Hey there Mr Gordon you need to figure out how to get some sparks to shoot out the back to look just like Saturday morning 1934 at the $0.05 theater. 👍😀👍
Given the slow speed flight characteristics of this model, light weight construction, clever aerodynamics and as you mentioned very skilled piloting are combined in this project. I cannot imagine maintaining orientation during rolling maneuvers with symmetrically shaped and colored craft. Respect!
Has anyone ever built a propellor which contains the battery? I suppose the internal volume of a propellor wouldn’t be much. But some four-blade props are pretty big. Maybe the blades could be stamped out of a lithium-foil laminate.
This is badass - There is no wing - except for the body of the thing. Of course you have control surfaces but THERE IS NOT WING. Most of the crash proof rc planes use rubber bands but this body shape naturally mitigates lateral shear forces. I guess if you slammed this into a brick wall you could destroy it but crashing onto asphalt, no way. You should use hinged props and perhaps use a tubular support frame within the bulbous body but this idea is BADASS. With a small adjustment to body shape you could probably get this to fly 250km easy.
@@gimbal-geek other word, the wide body as a wing ? i woud like to build one and with foam/polyfoam, but i dont know it will fly or no, may i know the wide and lenght the model and also the total weight with the ilpo battery includ .....thanks for share the amazing model
an AR under 0,5 and an AoA around 25 degrees...or more, some electric motor with thrust beyond the weight...this works, sure! the plans are dound on several free online pkatforms...it,s actually quite an old design! nice someone built it again...the problem for a real size airpkane working on such vortex lift is the very low wing loading or very high power rate( as in fighter airplanes...) but all that technical detailing is not really important...it was an icon and is a nice toy...when you want to make it stable put the battery or tank on the very bottom...and keep the rest as light as possible, it.s just a hollow blimp anyways...
Cool... Looks like a 30's Flash Gordon Rocket ship. 😎

Iba a comentar lo mismo!!!
Living proof that given enough power and a skilled pilot at the controls, you could make a washing machine fly.

Well, there's this TV advert from more than 12 years ago - th-cam.com/video/fjLePcemJJI/w-d-xo.html
A flying washing machine they call that a helicopter
Thats one of the coolest RC ever.
I built one of these with a glow engine 30 years ago, it was a blast.
A very old design. I can remember seeing one powered by a Cox TeeDee in the '60s. Great to see one flying again.
I remember seeing this in a magazine in the 70’s
I'm totally here for this awesome theme song!
Thanks for sharing, fantastic model
I want plans. I need plans! Really really need plans!
Wow! I second what everyone else is saying. Such a cool design, so unique and far from anything I’d come up with and it flies! 👌
This is a profound lesson in aerodynamics. If the drag is low and the volume is large, why do we not see vehicles like this in General Aviation?
Outstanding!
"GO FLASH, GO!"
That was WONDERFUL to watch! Great video.
Very cool
Perfect song for the vid!
Flash Gordon. You’ve only got 14hrs to save the earth..
This has to rate as one of the weirdest, most inspired RC planes ever! As an RC enthusiast and Flash Gordon fan, I take my hat off to you🎩
I remember seeing the plans for this in a Model Magazine. Either Model Airplane News, or Flying Models. I always wanted to build it...
I think it was Model Airplane News. This model looks familiar and I had a subscription to that one for a few years, but never the other magazine.
Gordon's alive, go flash go👌👍
I like my toast just a little darker, ThankX that was great !!!!
Wow! Tha lbs so coo!
Thanks for sharing ❤
lifting body with perfect control
very cool
That is fantastic, exactly what I have been working on.
Wonderful aircraft. Smooth piloting. Thanks for sharing 👌
thats proper funky.well done mate.
Awesome !!
I saw this airplane at SEFF several years ago. I didn’t see it fly, but I thought it was really cool! Turns out it flys great!
super ottimo !! gran maestro!!💯
Love it. Whish it were a kit!
Design your own, life ain't all foamy. 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
@@Workerbee-zy5nx Great point, if only I had the time to. But yes making anything from your brain is far more satisfying.
@@FatGuyFliesRC 🤓👌

Ming is jellous..! 🎉😅❤
FWIW: I have seen a couple photos of these things, but this is the first video.
the whole model is a lifting body. amazing design.
E P I C ! ! !
Somewhere, Buck Rogers is smiling.
Just how unique can one get!?.. .
Superb!!!
Incredibly stable in roll, considering there is no wing!
how does it even fly?? Brilliant!!
Lifting body at its best.
That’s pretty dang cool!!! 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
Martian Spaceship from Model Builder Magazine, August 1991.
Wow,cool Beans.
Sick! I want one
Very cool. I love it.
Not much for carrying a load, but she's a flyer!
Horsepower is everything in an airplane
The adventures of Flash Gordon. That's the one they flew all the way to Mars through the ATMOSPHERE. 😆
Whoa, wild dude…
that's cool and a smooth flyer. i'd like to build a rigid airship but i have to come up with some ideas.
I can see the king pinching those sticks ;)
Cool! Now do Planet Express?
Buck Rogers lives !

if you look closely it has rib fins on the body...without these it would be impossible to fly
Flash Gordon will be proud . Verry nice model .
Iit's too bad that he can't use Queen's theme song to Flash Gordon. That would have been cool .
@@marce152 100 % de acuerdo.
awesome
GORDON'S ALIVE?!!
LoL!!!! Awesome !!!!
Lifting Wing Body thinga-ma-jig !!!??? YES????
The Martian Maggot! Almost.
Looks amaing . Proves with enough skill and smarts . Even a brick can fly
Flash Gordon is alive !
Finally!
Very cool! Takes you back to the '50s matinees.❤ The model has gotta be gyro stabilized in the roll axis, though. Right? Or is it pure pilotage?
no gyro
This is so AWESOME!!!
All it needs is sparks coming out the rear.
Presque un hélicoptère
ahh ahhhhhh he saved every one of us
Now, if you could just add airshow smoke...!
The next ufo video on youtube
Do a Planet Express next.
You CAN'T crash. Gives me some great ideas.
cool
MUSIC FROM FLASH GORDON THE MOVIE. PERFECT FOR THIS VIDEO!!!@
At last an airplane without those useless wings!
Do you have some lifting body action happening, or is it just a case of adding enough power to make it fly regardless.
Fins on the body
who needs wings to fly
Where may I purchase The Spaceship?
you can't, it has been built form scratch
Sept. 5th of this year? Yah, right.
UK date format so 9th May
Wewll done indeed John!!
yes, that thing actually floes, bcs the "wing" loading is extremely low....lol!
that's just awesome!
This doesn’t happen until September 2024, you’re watching the future!
uk time format
Does it use any kind of active stabilization? I'd imagine the thing is very unstable in roll axis
no gyro whatsoever, John is a very experienced and capable pilot. the body has rib fins to help it stable but that's it
@@gimbal-geek very impressive, John is a great pilot

Hawk Men ... DIVE!
what is the name of the model?
spaceship
@@gimbal-geek thank you
impossible to tipstall
Does it fly knife edge?
No it's 3 channel no alierons just rudder and elevator
@@gimbal-geek try mixing elevons.
@@zefkosta has a 1 piece elevator so not possible
I think it was 6-5-2024....? ...lol...... how does this fly ?
no definitely the 9th...it's a lifting body design
helium airship rc? should float without any prop power. yep foil balloon should be enough.
No helium
Is it a lifting body or helium-filled?
no helium
Hydrogen. As when they crash and burn they are safer for passengers than a Boeing 737 MAX!
This is a very old design, probably free flight as originally drawn
Thinks it’s called windbag
RC Martian Spaceship Aug 1991 Model Builder Magazine. Was on front cover.
a smoke system would really set it off
Definitely the Windbag, the plans were available through the Aeromodeller Plans Service.
I want one bad! how?
