She was sick all week, as she explained between songs, and you could hear in her speaking voice. Yet, she somehow always delivers fantastic performances, even when she's not in top form. I recommend the Amazon Songline special she did-there, you can fully appreciate her voice when it's healthy.
I saw her on Dec. 8th in Portland. She was FANTASTIC. I did notice her coughing off the mic a couple times but as for what she delivered that evening, she was phenomenal. Even when your throat hurts, you also tend to feel a little run-down…that girl probably ran, walked, and danced a few miles around that stage. She did not disappoint. She had the crowd going for the full 90 minutes.
She mentions she's been sick while in the middle of her HMHAS tour. Her version of 'Birds of a Feather' in this event is also amazing. Enjoyed ur reaction, big Billie fan here.
Great reaction!!!! She and her brother are realy amazing making music... Not only for her voice. If you have time to listen her old albums... Are so good, deep amd crazy ❤
If you really want to hear something special - and you want a serious vocal analysis - especially in light of where you said it "harkens back to the 40s and 50s" - you MUST react to her Amazon Music Songline (live) version of "L'amour De Ma Vie" and "Wildflower" (both songs from her new album). They are AMAZING.
You should react to “birds of a feather” from this event and to “the greatest” the late show with Stephen Colbert (she sings there version of this song like original)
She just got back from an 8 month tour and has been sick. She said in her other video from the same set for Apple Music, that she is sick and really run down from literally just getting back from tour. She’s still on tour tho. The hoarseness honestly compliments her voice so much and she understands how to work with it by singing more tenderly. Even sick, this is one of my favorite versions of The Greatest. You really should go down the rabbit hole tho. She has a lot of jazz and old rock influences, and spans so many genres. Check out Birds of a Feather, Wildflower and L’amour De Ma Vie. Side note she almost always pulls the mic to her lap or waist and still sounds fantastic.

I will but this got messed up immediately with copyright protection and has limited view-ability. I disputed it but we’ll see what happens. 😕
There's a live version of this song on the Stephen Colbert show that matches more the album version - though I love both versions.
