Thank you for the simplistic approach to writng grants applications. I have written too much in the past , lost some but gain some. Looking to simplify my cover letters. Here in the Uk it's mostly online questioning less written applications
This video was wonderful and truly invaluable as I'm in the beginning stages of establishing a nonprofit with a lot to learn along the way. Thank you for the time and effort you've put into it. I have a couple of questions about the itemized budget, if I may. - As it seems like new and establishing nonprofits may qualify for this particular grant application, can the required itemized budget be an estimate? - Should the application and request focus more closely on a more concrete expense/need in the establishment phase or do foundations such as this wish to see listings of all startup expenses? Thank you again!
I'm really glad it helped! In general, budgets are usually good faith estimates. :) There's no way to get them exactly perfect down to the cent unless it's a reimbursement, for which you'd show receipts in order to get the money back. As for what you request funds for - for that, just pay close attention to what the funder has said they prefer to fund on their website.
36 years in road transport...20 driving across Europe..the last five years as an HGV/PSV and B plus E driving instructor...Transport Logistics has a high need for all types of people across the world. Now a very complex industry there is no position within it that does not require somekind of training or certification that can be expensive to learn ..I have built high contacts around the world ...I am considering setting up a training base that will remain after training ends and will be there for future advice..

Hey Mark, I think it depends on the submission rules for that foundation. I've only seen a few grant applications request or permit video as a file upload, but many have an "extra information" section you could probably include a link to it in.

Hey Jennifer! I haven't seen many foundations explicitly say whether or not they'd grant to 508c1a's but each grant foundation is different and you'd probably need to check out their websites to assess criteria.

We provide therapy for our Ukrainian soldiers without cost. I have been trying to find funds. I learned from one of your lessons that family foundations would be more ideal for smaller non profits. Do you have any suggests of foundations for my center which is overseas and my main costs is for my therapists?

I would say as specific as you can get; people still respond better to concrete vs. vague. For example, how specifically would the general operating support increase your capacity to achieve your mission? Would it... increase staffing and thus the number of people you could serve? Invest in technology that enables your staff to spend more time on programs? Etc.

I thought that organisms were socialist and that most of their income was provided by the state, I was mistaken. Thank you to enlight me on the subject. The board of director is surely somehow democratic, but the functioning of a non-profit organization is far to be socialist but rather capitalist. Is it possible to start a non-profit organization, just like a loan from the bank, out of thin air so to speak without a capital to start with? The organization that I dream of need an apartment building, and how can I find a board of directors that will volunteer until the money gets in and that without being able to guarantee that an income will ever come. I always been revendicative toward organizations also. Now that I see the efforts needed to put up such a structure in the world I'm ashamed of myself being so ungrateful toward organisms that as I can now see is absorbed in such a bureaucracy that they had no choices of being as such. Congratulations to have succeed to put a non-profit organisation in the world and thank you so much for your really educative videos. BRAVO!
Thanks for watching! As for starting without funds - most regions will have at least some cost to file for official nonprofit / NGO status, but how much and the process depends on where you live!

Sounds like that may be a membership / professional association-type of nonprofit, if nonprofit is the direction you're leaning in.

Great information. You answered a big question; how a nonprofit in another country can get funded.
In some cases a US-based grant funder will fund operations out of the USA, true - but not all! Just be sure to check requirements.

When an application asks to give a budget are you suppose to write the full budget or just the budget that you are asking for help with?
It should specify on the instructions - sometimes funders want just the project's budget, sometimes the entire annual budget, sometimes both!
