Listening to this band's music always takes me back to late 90s Taipei, where I met a Belgian boy who introduced me to some amazing music, including dEUs.
Fantastic band! I listened again this evening to their cd Worst Case Scenario from 1994. A fantastic album! I discover them! So now I am watching Deus live videos!
dEus is probably the only band I know that really needs 3 guitars.(look at the foo fighters who absolutely don't need it...) Don't know why they don't do it. I am anyway a huge fan and can't wait to see em again live 🤟
Only 2 guitars there, but I agree the violin kinda counts as one, as a guitar could play similar stuff. Queens Of The Stone Age are also really good at having 3 guitars though
definitely agree with you, instant street should be played with 3 guitars.. to stick to the original track. A band like Placebo is also a band that does need two or even three guitars, it's so obvious when you see them live...
Yes, Bruno had a stroke and the band collectively decided that he should leave to focus on his health. Mauro announced his full-time return at their show in Athens which the rest of the band wasn't aware of. It seems like the new LP has a mix of stuff the band worked on both with Mauro and Bruno, along with a few tracks (1989 comes to mind) that seem to have been made without the input of either of them.

It's lost a bit of its spark after a decade or two, especially live. But then that ominous violin set in, and all of a sudden the spark is back.
