- A view of the amazing Scottish scenery taken from across Scotland accompanied by the music The Haughs of Cromdale (Medley) Performed by The 1st Battalion The Queen's Own Highlanders.
The Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons), officially abbreviated "QOHldrs," was an infantry regiment in the Scottish Division of the British Army. It was formed on 7 February 1961 at Redford Barracks, Edinburgh, with the amalgamation of 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders and 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. Due to the Options for Change defence review, however, 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Highlanders was further amalgamated with 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders on 17 September 1994 to form 1st Battalion, The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons).
Piper Findlater, wounded in both legs, started playing this tune in the Battle of Dargai Heights... And the Gordons rose and attacked...
This is the setting of the tune I prefer and play. Always loved my LPs of The Cameron’s. If I remember correctly, the Pipe Major on my LP was A.A.Venters.
When I see the landscapes of Scotland and hear the sound of the bagpipe ... I feel as if the atmosphere of Scotland is in fact full of the sound of the bagpipe, the sound of the wind is not as we know it here, but the sound of the bagpipe, The chirping of birds, the fall of rocks, the collapse of snow ... everything in my imagination tells me;that everything in Scotland produces that magical sound of bagpipes.🎶🎶🎶😍😍😍

When I listen to the sound of bagpipes ,I feel like I stand on the field with full of heather . I've never been Scotland though.

I live about 6 miles from the Haughs of Cromdale and pass through the battlefield often, unlike the lyrics of the song it was not a good day for the Highlanders.
