8:57 bro this is the most accurate thing ever for recovery with drug abuse right here. And it’s life saving advice. Could not be put in better words. Thank you Dr Now!
Exactly like we were made to move and if we don't move we could get blood clots, heart failure, high blood pressure, and other things that can kill you. I got high blood pressure from not being active in the past and being overweight and now I'm making healthier choices and I've lost a lot of weight. But that's because I wanted to and I made an effort.
"Not exercising is deadly." Hunh....mighty hard to do the exercise you're thinking of when one's mobility has been greatly reduced. I'm only referring to my own because I suffered a huge and devastating injury ten years ago that means I now have to use a quad cane just to walk inside my apartment. I'm also not to go outside at all except to get to and from my car, and that's it, because I've had skin cancer removed, and am at huge risk for further to develop. It's so easy for others to say "Do more," "exercise," "just get up and DO "IT," "It's easy to lose weight, you "just" have to quit overeating" when they haven't been where the morbidly obese person has, or the severly injured person is.
Dr Now is great he says it how it is he takes no rubbish I get obesity runs in their family but seriously the son needs to join the weight loss goal with his mum
Weight gain itself doesn't necessarily run in the family, but habits do. Kids copy their parents. But they don't get fat simply due to genetics. It's all their lifestyles.
"Girl"?? Once a person gets past the age of 20, they are no longer a "girl" or a "boy," they are a WOMAN or a MAN (I do not, and will not, recognize any other genders because God made only two, period!)
I hope that the kids watch themselves too. They too are overweight. Food can be very addictive and an "escape" when life throws you those curveballs so I try be understanding in these situations and not judgemental. All thw best to her
Love how they are so shocked & can't understand why they weigh over 600 lbs ... u don't need 5 large pizzas, 20 nuggets & 5 gallons of soda as a meal 😱 Take a walk, drink some water & eat something green for once 🙏
She’s not ready to lose weight but she nearly died because of her weight? I don’t think there’s much lower than rock bottom. I hope she manages to lose they weight and get her life back
Drug addicts say they're going to quit, they're just not ready yet. Alcoholics and smokers do the same thing. I get irritated with these patients too, but they're being faced with life chages that were easier in their heads than in reality. I've quit smoking 3 times and am back at it. I know exactly what it's doing to my body, and I work with patients in a respiratory hospital. It's insane. But it makes us feel better to lie to ourselves by saying "I'm not ready" than it is to face the truth and acknowledge we're refusing to change. Change is particularly scary when you know it's a lifelong commitment. Easier to set yourself up for failure to avoid disappointment. Don't get me wrong, they're whiny brats, but I think often they're just terrified.
Someone needed to explain to her that PT is about pushing yourself past where you think you can go to challenge yourself. It’s all about being uncomfortable so you can get stronger. Her attitude was disgusting, so nasty, threatening, and entitled. I encountered so many parents who were just like this in my inner city teaching job.
...Why would it matter for you to clarify that it was an "inner city" teaching job? What are you trying to imply by adding that in? Sketchy framing on your part.
@@egalo-medina6859 Bc the behaviors of the students and many of the parents are off the wall insane, and yes, it’s way worse in our inner cities. Ask any teacher who works in one. There’s a reason why there’s a huge teacher shortage that’s only getting worse, and salaries are not the main reason. The violence, disrespect, total lack of interest in getting an education…I could go on and on. Our inner cities have a 50% high school drop out rate, far higher than in other places. Most of the ones who do graduate don’t deserve to. I was assaulted by two mothers, twice in one year, once with a weapon. I could have been killed, took them both to court after the principal begged me not to bc “it won’t look good for the school.” I could tell you more stories that would make your hair curl. The trauma is very real. We are trained to teach. We did not sign up to be cops, prison guards, shrinks, counselors, or bodyguards. It is beyond scary.
I had 9 pulmonary embolisms and I can tell it's no joke. Yes they want her to walk but it's hard to breathe with the blood clots and she is dealing with a lot and I am defending her but I know it's hard. Just saying from experience that it takes some months to get your body feeling better.
Rude and passive aggressive person. People come in to help her move and physical therapy, and she just continues to ignore them and play in her computer. “Not right now” means she expects Woolf to keep wasting their time coming back over and over to try to get her going, and then it will be the physical therapists fault if they can’t waste their time come back over and over.
Some of these patients need to start appreciating the opportunity and help they are getting from this hospital and its staff. They are remarkable, and should not be taken for granted. Pisses me off to see how rude she was just looking at her laptop and not even turning her head towards the physiotherapist.
People are responsible for themselves. Freedom doesn’t mean good choices, freedom = freedom. Personal freedom means we carry our own responsibility for our choices. Marla makes bad choices. Even advised to take medical transport she didn’t. The result of that was pain, near death, and respiratoryn failure. Marla chose a lifetime of bad health choices. No matter why she self attacked, she chose to self attack and not take steps to stop
Initially I felt sorry for her. When I saw her BS attitude with the laptop, phone, and physical therapists, that sympathy quickly went down hill. Did she think they would be able to just remove all of her excess weight without ANY effort from HER??? That's not how this works. If you want to be in shape, YOU have to take the initiative and help YOURSELF. The doctors can only do so much. If you're capable of playing on your computer all day, you can do a few mild leg lifts and arm stretches. That's likely all she would've had to do in that condition. People in this program who are wasting Dr. Now's time kind of irk me. There should be a policy of "Once you enter the program, you are allowed only one electronic device and it is only for speaking to loved ones". It's like a form of rehab and should be treated as such. If they're going to let her keep doing what she was doing at home, she's not getting better. Has anyone TOLD her she had actually stopped breathing? That might have opened her eyes a little bit to the gravity of the situation. But, then again, maybe not. Many of these people want a quick fix and instant gratification and when they are told that literally couldn't happen even if it was possible, they lose their motivation and acquire an attitude real fast. Dr. Now needs to focus on people who genuinely want to get better.
@@NatalieMcCabe-wh6ni Exactly. In this scene, the only thing that had changed with this woman was the background. She was in a hospital, refusing to help herself instead of being at home refusing to help herself. But, that's the ONLY change she made. It's gonna take more than that and she doesn't like it.
You are right they want a quick fix and continue eating and don't want to do anything themselves because they are used to that at home being in bed all day and have other run to get them all the meals they want and whatever else they want. I can imagine some of them don't want to lose weight because then they would have to take a job and clean the house and take care of themselves they'd rather steal their children's childhood, teens and even adulthood so they don't have to do anything. They must have whatever they want and if they don't get it they get angry. They should never be allowed to have the surgery before they show they are willing to do something themselves. Some will feel sorry for them for some childhood trauma but many has them without getting this big and the worst part is what kind of trauma are they giving their kids not being able to live normal lives. In some cases I don't believe their stories I think they have a story for people to feel sorry for them and say no wonder she is eating herself to death.
@@MissWitchiepoo Some of them are manipulative like that, yes, absolutely. Some are just too discouraged and depressed to try. Some have become entitled and obnoxious. It varies from person to person. Each case is unique. In this case, I believe it was a sense of entitlement and possibly just feeling like there was no point in trying. But, I don't know these women, so I can't really say.
I’m 55 and had three hip replacements. I’m at a healthy weight. Trust me, I listened to my doctor and did my physical therapy all of the time or I wouldn’t get better.
First, this isn't about you. Second, why do absolute strangers use the term "trust me" when nobody knows them, and we aren't about to trust anyone we don't know (except for idiots who believe everyone and accept everything hook, line, and sinker, without using their brains first)?
If she acts like that to hospital staff and refuses so much with that attitude just imagine when you don't bring her the food she wants...at least you could walk away and not have to listen to it
EMT here. Heaviest patient I had was 730 lbs and lived in a disgusting trailer park. She had lower leg edema and cellulitis. We moved her from our bariatric gurney (which was not enough to accommodate her) to the hospital bed using a paramedic, five EMTs, and two nurses. Her leg got caught on a bed rail and her flesh cut open, spilling fluid on to the floor. The room smelled like rotting flesh and she had the nerve to cuss us all out.
I feel so blessed to have a normal Mom. She is 81. Has had numerous health problems with asthma, a brain tumor, bouts with bronchitus and pneumonia and now age related Dementia. I get frustrated because I'm going through changes of my own and have to be a partial, becoming increasingly closer to full time, caretaker. BUT, most of my younger years, aside from asthma, she has been active and good looking. Didn't need to be taken care of. Was something to be proud of. It took her becoming 76 plus years old before she had to really start leaning on me. I appreciate all of the memories of having a physically active and beautiful Mom.
There has to been a moment before 800 lbs when she understood she was dying. I love food and I hang at 170 lbs year for year. Once I weigh over 175, I always start cutting back. I just don’t understand how it gets this bad😔 At this point I’d be begging for help and willing to do ANYTHING.
Like at the point where your hips are hitting the inside of a door frame and you’re having to squeeze yourself through. You’d think at least THAT would be a sign that you needed some diet and exercise changes. 😮
Unfortunately it's a trauma based addiction for most who reach this size. And like any addiction its next to impossible to overcome once it gets this severe.
I'm glad she finally started to take the first step in getting up on her feet after being immobile for so long it's hard to get back to normal everyday walking it takes allot. I know from being sick and in the hospital for over a month it's hard to get back on your feet but it can be done.
"Allot"--give or apportion something to someone as a share or a task." "....everyday walking...takes A LOT." Learn proper grammar, because, boy, do you ever need it!!!!
Considering this episode is from 10 or 11 years ago, it's highly likely she's dead by now. The longer clip that focused on her showed her to be a very nasty person for everyone to deal with, with a sense of entitlement and laziness that were both twice the size of her ginormous body. It includes this particular scene as the opener, if memory serves, but it's available here on YT if one can stomach watching her nastiness.

You do know that this episode, like most of them, is quite old, right? That person may very well be dead by now, and that extremely obese other---male? female? isn't far behind.
The whole reason she almost died is because she did not move, blood clot formed and almost killed her and they saved her life, and at that size. She needs to be thankful that they saved her life. I hear she is thriving now, none of it possible without Dr Now. I also heard she is suing him? Please say that isn’t so 🤦🏼♀️ he saved her, twice!

I feel like I can never call myself fat again after watching this. I call myself that all the time even though I’m like 120 lbs. I need to stop being ridiculous lol. A little bit of cellulite doesn’t automatically make you “fat”.
She acts like she knows better than the peeps keeping her alive. She has a raunchy attitude and it's sad how her daughter hung out waiting for that relationship. Life is precious and she has a real problem.
If you feel like they're pushing you to hard, then you don't want to live being that big and you want to loose weight, but, don't want to do the work to loose the weight.

Dr Now is great he says it how it is he takes no rubbish
I get obesity runs in their family but seriously the son needs to join the weight loss goal with his mum
That's her daughter 🥴
You mean daughter
Daughter. She even says "Sara".
@@matexplores32 sorry I mean daughter
Weight gain itself doesn't necessarily run in the family, but habits do. Kids copy their parents. But they don't get fat simply due to genetics. It's all their lifestyles.
Wow that nurse with the black shirt blowing air to her so sweet
I agree. He was raised right.
4:35 "they don't understand nothing" 😂😂😂😂 from the girl they had to resuscitate
"Girl"?? Once a person gets past the age of 20, they are no longer a "girl" or a "boy," they are a WOMAN or a MAN (I do not, and will not, recognize any other genders because God made only two, period!)
Marlas son is well on his way to the same situation. Can't he see that ?
Daughter!
That's her DAUGHTER...🙄🙄🙄 Yep...
@@DMV8662 WHAT????!!!! I thought that was a man, too!!!
So true
I hope that the kids watch themselves too. They too are overweight. Food can be very addictive and an "escape" when life throws you those curveballs so I try be understanding in these situations and not judgemental. All thw best to her
Fat children become fatter adults.
Saying "Physical therapy needs to happen in my own time" when she is on borrow time as it is... Baffling
Screw her. I had gastric bypass. It was constant pain, even 20 years out. But I lost 200 lbs. And keep myself at 150 lbs. She is a whiney A$$.
Love how they are so shocked & can't understand why they weigh over 600 lbs ... u don't need 5 large pizzas, 20 nuggets & 5 gallons of soda as a meal 😱
Take a walk, drink some water & eat something green for once 🙏
I drink more water with my meals, and small amounts of soda or fruit juice. Oh, and I love lettuce, green beans, and--are you ready--spinach.
Some addicts simply don't have a bottom. Or rather their bottom is death.
She lost the weight and wrote a book.
@@blacknosugarnocreamoh thank God that's good news!
@@blacknosugarnocream what weight? the woman was 800 fucking lbs, what weight did she lose?
What's even more sad our the children who are next ...So so sad.
@@egalo-medina6859 yeah someone describing a black woman's behavior as disgusting/nasty/threatening reeks of racism

I had 9 pulmonary embolisms and I can tell it's no joke. Yes they want her to walk but it's hard to breathe with the blood clots and she is dealing with a lot and I am defending her but I know it's hard. Just saying from experience that it takes some months to get your body feeling better.
I hope your health improves
You sound like you have been through so much
@@emilyfeagin2673 tysm I have been through a lot. And having more to deal with.
Jesus glad your still here not everyone recovers from that your so blessed my Mom just passed last year in August due to a Pulmonary Embolism
It took me 6 months to recover from bilateral upper and lower lobe PEs.
Her plan seems to be her hair and nails and let everyone cater to her
I love Dr. Now.
Dr. Now also needs to lose weight.
Sierra is great! I’m so glad she is giving her mom the truth.
Some of these patients need to start appreciating the opportunity and help they are getting from this hospital and its staff. They are remarkable, and should not be taken for granted. Pisses me off to see how rude she was just looking at her laptop and not even turning her head towards the physiotherapist.
Not weeks away from death ,that was hours .
Yea pulmonary embolism is no joke. I nearly died in 2022 from one
Good point. If you enter a rehab clinic you don't get 2 choose what day you start. U start from the get go!
Hello 👋
Dr Now is very Kind n determined to help His Patient,, GBU Dr Now
Okay but I love that she's kicking her legs with glee at the end. It's just so wholesome
Dr Now looks good in black
@duhmoan a fellow tcap fan 🤣
So glad she finally tried!
She did all of this to herself its her fault so her attitude is unwarranted. I feel sorry for her kids the most.
? You have no idea, she has a conditiom
Dr Now is the best! He puts up with so much rudeness from people who have eaten themselves half to death.
Dang😫😫😫😫😫
I hope she’s doing a lot better. ❤ Is there any updates on Marla?
ARE there any updates? Look it up yourself, don't expect others to do it for you.

Well done for trying to get up, keep going, don't give up.
God bless this doctor, he is so patient
Same here, once I hit a certain weight, you may as well take my fridge!
You guys clearly don't understand what an addiction is lol 😂😂
Yes addictions are very, very hard to beat. But saving your own life is always worth it. ❤
Unfortunately it's a trauma based addiction for most who reach this size. And like any addiction its next to impossible to overcome once it gets this severe.
She doesnt seem interested in changing she seems more annoyed that they are pushing her to get out of bed
I'm glad she finally started to take the first step in getting up on her feet after being immobile for so long it's hard to get back to normal everyday walking it takes allot. I know from being sick and in the hospital for over a month it's hard to get back on your feet but it can be done.
"Allot"--give or apportion something to someone as a share or a task." "....everyday walking...takes A LOT."
Learn proper grammar, because, boy, do you ever need it!!!!
The daughter needs to join her.
I hope that Marla is doing better.
@@jb6712She actually alive and well. It's rude to seemingly assume someone is dead and yet pleased with it.

You do know that this episode, like most of them, is quite old, right? That person may very well be dead by now, and that extremely obese other---male? female? isn't far behind.
I googled her now 2024 and I think this lady is honestly the most successful of everyone on this show she looks INCREDIBLE
The whole reason she almost died is because she did not move, blood clot formed and almost killed her and they saved her life, and at that size.
She needs to be thankful that they saved her life.
I hear she is thriving now, none of it possible without Dr Now.
I also heard she is suing him? Please say that isn’t so 🤦🏼♀️ he saved her, twice!

leeching off taxpayers money - they receive payments from the state and relative that has to service their needs is declared as a caregiver and also get money. They don't pay taxes either.
