Have you considered building a large bat house to help with pest control? They eat around 10000 mosquitoes each per night and, with a proper collection tray, their droppings make a great fertilizer.

I've heard bluebirds will eat tons of mosquitoes to if they're native there.

It would help if you tried native plants. If you had their natural habitat, you wouldn't need to set out the feed. I recommend wild sunflowers instead of the cultivar because they make far more flowers per plant. rudbeckia and coreopsis would also be good for the songbirds and deer. I also recommend prunus angustifolia. The deer love it. It also looks like your pond could use some wetland and aquatic plants. Your area has a ton of potential. keep up the good work. 👍

Native fruit and nut trees and shrubs from your region would be such a cool educational aspect of the pond! I grow native sunflowers in my garden here in CA and they don't even blink at adversity that would kill a seed cultivar. The gophers don't eat them but the migratory songbirds go bananas for their seeds in fall.

I don't think he gives a crap about ecology and creating a responsible wildspace. He's bought into the worldview that doesn't distinguish between native and invasive species, and clearly has more money than sense, given that he thinks it's appropriate to have pumping machinery going 24/7, tons of fertilizer thrown in, and non native Tilapia to control algae that wouldn't be a problem if there were actual plants in the pond. And I'm not sure where he got the idea that his water was murky because of algae eating plankton - that murk is algae.
He doesn't seem to realise that all the problems he faces are because of excess nutrients - and his answer seems to be 'add more nutrients'.
Maybe I'm being unfair to him - he does seem to appreciate wildlife, but he just doesn't know the difference between wildlife and invasive species, or understand how ecosystem works - probably because he listens to industrial fertiliser salesmen.

I have found that without a doubt, regardless of species, the best time to fish is from 3am-6am (about a 1.5-1.0 hours before 1st light till about an hour after the sun is up).

Hey Bama, great content as always! Just a thought on cutting the grass at the edge of the pond, my pond is 14 years old and I'm fighting a battle you can avoid. All the dead leaves, grass and pond weeds end up as organic waste at bottom of the pond. Over the years it creates a type of muck bottom that algae feeds on. I have been doing my best to keep from adding any organic waste I can because it happens naturally as well. I leave a 2 foot edge around my pond and let the plants grow, I leave the ones I like and pull the rest. I have a lot more trees so this helps with blowing leaves as well. At the end of the year I use a small mower with a bag and cut it down. Just a thought so you don't end up in the same boat as I'm in.Keep up the great work my friend.

A long metal pipe, from the edge of the Decking, down into the water, Hit a few times before every feeding
would induce a feeding "Dinner Bell" type gong, sound, letting the fish know, what's coming. Also the comment about Bat's
and a Hanging spot for a colony would be a way of keeping the Mosi and Flys at bay is a brilliant Idea

Also, the good thing to add in my opinion abt the fish conditioning is ...say you use multiple methods i.e.. Sound, Lights,Percussion...You can eventually test the conditioning by singling out one method to see if the conditioning still works or not or also which is more effective. This so Dope to see so many different people coming together and sharing knowledge with one another.

For the feeding alarm, try a piece of steel or iron pipe suspended with a couple of inches in the water. The pipe will act like a gong, above and below the water The sound can be attenuated by using different hammers to ring it. Wood, metal and plastic could be tried until you get the sound you like. The fish won't care as long as there's bait.

Always cool to see your progress!
One thing has been burning in my brain since I found this channel. I know you’ve already done a lot of mental gymnastics… But there’s gotta be a way to have more natural foliage around the pond!
There looks like lots of soil erosion in the lands around the pond too. The water gets all dirty in those heavy rains. There are cool centuries old techniques for slowing down soil erosion.
By mimicking nature more closely, you can pass off some of the habitat management effort. It can do well to filter water, making it more visible. Stabilizes habitats and can cast shade to keep temps down. Replenish oxygen levels etc.
Foliage will attract pollinators, more birds, and a cascading effect of possible at-risk species visitors.
It breaks my heart that the main reason why there is nothing planted around this pond: is that the roots will cause it to be destroyed. I wish you all the patience and energy in your fight against nature. I am learning a lot.
I know there’s gotta be a way to have a pond, just like in a forest, surrounded by trees, bushes, grasses, and lots and lots of nature!
When I finally have a golden opportunity for a project like this, I will try my darnedest to mimic nature and have her do the hard work

That was cool of Maschio to do that for ya. Obviously it’s good product placement, but you should name a bass after them!

10:20 a really neat visual effect is happening whenever the fish swim in front of the light, notice how the green aura around the light shrinks and grows as fish swim around it.... makes sense but it's a really cool and subtle effect.

Bama, I clicked because I watch vids obout homemade ponds and lakes. It turns out I like the bio parts just as much. Happily subscribed! I can only imagine the effort put into making a flowing TH-cam video like this. Keep them coming. You must have 30 hours in your days to get everything done. 😂

Pulsing the underwater lights you've already got sounds like a great way to train the bass.

Sound: A classic sonar ping would be most effective! It’s easily heard and travels well through water

I know some divers that have this neat piece of pipe which has a ball bearing and a tuning fork inside.
it can be heard very clearly and for a long distance underwater.
All you really need is a speaker sealed up in a PVC pipe
    .

Definitely the chorus to 'I'm all about that bass' as the music cue to feeding

You should put out some easter peeps, those little sugary marshmellow chicks. I worked at the K9 academy in Northern Virginia where I would put these peeps in an old tree stump. There were times that the bears would come running as soon as I opened the pack. Even the deer would check the stump to see if the bears left anything behind.

For the feed training program, maybe splashing something in the water first because you mentioned the fish get more aggressive when others begin feeding and splashing the top water.

You are going to love the new camera with wiper. From summer to end of fall, I also watch the Brown Bears of Katmai National Park. One of the cameras installed there has a wiper too and it’s great, because bears fish for salmon rain or shine.

Sound travels well underwater. Something utilizing that to try to trigger feeding would work
