This movie was delightful! It really captured the '60's to a tee! The women were very feminine and also, the '60's decor was spot on! It was a real blast from the past! Thanks for posting!
It was made in the 60s...so everything would be spot on..
@@rikigirl1165 Well, you must remember that not everyone here was alive then. Or, if they were born then, they wouldn't remember. Those of us born in the 1950s do, clearly.
I totally agree!
Delightful, you must be drunk! This is trash
I met John Saxon in 1980. He was short, had a very oddly shaped body, and was rude to the few who recognized him... who seemed like pleasant people. I've seen movies with him and often thought about what a great actor he was. To come across as likeable when he was just the opposite must've taken next level acting skills.
Yes, it's called working. It's called acting. It's the illusion that we know these famous people and that they must be as lovely off screen as on. Reality can be a shocker.
Did you mention to him how short, very oddly shaped and rude he was? Just wondering. BTW, John Saxon costarred with future superstar Robert Redford(his film debut) in the 1962 film "War Hunt". Scuttlebutt says the two men didn't get along as Redford found Saxon to be short, very oddly shaped and rude, but you know how scuttlebutt can be. Interestingly 17 years later Saxon had a supporting role in Sydney Pollack's The Electric Horseman starring Robert whatshisname and Jane Fonda. No word on what the cast and crew thought of Saxon's height, body shape or manners.
But you just met him one time anyone can have a bad day! And his body is not shaped odd
I thought John Saxon was handsome , but he was mean looking ! I heard Sandra Dee describe him the same way !
20alphabet: people in the public eye have no room to move. They are often pestered by others who just want to amuse themselves. It's important to understand that John Saxon could get tired just like everybody else. You, for example, are ready to condemn him just because you didn't get what you wanted from him.
According to IMDB, this was released on June 5, 1968. You could have gone to the theatre to see this and take your mind off the news that day of the shooting of Bobby Kennedy.
Those were the days of the "Singles Only" Californa apartment scene which flourished in the middle to late 1960s(when this movie was made)I think they are mostly gone now.
Born in 1956 - old enough to remember it, but not really old enough to take part in and enjoy the fun parts!
John Saxon was the most handsome actor of his time 1956-65. With his fabulous looks, especially those bushy eyebrows, perfect nose, double lashes and an athletic body, this Italian guy was the heart-throb of millions of girls, who wished they were in Sandra Dee's shoes. Ms. Dee was his delightful co-star in many coming-of-age films like: The Restless Years, The Reluctant Debutante, Portrait in black. In 'Cry Tough',about life in the ghettos of New York, the story-telling was embossed with naked realism, rawness and brutal honesty. It was one of the meatiest roles he got to sink his teeth into. John's one drawback was that he began to lose his hair early in his twenty's that eventually robbed him of his once powerful dashing looks.
What a time capsule! A sanitized Hollywood version of the sixties singles scene (although actually those motel-type apartment complexes really did look better before the laws changed and they couldn't be "for singles only" anymore). Eat your heart out, "Mad Men"!
Yes , there was a time when women had beautiful , natural bodies and faces . No humongous breasts , barrel size bums , duck lips , ; a time when beauty was natural and fresh .
Then they lost their self respect and turned to the cheap sex dolls.
I was born in 1969 cjordan.you are right!
Lol 😂 thats funny your description so funny & scary true ! 😬
The highest point of this silly comedy : @ 7:13 presence of the brazilian pianist & organist Walter Wanderley [ playing his Hammond B-3 ] , @ 7:36 the brazilian percussionist "Dom Um Romão" and @ 7:29 José Marino at the bass [ The Walter Wanderly Trio ] . That explains the Bossa Nova flavour in this song. The american singer Talya Ferro interprets the song “Take A Chance With Me”.
Enjoyed this . Same vibe as 2 other ‘60’s fun in the sun’ type movies I liked, Where The Boys Are and Palm Springs Weekend.
Have both those movies on DVD! They are fantastic!
Where the boys Are!? The Beach Party movies with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello of 1963-65 were way better! what do you say?
fabulous movie many thanks
You're welcome!
Mary Ann Mobley Most Beautiful Most Hotter 🤍 🎬
There’s just something about the 60’s (women were more ladies then) I always thought that John Saxon was so good looking!!! 👀 ❤️👏🏻👏🏻
This movie would make a great double feature at the drive in with Guide For The Married Man
I have always liked A Guide ForbThe Married Man but not this movie
Oh goodness! Flashback to my younger years❤😂❤❤ Thanks very much for showing this old movie for free! They just don't come anywhere close to the quality we had in those days❤
How To Marry A Millionaire , Three Coins In A Fountain , The Best Of Everything , Come Fly With Me . The Greeks Had A Word For Them and other movies .
What was the word?
TY for posting
That was a little corny and I really enjoyed it so much!! Really great upload thank you thank you 👍🏼🙌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it
There was an early episode of the 1970s police TV series "The Streets of San Francisco" that was set at a "singles only" apartment place similar to the one in this movie.
Thanks RW.
This was stellar! And thanks!
I WAS NOT EXISTENCE FOR YEARS! Nice to see how the times it was before my existence.
I hear a bite Chim Cheree in the opening song For Singles Only
lana wood - natalie wood's sister ?
Yes!
Yes, she gained notoriety from one Bond movie and posing nude. Natalie was by far the talented one of the sisters.
What a crack up! 😃🥰🤩
Milton Berle had a high creep factor in this movie
Filming started 18 September 1967. It was a rare comedy role for John Saxon.
Vincent Canby described the film as "a mindless, witless romantic drama about the mindless, witless young people who live, swim and boogoloo all day in one of those southern California apartment houses restricted to chamois-skinned unmarrieds," adding that the movie "is really an impotent fantasy about the sex life of the young [...] only an elderly movie producer living in southern California could remain alive and yet be so dead to the meaning of the world around him." Sandra Brennan wrote that the film "is basically about the exploitation [of] two naive young women," one of whom "gains firsthand experience with gang rape and suicide. Now I want to see the whole thing! 50:10 Bret Henley (John Saxon) says they'll takes Helen (Lana Wood) to Catalina Island where 14 years later her sister Natalie Wood would drown.
Cute.
Por favor en español, gracias
Suchlike, ad nauseam, made Easy Rider look like a great movie
looked like zac efron lol
Not a good movie but it is an interesting time capsule. Released just before the rating system came into effect. Would probably have gotten a M rating if not an R.
Mary-Ann Mobley wasn't a conventional beauty, but she had a certain ladylike quality about her that was very appealing She was as neat-as-a-pin and also very feminine. I can never envision her as a pushing virago. The few films that I saw her featured in, I just liked her.
36:06 lol
59:20 lol so bad
I was more interesting the red hear girl.
Prevod
Walter Wanderley on the organ with his Brazilian bossa nova troupe playing at a pool party full of swinging white-bread singles, featuring MIss America beauty pageant celebrity (Miss Biloxi Mississippi), Mary Ann Mobley. She ended up going straight to the tv market after this picture. In the end, she and her ex-hubby, Gary Collins, ended up back down in Biloxi MS where they passed away, both learning the hard way that there was no such thing as heaven.
why would milton berle want to be starring in a movie like this, it doesn't seem his type of role.
hortense petra and the nitty gritty dirt band!
Yikes
How did it become okay for women just to be stripped down? It's so ridiculous. No respect for themselves
What a horrible movie! B-movie going to C or D. Starts pretending to be a comedy, finishes in drama but in a bad soap opera way. Horrible music, bossa nova was much better than Walter Wanderley and his organ. Who was the audience target for a movie like this?
Mary Ann Mobley played ELVIS' leading lady in the movie "Harum Scarum" or "Harem Holiday"!!!
As substantial as cotton candy and as saccharine---the music was the best part what little of it there was...as for Milton Berle's two minutes of screen time cameo
I saw this movie on Cable TV (analog) when I was in the 8th grade. (1981-1982) In my personal opinion I think this movie stinks! 🦨
True, but thanks for watching anyway :)
It does, big time!
You're welcome to your opinion, however, some people prefer to watch something like this, than most of the garbage out of Hollywood today! 😊
