I just installed 8 of these! LOVE them so far! I am using them with HomeAssistant. I too had the same issues with the matter adoption process but a few retries and factory resets later they worked fine! Btw the power in/out means nothing! I checked the wiring for these two ports when I opened them up to hardwire them in. The ports are just tied together. I think the real reason they list in/out is to stop people from wiring multiple power inputs into each end of the light.
I have mine paired in homekit fine (after several tries each lol) but I'm having a heck of a time using the code generated by homekit to then pair to homeassistant. Starting to wonder if the lights have to be physically told to enter pairing mode somehow. Having said that, the lights look great and probably have the highest WAF of any smart home project I've done in quite some time! 😂
Great video, Stephen! Just wondering if you are able to use both Homekit and the GE Cync app? I'd like to be able to adjust color temperature in the GE Cync app but have Siri and Homekit control as well. Thanks!
If you group accessories and then go into them you can change th colors individually and same thing for automations. I have multiple lights in my room and i grouped them by sections and each light has a different white point so i adjust them.
I absolutely love your informative videos, so my comment about the GE lights will be no reflection against you. I have found their products to be unreliable, bandwidth hogging junk. Setup was always a nightmare, but once installed, they worked great for a while. After a few months my problems began. Short version, automations constantly failed, and my internet slowed way down. There are plenty of them in a Georgia landfill that I eventually ripped out and just trashed (I couldn’t-in good faith-pawn them off on someone). Switched to Philips throughout and will never look back. So those cabinet lights are a hard HARD pass. They look cool and hopefully they’ll work for you. Keep us updated. Maybe if they were Thread enabled too? Thumbs up to you for your diligent work reviewing HK products!!
3:32 this is not correct actually, when you click on the settings icon of the accessory group, near the top the Home app will give you the ability to view the grouped accessories individually within that group, allowing you to set individual colours and brightnesses. You can do this for the accessory group inside of different scenes as well for the themed lighting you mentioned.
@@faradaycool4058Dude, I did. Since he installed it and has been using it, I was curious to get his take on whether he thinks another option would be viable.
Dang, so thick and not discreet, the disconnects and connection issues are also a dealbreaker on top of that. I love the idea, but bad execution by GE in my opinion. Love your channel though! Miss you on the apple insider podcast, not the same without you.
GE makes the WORST smart devices! We had a smart air conditioner and it was constantly disconnecting from our WiFi! When we first got it it took me THREE DAYS before it finally connected to our WiFi…and it was literally four feet from the router!!!

Been using Aqara here in Europe for 3 years and it’s rock solid and very reliable

Great content as usual. I tried Aqara but had to return everything as was very unreliable.

Snagged an M3 hub. Got the U100 door lock, but have been wanting to integrate the hub. Glad you mentioned it!
why not get the newly released u200?
It seems the king term reliably of these light to continue to work is in question, it will take awhile to find out since they are brand new

Great Video as always. Where did you get that watch band?
Your screen shot of this strip lighting doesn’t mention Apple HomeKit, is there a different version for Apple?
Thank you for this video. I installed the Philips hue light strip and I didn’t like it at all
Another great video! Thank you!
Thanks for the add. Just wondering what’s your favorite video doorbell and outdoor video camera for HomeKit?
Stephen are those new frames? I like them! Very unusual and colorful!
What knife is that?
So u think the sale will take the aqara items lower than the coupons on amazon?
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
Eve vs Eccobe? I have a nest now but want to get into HomeKit more
Does the GE lights have motion control?
Too bad they only make the 120V version. Great review!
Matter smart devices save Apple HomeKit 💯
Thanks!

Is drilling required? Would double sided tape work? I’m tempted to get these, but I have no desire to drill through the bottom of my kitchen cabinets.
Dude, watch the video.

I wonder how LED strips compares to this under-cabinet lighting product. Also, no Thread support is lame
Yikes the price for those cabinet lights are pretty steep. Better off using the Aqara strip lights you mentioned later in the video.

Agree GE has to many problems

Good until the snake spot. No thanks; what’s with people’s obsession with friggin snakes?! SMH Please don’t ever show that again
