Roberto's.....San Diego's original and the best of the "erto's" taco shops! The only place we ever wanted to go after a day at the beach cliff jumping, volleyball, snorkeling, or surfing. Good to know there's one in Las Vegas, too. I know there is one across the street from the Convention Center in Reno, NV.
Way back in the 80s....these burritos were like $3.50 & always THE BEST thing anytime, early or late. The family behind this restaurant deserves every all star rating & cool for GF to do it

Roberto's was the first of the-bertos if I recall correctly, half the business got sold by one of the two owners, so all the other -bertos showed up because they were literally just Robertos' that had to slightly change their names for copyright purposes. Lobertos, Albertos, Noibertos, I saw a Robertito's once.
Southwest? More like a San Diego or SoCal taco shop thing. Yes, there are some outside of Cali like in AZ, NV, CO, and even Texas now, but it's a Cali thing.

I didn't know they were as far as Las Vegas, that's pretty awesome, maybe one day Robertos will spread across the US and I won't have to be mad I can't get them anymore.
People on the east coast need to learn this. Spent two years over there and not once could I find a carne asada burrito that didn't have rice and beans in it. Even worse is they would always put some horrific "queso" on a chimi. So happy to be back in Arizona where you can get real Mexican/border food.
The Midwest is the same, that disgusting cheese sauce on chimi's. The best chimichanga I have ever had was in the 80's, at La Pinata, on 19th Ave and Osborn (they have moved since then). La Pinata had THE best chicken chimichanga ever made. The chicken was super moist, in a green chile - onion broth and topped with tons of guac and sour cream.

How would that assessment resonate with you ? Very likely not impress and you might take a pass on going there, which would make the restaurant owners quite unhappy too. Gotta agree. We have "Filiberto's" in Phx. Along with Roberto's. Anaberto's. Isoberto's. BriceBerto's. Mob of knockoffs. They are actually all pretty good. Solid enough, fast and reasonably priced. Best ever ? Well, no, no. That's not really true.
A lot of San Diego spots did it like this, I couldn’t figure out why when I made my asada at home it was different. We used to add a squeeze of lime before eating along with some red or green sauce.
