Michael - Great video. I replaced the fan and everything came back to life. No fan errors. Count me as one of your "fans".

Awesome video. I followed along with you and it all went super smoothly. I couldnt have worked all that out on my own. Much appreciated 🙏

Michael, that was awesome watching you do surgery on a laptop!
I just got a similar model with the same fan error message and a battery issue (cmos losing date/time and main battery not holding a charge at all). When I have the time I may just attempt to fix this one now that I've seen the disassemble/reassemble process on your video.
Thanks for letting us into your operating theater!

    Hi Michael.
Thank you very much for your good explanation and the movie to replace a fan.
I was able to replace it myself thanks to you.
Greetings from Alouis from Holland. ( Stay healthy)

You can fix that broken hinge with epoxy and then adjust the hinge tension to ease the pressure whwn opening and closing.

Is that an OEM fan? Thank you 🤓 it might be possible to repair the posts where the hinge screws go, but how long it would last is a guess... Got a hold of an HP Pavilion G7 (1269nr) but the bottom cover hinge area is damaged so the screen is a bit loose. Also has the same fan issue as the one you are working on. Is that spilled food on your desk? 😲😱

Hi Micheal, I watched this video many times to change the fan like you teached. I did slow and carefully, but after I done to changed the new fan, and putting back everything, I turned on the power for the first time, the fan running good but the screen was dark, the laptop didn’t work. Then I tried to hold down the power switch to shut down. After few second my laptop shut down, then I try to boot it again, but the laptop can’t boot. Would you please tell me what’s I miss ? Thank you very much.

Open it back up and check everything you moved on the inside and anything around it. Something may be disconnected. Also take out the ram and put it back in. If they get out of alignment it can cause what you're seeing.

on how much rpm should fan run at a normal usage? dont appear any error message about cooling system. Speedfan prog says that mine Hp runs 151rpm and i think that's slow. it is clean though but when i enable Amd graphic driver laptop crashes, when graphic card driver is disabled works fine. Thank you for your time

Hi Micheal, I think my HP Pavilion g7-1033cl looks exactly your HP g7-1317cl. Would you please tell me where you bought the Fan for your hp laptop ? What is the part number ? Because all looks the familiar, I don’t want to order the wrong one then return it. Thank you very much. If someone know, please help me to buy this fan too. Thanks. Lem Lai.

You can find part numbers on the hp parts surfer website or with the service manual be google searching g7-1033cl service manual. The service manual will show you the part numbers of the components in the laptop and how to disable the laptop.
