    *This is exactly what I needed for trimming the edge of oak boards **MyBest.Tools** I also used the disk to round edges while building an oak - walnut cabinet.*

    Nostalgic....I was using a belt sander to sharpen everythin from chisels to knives 40 years ago. What was once old is now new again...

    That's a pretty interesting system. It appears to basically be a double version of the Lansky system. I still prefer sharpening by hand with my own stones for kitchen knives. There's something relaxing about running knives over the water stones.

  • @MartinMosman
    @MartinMosman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent! That looks like a very easy system to use. We just use some typical sharpening stones that I don’t like to spend a whole lot of time with. As a result; the knives never get all that sharp. That setup looked simple and faster than a traditional stone. Thanks!

    I make knives as a hobby. This is a nice sharpening system but the price makes it a 2 out of 10 at best. I got a kit off of Amazon that is literally 1/10th of the price. Sure it is not quite as simple to use but it is the same idea but well... it is 1/10 of the cost. Thanks for all of your videos John. You are my go to guy.

    One advantage of using this system is keeping fixed sharpening angle all times, and the result is a factory edge. very nice! Happy new year.

    I use a $10 Wustof ceramic rod sharpener. It works great, about a dozen pulls and my knives are good to go for another 6 months. I've got another one for my santoku knife as well. We cook every meal at home from scratch so I use my knives heavily and it's easy to pull the sharpener out of the kitchen drawer, and take care of it right then and there.

    I’ve been purchasing bowie knives and hunting knives or camping I’ve had to buy and return a lot. If they don’t cut the paper like how you do after it’s sharp I return it. I’ve only gotten lucky with three knives two 420hc and one d2 steel knives. But when I use em and they lose their edge I really need me a belt sander but I have whetstones I’ve been using but I heard D2 is harder to sharp but these sanding machines make it look so easy

    It looks like there is a lot of play at the tip of the blade. Is there an accessory to make the entire blade more rigid? Otherwise you will loose the desired angle as stone reaches the end of the stroke.

    I won't talk against the Wicked Edge because it is great if you are in to the Zen of sharpening and it gives you control a belt sander doesn't but if you just want a razor sharp blade, and fast, the belt sander alone is all you need.

    Yo what’s that tool whole set up you used after the belt called? Clamping it then using two whetstones or whatever their called? I never seen that method pretty interesting I’d like to try it also no water to use when sharpening ? Everyone tells me to use water because I use whetstones what stones were you using from 100-1500? Then what’s 1.5 micron stand for?

    Yeah, that’s a sharp knife. But holy crap! I’ve gotten blades that sharp with my $39.95 Lansky system. Check out the price on that system they “sent” him; he didn’t pay for it. $899!!! That’s insane. Won’t be in business long.

    Ooof...that knife was in horrible shape. I kinda cringed a bit when you mentioned a belt sander, but it was definitely in order once I saw how bad that edge was.
    This system reminds me of a much-improved and beefed up Lasko. Looks extremely precise, and it's hard to argue with the results. Very impressive...I'll have to check it out.

    Wicked sharp. Wicked expensive. Very cool design but out of my league. I’ll continue to take our kitchen knives in for sharpening and will continue to encourage my better half to use the steel to keep them that way but I know that is futile...

    • @BruceAUlrich
      @BruceAUlrich 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @johnsholian4318
      @johnsholian4318 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a local shop in a little strip mall nearby and he charges a couple bucks per knife. They come back super sharp and will stay that way for a long time if the aforementioned better half would run a steel over them...
      I use a ceramic filament out of an old industrial high pressure sodium light fixture to tune up my pocket knife.
