It’s a common mistake in Philly. Old timers think you can connect plastic pipe like PEX or CTS when using compression fittings just like copper and skip the stainless steel stiffener.
uh-oh, most of those service pex have special fittings with an machined stiffener nipple that goes inside the tubing. instead of a standard pac with insert sleeve.😬 some is pex-al-pex too, couldn't see what they used, but it looked pretty soft to have aluminum layer.
I'm surprised you still use metal pipe underground in 2022! Put the meter and shut-off in a concrete box and run everything else PVC schedule 40 ...install once and the only time you have to fuss with it is if the meter /shutoff goes foul or needs upgrading.
I'm from the south. we don't have streets and stuff like that so I'm curious who actually pays for the repair. hear anything before the meter belongs to the water company. anything after the meter belongs to the customer
I’m am in an apprenticeship for plumbing loving it and love your videos help me out even more.

You should do the right thing and go back to install the stainless steel stiffener!

The good the bad and the ugly. And plumbing definitely ain’t going nowhere.
A life time of work.
Where was the stainless insert in the pex?? Compression fittings including those Pac Joint fittings need the stiffener.
