I think lyrically this is a perfect song in that it is a perfect tribute to Rev. They've stripped away all the extravagance, and chose to make it simple and sweet. A song where the lyrics carries the music.
That's completely fair. If I had to pick an all-time favorite A7X song, it'd be Radiant Eclipse. It was the first A7X song I ever heard and it dragged me along for the ride ever since and boy does it go hard!
Mike Portnoy did the drumming on their album Nightmare cuz that's the album they were in the middle of making when The Rev passed and Mike was his favorite drummer. I do like this song but it's not my favorite lol, my favorite of theirs is still Buried Alive.
Save Me is the best song on the record and probably my favorite A7X song ever (even though Waking the Fallen will never be topped in my opinion). This song is special because of the emotion and meaning behind it (and the fact that Syn wrote it about his best friend Jimmy). As a song itself you nailed it; its super solid and the lyrical weight is what elevates it far beyond what it would’ve been on its own. Nightmare is a great record and Jimmy will of course be missed dearly by all A7X fans foRever (had to do it)!

That last note was intentionally done I believe as Rev's life ended abrubt. The guitarist wrote this song they were best friends.
I always get chills listening to this song, especially the last part where they show the Rev's pictures... Damn
