An ode to a place that was my "3rd home". The best playground in the world, sometimes a place of shelter and also a mysterious place at night and also a place to party when we hit our teens. Flint Castle, Flint, North Wales, U.K.

Thanks. The Castle was the perfect, yet dangerous playground for us kids. Imagination was used to turn the dungeon tower into a haunted house, a spaceship, a place of war, just about anything. it then became our nightclub and we always showed respect by disposing of our tins of beer. It is a shame it got vandalised by chavs. I love going back to walk around when I am in Flint. A great place :)

Woody, I must agree with you that Flint Castle was the best playground in the world. I was back home last November and I did spend lots of time there, I felt at home. Don't care for all the handrails and bars....... they were not there when I was young.

@denmason Aye it was many things to us as kids, including a football stadium and when we got older a nightclub. It is a shame that is looks more like a prison with all the bars and railings. It was also a time when us kids had imagination. We did not have playstation, we used our minds and bodies to keep ourselves amused :)
