The shelf life is many years ,and as for how many kits you can paint with them depends on you ,everyone paints differently ,like I have colors I bought in 2020 that I still have almost a full bottle of since I use more than 1 color to paint a kit some just get used for details and others I have sprayed 5 or more kits with and still have half the bottle left ,if I had to guess though out of a 60ml bottle you can probably get 5 to 8 kits depending on how many coats you spray .
Couple of questions: how do you clean the bottles after you exhaust the color? Lacquer thinner? The acetone in there shouldn’t play very nice with plastic. And do you get any paint deterioration after you pre-thin your paints? How long do you figure you can safely keep them stored pre-thinned?
I have never cleaned a bottle since there is a label on it I just buy that same color and reuse the same bottle ,the paint is good for at least 4 years pre thinned maybe more I have never had any paint not stay good ,and the oldest paints I have pre mixed is about 4 or 5 years old now and still no issues ,if you do not want to reuse the bottle for the same color then just throw it away the bottles are very cheap to buy if you look at the links I have in the comment section !
So you use the rapid thinner instead of leveling thinner on metallic to get the flakes to settle evenly when painting? That shine red is beautiful and thank you, I never knew that there is difference between a hobby knife and xacto.
Would you say the thinning ratio is the same for the Mr. Aqueous colors? I mix them 1:1 right now but would of course love to get more paint out of my jars 😅 I'm also using the Leveling Thinner since my local hobby store doesn't sell the aqueous thinner but it works just fine.
I honestly have no idea since I don't use that line because it is not a Lacquer ,I would google it maybe so you get the best ratio but I would assume you would be able to thin it the same since you are using lacquer thinner with it ,try it the worst thing that could happen is you add another half a bottle of the same color to what you pre mixed to get your consistency back !
Thank you for your answer. Didn't find much on google to be honest. Most people say something between 1:1 and 1:2. Some even say 2:1 Paint:Thinner 😅 So I guess I just have to try for myself.
@hammerhead4941 I will.be doing a pre thinning on this line of paont in the near future I just ordered some and from what I have found out you can use isopropyl alcohol to thin or you can use the Mr color leveling thinner and the are recommended to be thinned 2 to 1 so.2 thinner to 1 paint so.same.amounts you should end up with 30 ml of paint
I get all my bottles on amazon they are tattoo ink bottles ,I can add links below in another reply the life of the paint is idk to be honest I have never had to discard any if that helps and I have been doing this hobby for many years now ,just shake your paint up every now and then is the way I do it and it seems to last many years or until you use it all up from the bottle
For Mr color surfacer ? I use 120 ml bottles is what I use it is exactly the correct amount its 1 part paint/surfacer/primer to 2 parts thinner the link for the bottles is in the description of this video
haha this is llke watching a video of myself. nearly identical methodology even down to making my own modo+retarder for way less than mr leveling and imho frankly it sprays better. i wish i could source the sds for it and find out just what is in it. curious where you got the lids for those mr hobby thinners with a flip top? are these old bottles that came like this or aftermarket caps?

i use around 9% retarder 91% thinner with the modo standard thinner and 14% retarder 86% thinner with born standard thinner and from what i can tell 16% retarder and 84% thinner with mr hobby standard thinner all perform very similar to mr hobby leveling thinner @@raular5513

yes the rapid thinner is close to the Gaia metal master thinner but more for less money and the shine red is a nice color for sure
Great tip thanks for sharing just connected to you
What would you say how long these last for you? Like how many kits could you airbrush with hem?
Thank You
