At first, I thought the tenor guy was playing “out,” and I was like “yeah I like this. This is different”; then I realized he was a beginner haha. He sounds great, though!
Everyone has to start somewhere! Congrats to Correy for putting yourself out there with world class players and trying your best! Eric's playing is wonderful, as usual.
He wasn't terrible. Anybody would sound less than magnificent next to Eric and crew. I wish I had his guts to get up there. If he keeps that up he will progress and leave the naysayers in the dust.
In the world of "six degrees from......." I'm two degrees from the legendary Mr. Erskine as the saxophonist Richard Torres, who recorded an album with Peter and shared a stint in Stan Kenton's orchestra, was in a swing combo with me in 1998-9.
Yes, a rotten player. The name cats smugly look at him in a friendly way. They know better but are afraid to say or do anything. What kind of teachers could they be? The tune should have been stopped after a few of the horrible notes, and the poor player either ejected, or lectured to. I don't know what else to say. I am an alum of Berklee from late 70's/early 80's. This garbagey playing would not have been smiled at by teachers back then. Yelling at crappy players, kicking their ass, was part of the schooling back then.
Correy Harrisj with W/George Whitty-Piano, Eric Marienthal-Alto sax, John Patitucci-Bass, and Peter Erskine-Drms ? A unique chance , where, why , how ?
@@jaykerouac2 Eric, as world renowned expert and accomplished saxophonist, should have held back or even declined a solo improv, lest for fear the tenor beginner might be discouraged and perhaps gave up. Eric is as great an instructor as he is a sax expert; I have learnt so much from him, both as a person and saxophonist. Maybe, like a youthful Charles "Yardbird" Parker, Corey will return as the new John Coltrane or Michael Brecker, reincarnated (smile)
Well look they probably invited him up there knowing how he plays. He’ll be a better musician for this. This video is free. It’s not like he’s ruining someone’s dinner or someone’s concert. So I say let him get some experience with the big cats in this better environment. Good on Eric for being a teacher.
Yes, painful. It's almost as though he were a student, who somehow purchased lessons online! Almost as if part of the curriculum of those lessons were to record a video performance with the masters that comprise the faculty of that school. After that, by virtue of some bizarre and unexplained constellation of phenomena, when asked to perform, that student "struggled" at his expected level of proficiency--far below what the masters can do!! We may never know. I mean, it's not as if the video were labeled with the name of the educational company that is so-structured. Very mysterious. But go on.
Ahhh there's nothing like elitist snobs to suck the joy out of music. They may be totally correct but a world made by perfect pitch and click tracks formulated and devoid of spontinaity will soon be upon us. AI robots can replace us mediocre struggling musicians who play with feeling out of love and the world will be a sterile unsurprising place. I'll be down by the railroad tracks blowing bad notes and the birds and frogs are going to back me up.

The tenor man is having a go and learning thats great power to him
Exactly. He's a student.

Good work! Keep practicing! Congrats! Playing with Eric is just a dream for me...

Give your man a break, we've all been there and I wasn't any better, I hope he's playing well and getting on with things 😊
Mr. Erick has to be the top 5 players in the world. Such a great tone and exciting lines.

Nice job.
That look Patitucci gives that Tenor player @2:38 says it all 😂
Mestre Marienthal... Congratulations friends, the best sound...
What is this? A lesson for the tenor player? Very kind of these great musicians to share the stage with a beginner!
I believe that the company (artistworks) arranges for clients to play with their teachers if they are in the area.

What a great experience playing with these guys. Bit unkind putting it in the Comedy category.
Eric’s sound… that’s a sound that gets work
Eric just sounds like he is more experienced than the other saxophonist in my opinion.
