Why This Inexpensive Watch Is My Most Prized Possession

  • My path to becoming interested in watches was not one that happened all at once, but there is one moment that tied me to the world of watches forever, the time I first heard the story of an old watch owned by my great grandfather, Canio. In this video, I'll share a bit of family history through the lens of a relatively simple vintage watch that, for me, represents why I do what I do.

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback on this. I was a bit reluctant to make a video of this style as I knew it would be a very personal video for me to make so I am glad to see it has connected with many. As a cool and important side note, all the music used in this video was composed by my father.

This is a true homage to legacy and family heirlooms. My father gifted me his watch this last Christmas, and it meant the world to me, so I can relate very well to the whole sentiment of familial love through the gift of heirlooms. On a side note, your dad is an amazing storyteller, so it shows where you get it from. FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!!!

I love your channel, Teddy, and have spent hours learning from you.
I've enjoyed countless videos, but this was certainly the most powerful and beautiful video that I've watched here.
Your grandmother gave you two important things on that day, one represents time, one represents faith, but I think that they both represent legacy.
You've inherited your father's gift of storytelling, and are carrying the love, respect, and passion of your family lineage.
I'm confident that Canio and Angelina are very proud of you, Teddy. 🙏

This is so beautiful and wholesome. This is exactly why watches are special to me. My grandfather was a railroad engineer and a few years ago my grandmother passed down his Seiko railroad spec watch to me as he was not able to do because died months before I born. I will be sharing this with my friends because this perfectly captures the heritage and associated seriousness and emotional connection I have with watches. It's all about the story for me and this production shows that beautifully.

Teddy , I always enjoy your videos and often learn things that I hadn't been aware of in the diverse world of watches. That being said , this is my very favorite video that you've done . That is a great American story and in many ways mirrors my own with certain differences. I'm first generation from Ireland. My grandparents on both sides came here , worked hard and pretty much the whole American story as well . I , too, was blessed tk be given my Grandfather's gold pocket watch that he brought with him here and also my father's watch when the day came that he passed . Those are my 2 most important peices , bar none . Again , thanx so much for sharing your family story . It's one to always be proud of.

What a fantastic video, Teddy! Great story and great memories told. And how cool for us to get to know your father a bit. Also, being a musician, kudos to your dad for the soundtrack! You, and your channel, rock. So glad I stumbled across it a couple years ago.

Possibly the best one you have ever published here Teddy. I too have a great grandfather who risked it all to come over here and start a new life with nothing but his clothes from Italy. Thank you for a seemingly simple yet powerful reminder to not loose sight of THE most important thing in life, family. The Monza given to me by my grandfather carries much of the same sentiments for me every time it goes on my wrist.

I was given my grandfather’s Watch one year ago by my father. An Omega seamaster he bought new in the early 60s. He passed away when my father was 6 years old, so for me its a connection to him, and to my father.
Easily one of my most cherished possesions.

Wonderful heartfelt video that is and will be a gem for all Baldassarre's. Your talent at this medium is so profound, I would love to see you producing videos for all the major watch brands, especially historical/biographical sketches of those companies - they would be superb. Thanks for sharing this lovely story.
