I feel like people who engage in plagiarism fall into two categories: 1) Lazy people who are trying to get a project done with minimal effort. 2) Pathetic people who need others to believe they invented everything themselves. Number 2 people are the worst.

The problem is that pretty much all TH-camrs and TikTokers, etc, are just poorly educated people who've found a way of making money and getting exposure. They don't know anything about plagiarism or quoting sources.
I might have agreed with this… five or eight years ago. But the video content creator space has become far more sophisticated and, as HBomberguy pointed out in his own video on plagiarism, lucrative. You simply can’t feign ignorance of professional standards as a video content creator these days.
In Germany we have a different culture, since we had so many issues regarding sourcing and quoting. Nearly all TH-camrs who talk about serious topics list an excel sheet in the description, where you can verify the validity of what was being said.
Content theft is ethically wrong and undermines the hard work and creativity of original creators. It's disheartening to see such dishonesty. Let's respect each other's work and ideas.

But if someone copies you all of the time and tries to act as if those ideas or words we're theirs and theirs alone..thats when it crosses into cringe territory. Liking what someone says is totally normal. And if you like it enough and its something you want to harness yourself and use later, so be it. Thats fine. We're humans, thats what we do. However, everything you say and do shouldn't be stolen from someone else. On a psychological level, its not really screaming flattery or coming off as a compliment when its done to that degree. There are boundaries. Im too tired right now to dive into the psychology behind it, but i guess a great way to see how you really feel about that kind of thing is to imagine someone doing it to you. Frequently. If it creeps you out, there ya go. And if it creeps you out, and you're doing it to other people, that may be the red light to stop doing it. Again, its okay to take certain phrases or terms or whatever, if you like it. But its not okay when you almost steal someone elses identity by repeating them over and over again if youre not giving credit to the person you heard it from. Besides, if you like something that much, wouldnt it make sense to give credit where credit is due? One of the biggest problems with copying people like that is acting as if youre the person who originally came up with all of it. Thats not cool. My guess is you wouldnt want someone doing that to you, so maybe its best to be mindful and try ro put yourself in the situation just on the receiving end of things. It might shed a little more light on to how it comes off to other people, if you take the time to play it out from both sides. 🤷♀️

They say when someone copies you that it could be considered a sign of flattery. But if someone copies you all of the time and tries to act as if those ideas or words we're theirs and theirs alone..thats when it crosses into cringe territory.
Liking what someone says is totally normal. And if you like it enough and its something you want to harness yourself and use later, so be it. Thats fine. We're humans, thats what we do.
However, everything you say and do shouldn't be stolen from someone else. On a psychological level, its not really screaming flattery or coming off as a compliment when its done to that degree. There are boundaries.
Im too tired right now to dive into the psychology behind it, but i guess a great way to see how you really feel about that kind of thing is to imagine someone doing it to you. Frequently. If it creeps you out, there ya go. And if it creeps you out, and you're doing it to other people, that may be the red light to stop doing it.
Again, its okay to take certain phrases or terms or whatever, if you like it. But its not okay when you almost steal someone elses identity by repeating them over and over again if youre not giving credit to the person you heard it from. Besides, if you like something that much, wouldnt it make sense to give credit where credit is due? One of the biggest problems with copying people like that is acting as if youre the person who originally came up with all of it. Thats not cool. My guess is you wouldnt want someone doing that to you, so maybe its best to be mindful and try ro put yourself in the situation just on the receiving end of things. It might shed a little more light on to how it comes off to other people, if you take the time to play it out from both sides. 🤷♀️

Quick point about the faking-your-death thing: yes, it's technically legal to fake your death.
