    My last trip to Goodwill has completely soured me on the company and I'm not sure I'm willing to do business with them anymore.
    I bought 3 stools from them, put them in my car, took them home and took one in to see if it fit the counter height, which it did not, so I took them back the next morning. Instead of returning them, I decided to donate them along with a bunch of other items that I brought with me. They took everything EXCEPT the stools, citing that they have too many scratches. The stools are in pristine condition and the scratches they are talking about is the freaking woodgrain you are supposed to be able to see through the transparent stain. 24 hours earlier they were sitting on the damn sales floor! The entire 20 minutes that I was there, the person working did nothing but bitch and complain about the company and how much trouble he would get in if he accepted items that were not in mint condition.
    I returned them for full credit. They went back on the sales floor to be sold again, which they did almost immediately. They could have had them back for free, but refused. Idiots.

      @natnielsen8472 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marky, It's the employee, and not Goodwill that misspoke. Goodwill is not known for taking 'pristine' items. There is nothing at a Goodwill store that is in 'pristine' condition unless it is given to them new from a retail store because they can't sell it or given to them randomly from someone. It's a good thing that you received in store credit for the stools.

    I think thrift stores may have that 24-hour re-pricing policy on non-tagged items to keep people from removing price tags in the hopes of getting it repriced on the spot for a cheaper amount.

    Luv your channel. But in NY...all countries they closed all the Goodwill and salvation Amy stores plus any independent thrift shop. When your POOR, you can't get any warm clothes or things to decorate where you live. Really living thru you and the Mrs. Thrifting. BTW, my son got our Razors Edge Dela Cruz Gotti line blue nose pitbull from Tennessee at 7 weeks old. My son was a master carpenter, loved pitties. So I would buy a big bag of stuffed animals from Goodwill so our big boys could play, "decapitate" actually their toys. Now my hubby, my son just 46, have passed but are buried in a cemetary, (all their dogs cremated and with their masters). So Tennessee is a special place to me. Thanks for sharing with this old lady. God bless.

    I agree with the method of selling from several different categories. There’s never a shortage of inventory to be found. Just today, going to several different community garage sales, I found doc martens, Birkenstocks, crocs, Ariats, a big bag of vintage Barbies and Kens, a big plastic bin of vintage crocheted afghans (for only a dollar!), plus some new in package items at great prices. Meanwhile this guy kept showing up at some of the same sales asking if they were selling any video games. I never did see him find any (not to say he didn’t), but if you expand your horizons a bit, there’s plenty of stuff to be found. Many people practically give it away, too because they need it gone.

    Just subscribed been watching for a while- my Goodwill, Savers, and opportunity house thrift stores all want to charge eBay retail prices on most of the good items. I find that thrift stores waste too much time to come up dry. ( At least for me) I do my best sourcing from Estate Sales anywhere from 10xto30x and sometimes even more - I even do online estate sales. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge

    I don't like to shop at Goodwill because I find way too many things priced higher than new retail, and often things with higher clearance tags from other stores still on them. I know they don't buy inventory at clearance prices, but sometimes by whole wrapped palates at a very low price. I also don't like how people think they are a charity, and how much the big boss makes each year...

    I used to go to a Goodwill store 3, or 4 times a week, and spend money every time. Then came the time I went, picked out an item to purchase which had a Goodwill price tag on it. Got in the line to pay. When it came my turn I put my item on the conveyor to be scanned. As soon as the cashier looked at my item, and the Goodwill price tag, she stopped, and refused to scan my item, saying that she thought my item should be more expensive than the price on their tag. I`m in their store, looking at their price tag that they put on the item, and they aren`t going to sell it to me. Bait and switch to me. Left the store, and haven`t been back since, and that has been years ago. I hope the lost revenue from my purchases was worth it to them. Oh, almost forgot. For years I donated good quality items to them, and never once asked for a receipt. Now I donate to someone else.

Of course it wasn't the color of the week when the brought it back out. I think it is pretty stupid that they have to do that. Just put a price on it based on what it is and sell it to them.
