    I remember declining to buy a 0.5-1.0 tales of suspense 39 in the early 2000s. I was like it’s cool, but it’s Iron man. He is a B-C list character. He don’t want to spend $80 on his first appearance. Then the movies came out he iron man was the biggest character in comics.
    I resonate a lot with what Matt was saying.

    Great video. It is funny just how many different ways there are to collect and the different niches and how you and your collection change through the years. It keeps the hobby fun.

      HazelDan. It certainly does! It's funny...there's certain books that are life keepers; others come and go :-)

    Good discussion Keston! Ive thought about some of these over the years and have wondered what other collectors and dealers look for. Thanks!

      Thanks J. Lentz! Eye appeal is pretty subjective. There's certain defects that don't bother me and others that drive me nuts. That said, I always love to hear people in the hobby talk about what appeals to them.

      Thanks, Chris. Matt and I did a video on rarity, and I thought we needed one on demand to balance it out.

    Great video, thanks for doing this:) . In regards to scarcity, it would have been cool if Matt brought up USA PUBLISHED price variants (i.e., 35 cent, Canadian Newsstand Price Variants CPV, Australian Newsstand Price Variants APV, UK price variants) ,Mark Jeweller, Cover Variants, second printings, multiple Covers, Error issues, recalled issues, Foreign Editions, etc... I guess there's only so much time one can discuss in an interview.

      Thanks, Angelo. Good questions. I haven't Matt specifically about those topics but did create a video on my out about the UK price variants if you'd like to check it out: th-cam.com/video/lLkoOCy2h_A/w-d-xo.html

      Yeah, I love Pickle Hitler too! I was surprised it wasn't a favorite of Ben's...but then again, Ben is a 1938-1940 fan. Thanks for the comment CCG.

    Comics for copyright . Thunder 1 was Whiz 2 went missing twenty years ago from the office. They are still looking for it. Also the Fawcett cut back there books by 75 percent print run on the last 5 issues.

    I think marvel superheroes 18 is super undervalued 1st GOTG for the same reasons as Avengers #1 what do you think?

      You've got excellent taste, Peter. It's a phenomenal underwater scene. For me, it's a toss up between Scoop 2 and Seven Seas 4!

    Well done. Matt has provided some enlightening examples about the comic industry. Nice guy but working for CGC seems to have taken a toll on him.

    Another great video. What you collect is like who you choose to date. Some guys like the skinny girls, big etc. Just enjoy the hobby.

    Always enjoy your videos. I always learn something from you. Eye appeal works both ways: A comic shop nearby has an X-Men #121 in a 9.8, but the cover is slightly misaligned. They want a premium for it because it's a 9.8, but the problem with the cover drops it down to a 9.4 in my opinion.

    • @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842
      @kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, Clint! Great point. It certainly cuts both ways. Especially for a book like X-men 121. If you're going to pay FMV for a 9.8, make sure it's a sharp looking copy.
