I love the idea of the ratchet strap for your climber. In 2017 my team hacked off the handle of a ratchet wrench and held it in place with a quick-release handle, which allowed removing the robot very easy and was consistent.

Hi. Thanks for the video! How much drop do you have between your inner and outer drive wheels? Has that drop worked well for you?

Why not use mecanum wheels rather than Omni on the intake?

Alexander Curtis Jr Great question! While mecanum wheels in concept would be great as they would funnel the ball inward on their own, they tend to be very bulky, very heavy, and don’t have great grip (or at least the ones we have in stock are like this). Whereas omnis are really light and the wheels we have are grippy.
Even though we decided to use Omni wheels, I would encourage you to test out mecanum wheels (as we did not with this prototype) and see if you could potentially make them work!

@@zoukeepers2431 look at our Ri3d. First Capital. We went mecanum I was just curious as to your reasoning.

That’s great! As I said the mecanum wheels we have in stock are far too large and incredibly heavy compared to yours. Good to know it’s another possibility in addition to the omni wheels as this is the whole purpose of ri3d!
