I saw new settings on the PTR and immediately came here. Thanks for this. Although I assumed the answer was most likely "turn this off" - it's nice to have confirmation and data. Thanks!
Ray tracing technology is essentially ineffective for games like Diablo, where its impact on visual fidelity is minimal and doesn't justify the performance cost. However, for games that are designed with a high emphasis on realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections, such as Cyberpunk 2077, ray tracing makes a substantial difference. In these games, ray tracing enhances the overall atmosphere, creating a more immersive and visually stunning experience that significantly elevates the game's aesthetic quality and realism.
Thanks for the info. It already worked really well with only main settings youve recommended. I am going to subscribe. Great video. I believe I will be able to enjoy diablo 4 more. More speed. More blasting
Any updates with the latest version of diablo in season 6 or are the recommendations still the same as season 5? Thank you for taking the time to compare different settings!
Any chance of an updated Counter Strike 2 benchmark video in the near future with some recommended Nvidia settings? I don't think anybody on TH-cam does quality benchmarks quite like you. So, I look forward to that benchmark video when you find the time to do it.
I think like this, from less useful to most useful: shadows, reflections, ambient/lighting/global illumination However I'm still convinced RT shadows can really make a difference in some games, like in metro exodus for example.
Ray Tracing is very impressive and worth the performance cost in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong. The reason I made this video is because RT in Diablo 4 is a joke, and also because it was a heavily requested benchmark video.
Would love to see a video from you on Fortnite, it is a competitive game but the ray tracing on it makes such a huge visual difference I think it´s worth it lol (also good knowing how much each setting affects the fps to optimize it better) luv your content
Excellent comparison & settings analysis, though I do feel like some of these RayTracing variables would benefit from looking to more locales/variables. Regardless a useless implementation. I hope they fix some of the issues, but mostly that they add Global Illumination Any chance you could explore the Upscaling options, namely ones that replace AA like Nvidia DLAA
My other D4 Benchmark Test video has DLAA and DLSS at the start: th-cam.com/video/jKEI9I7-FEw/w-d-xo.html There is one better place for RT Reflections by the Whisper Tree where the water has less debris in it for a slightly better best case scenario but honestly it's just as junk of a setting. I do test a lot more locales than I put in the video in order to keep the video short and keep the FPS loss %'s more accurate. Then I post the most interesting variables and areas I find.
@@ALBUPerformance It covers the Nvidia upscaling, but not AMD nor Intel is what I meant. I found XeSS AA solution better than DLAA since it has heavy ghosting, though not sure what preset D4 uses so maybe can be tweaked
@@TheFawz DLSS is far superior to FSR and XeSS in any game. DLSS should not have ghosting if you experience ghosting its due to a different reason. A common reason is that DLSS has a built in sharpness filter which works great. However sharpness filters don't stack well with other sharpness filters (nvidia control panel, monitor built in sharpness filter, etc). Basically you get an effect where you are stacking sharpness exponentially which will cause visual ghosting. There is other reasons as well such as certain monitors that create a similar affect with DLSS. In most any case you should be able to adjust your settings accordingly to fix it.
@@ALBUPerformance Although DLSS is better than FSR in most cases, even with the 3.1 revision, not so much for the latest XeSS. Especially if devs use default Upscaling Presets with the Nvidia implementation. And there is 100% ghosting with DLSS/DLAA in D4 even without any sharpening, most evident around the character model fine details (ie: Weapons) during fast movement. I suspect they're not using preset C/E/F
I suspect you're actually encountered one of the ghosting bugs from DLSS. The exact reason for it isn't well understood. There is a lot of info about it on reddit though. Basically your fix is simple: change the dlss dll to one of the following versions. It's as simple as dl and copy paste. If you look through github you'll also find third party fixed dlls for specific games, but would just stick with the newest official dll listed below. The ones without the bug are 2.3.3, 2.3.9, 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6, 2.4.12 v2, 2.5.0, and 2.5.1. The ones with the ghosting bug are 2.3.0, 2.3.1, 2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.7, 2.3.11, 2.4.0, 2.4.12 v1, and 2.4.13,
In reality, light naturally diffuses, creating a softer shadow. However, when game graphics make the shadow of a tree trunk, a player's feet, or the base of a grass blade in sharp focus while the tree canopy, player's head, or tips of grass are extremely blurred, this portrayal is far from realistic. In fact, it's quite unrealistically exaggerated. This isn't a problem with RT. This is due to the developers poor implementation of RT. Try a game like Black Myth Wukong with RT turned ON and you'll notice the diffused shadows are realistic.
As a Diablo player, I found ray tracing to be a critical feature of the game. Naaaa, it is not; I could care less; I am too busy enjoying the game mechanics. 😂😂
Just released will have to take a look. CoD generally makes a lot of massive changes after release so until the first major update/patch it'll just be my preliminary testing.
Mate, ALL RAYTRACING is a joke! Jensen said on stage of Turing launch "120+ RTX game within 18 months!". 18 months later there were around 22 games, and some of them were Minecraft, Doom, Doom 2, etc. He promised "hundreds more older games patched with RTX!". That never happened. And now, years and generations later, it's STILL a joke, with only the top end GPU's like the £1400 RTX4080 or £2300 RTX 4090 being able to run modern games with RTX, while ALL the other cards fail miserably. And for -40% framerate you get ..... shiny floors and puddles. Oh an better shadows! COS WE ALL stop playing to stare at the shadows! It's insane. (at the cost of +50ms response times). RTX is a gimmick - always has been. Maybe in 7-8 years time, when ENTRY LEVEL cards can actually do it, then it'll be a feature. Until then it's a gimmick.
