths on new inks. It has been helpful in testing what the inks would look like in various sized nibs. 💝
what a lovely selection! 🤩 i’ve never been a magenta person but some of these are very tempting! i’ve had inks that are normally well behaved feather on the sanzen paper. especially if i have written on the opposite side of the same page. it’s a bit disappointing.
Thanks so much! 😊 I have noticed that the Sanzen has behaved a little differently, but I think it is just not as "coated" as the previous TRP.
Long time watcher, first time commenter! I love your ink comparison videos, I always get so many ideas to add to my ink wishlist! 😅
I have and love Wearingeul’s “Cheshire Cat” which seems to be a tiny bit darker and maybe a little more fuchsia than Wearingeul’s “Pride and Prejudice” but looking at other swatches online they look very similar apart from the shimmer in “P&P” (“Cheshire Cat” is a plain but beautifully shading ink). In your video though, “P&P” looks more truly magenta than it does in photo swatches I’ve seen - more red/pink than purple. I might have to check that out!

Interesting, I swatched Kaweco Summer purple with my purple inks...but seeing it nest to the magenta inks is making me reconsider 🤔

What version of tomoe river paper were you using prior to the sanzen? Were you using original tomoe river paper (manufactured on Machine 7 and was readily available prior to 2019) or the reformulated tomoe river paper (made on machine 9 and was what most companies had prior to the Sanzen successor paper)?
I believe it was the Machine 9 version but I'm not 100%.
@@mydandeliondiaries Cool, thank you for satisfying my curiosity. When people speak about the difference with the sanzen I always wonder if they're comparing it to the original TRP or the reformulated TRP.
I recently purchased a little bottle of Diamine Deep Magenta and I inked it in a Twsbi Eco with an F nib. And it's so much more than what it is showing on the Sanzen!!! I am writing in a Hobonichi weeks (so old cream Tomoe River paper) and I can see black sheening on the edges, it's just gorgeous. Bummed that it is not showing on new TM ☹

Good question! I haven't compared them myself, but I think the Little Bob is more purple and the sheen more neon.

I love yama budo and Pride and Prejudice, but I find myself writing more with Pride and Prejudice more. So I am in the camp of buy the Bottle of Pride and Prejudice, you can't go wrong. It is my favorite. I have it in about five pens, I cannot lie. It's one of my top five inks, and it has replaced Yama Budo for me. Thank you for another lovely ink exploration video!

I am curious about B.P.C. Bougainvillea, it's in this color family. Sometimes the swatches on their page look different in person.
I've only mixed it from the Atominks, but yes! It is a lovely light magenta color. A little more purple than the Abigel.

I haven't. I find that magenta and fuchsia can be really interchangeable. Magenta has more of a "red" hue and fuchsia is more "blue." However, they both are "pink/purple." It is difficult to tell them apart in inks for me.

I often get confused over magenta and fuchsia... what's the difference? Pride and Prejudice! I need that, you need that, we all need that ink! 😍🥰❤️
Magenta and fuchsia have very subtle differences. On a technical level, magenta is more "red" and fuchsia is more "blue." They are both pink/purple shades though. Magenta more of a red purple, and fuchsia more of a blue pink. I hope that helps!

Sometimes red flags are magenta. I was gifted "Sugar and Spite" by the person who then sabotaged my relationship. I have a very bizarre relationship with that ink now.
