Katy! This was such a fun video and what a cool experience. 🫶🏻 Thanks for taking us along with you on this dive into the Parisian antique treasure troves. Looking forward to the haul!
Happy that you had so much fun. So many fantastic collectables in Paris. You really get a sense of what/where American designers got some of their inspiration to make their own great designs. And fun to see that indeed they are collecting 40’s 50’s era designs which got its start in America. A whole world of collecting. Lots of good brass came from India and China. That would be another fun trip. Hope you found something for Babs & safe travels ❤
I hope when you came home, you said something like "OUI OUI BAGGETTE!" to your cat in the most obnoxious accent possible 😆 Seriously tho, what a cool video!! Thrifting while traveling is one of my favorite things, and this is amazing. Thanks for taking us along!
The pitfalls of world travel and naive American’s. We think the whole world is as safe as home. They have pic-pocketing down to an art form in Europe. I try to research everyplace I or loved ones intend to travel to someday. C’est la vie. And hopefully a new appreciation of home. ❤
Exquisitely overstimulating treasures! I'm already imagining how one could Diy that planter. Can't wait to see what you brought home and any inspiration you might pursue recreating some of those unique treasures.😻
You’re so on my wavelength. I looked up the planter and discovered that the top pillow actually comes off for secret storage inside!!!!! I have been thinking about the smartest way to recreate.
@@LaughCryDIY have you seen how they dip silk flowers in plaster of Paris? Maybe you could upholster a hinged box with tassels and use plaster, paint and high gloss clear coat to get a similar effect?
Magnifique! Your shopping expeditions AND your look - that red lip works so well with your hair! I hope you have/had a spectacularly fabulous time in Paris, I’m so sorry about your friend’s ankle and your sacrifice to the streets of Paris, and the unfortunate unaffordability of many of the beautiful things at the Marché aux Puces - glad you found that (exceptionellement chaud) guy’s little shop. Can’t wait for your vid next week!
Very excited to show you the haul. You know, travel is always an adventure. Never know what you’re gonna get, whether it’s an antique treasure or 7 hours in a French ER!
Katy! In Paris-oh lawdy! This helped make my day. I'm so happy that you went to Paris and shopped in those antique shops! That is high on my list and you've given me inspiration to do it this year! I was actually virtually shopping when you were walking around.I love art deco and when you mentioned pink coupe glasses that almost sent me over the edge. The whole vid almost sent me over the edge! You are so funny too-wax stamp to send a ransom note or love letter.
The markets were definitely a bucket list item. And if you can swing it, I would so encourage you to do it! I’m sad to say I did not find the pink coupe glasses of my dreams. But that just mean the hunt continues…
Price is something that is so discouraging. I wonder if one can still find spots that are not so spendy. Probably not in the official antique market, but maybe down some rue or another. It looks like fun though! And I hope your friend heals up quick, cobblestones are a nightmare!
I definitely wish I had more time to pick through the outdoor stalls, which house the more affordable treasures I’m sure. If I lived in Paris, I’d be there every weekend 😂
Bon jour, Katy! So very happy to see you in Paris. My best friend lives in France and I just visited her in September. You look like a natural roaming those shops. Can't wait to see what you bought.
It is SO dangerous. TBH, the price points are crazy unless you’re in the more flea market/swap meet area where you have to dig. Would have loved to do that, but only had so much time.
Katy, you are a hoot!!! Tres charmant. Loved seeing the high-end, high-design, marches. I've only been in a few, but have some favorite textile crafty one. I spent most of my time there in the outdoor flea market area. Great video!! Great style!
Oh please tell me you found an amazing lighter that you could afford! Or better yet....matchbooks😁 So many gorgeous things..I would spend days there. Would love to see the edited stuff too..13 minutes just isn't enough..it's PARIS!!!💋
Oignon, oignon! C'est magnifique! Can't wait for the haul....that place was mind-boggling. I hope you didn't leave poor Chelsea behind! And before j'oublié BONNE ANNIVERSAIRE, fellow Capricornian 🎉🎂🎉
Aha! You got to the other side of the big pond. The Marché au Puces really is a fantastic place to roam all day. It is also hazardous for your wallet. Not because of the expensive pieces, their price in itself is enough to scare you away, but because of those little, reasonably priced trinkets. Before you know your bag is full of them and your wallet is empty...
It’s so true. I am so happy I was able to experience it. Good thing I only had one suitcase. I had to be more intentional. (And, boy, those prices for some things were really shocking.)
I am glad this made you happy. You know nothing about anything you are looking at in the market. That part is really sad. But it was fun for me to go along none the less!
Thank you so much for the video! And love your sense of humor! Quick question: are there shops that open daily in that area? Or they all open on weekends & Mondays? Also a bit surprised that there weren't a lot of people. I'm going next week. Super excited!
I bought a pair of solid brass antique formerly push up candleholders at a yard sale for $4.00!!! Who needs to go to Paris for bargains? The plane fare alone could redecorate a whole room the way I thrift!!! 😄
Katy, you're beautiful out and about make-up ~ I May have spoke too soon regarding your little lighter...is a lighter not just the insert, my bad 🥹🤸 cannot find emoji ofa high kicker hahaha thanxoxoxome, Bon 🌲🌲
They should have a warning about Paris streets I fell on my first day -but I have a sturdy knee apparently had tissue damage and blood so I was able to bus it around to museums- still have a discoloured knee cap since August
Once the tragedy occurred and we were googling, we saw so many people writing about injuries in Paris! I’m glad you were able to power through, although the trauma remains. Poor Chelsea was a trooper on crutches, but it seems the travel gods always want to exact their revenge on us.
Oh My! You could spend an entire day, every day for a week and still not see all that's offered. What a wonderful place to explore! I could spend hours in the book areas, can imagine how beautiful some must be. Would find a vintage compact and purse for my collection. I'm surprised the lighter store didn't have any matches, bummer. And...was he not adorable with his sexy French accent!
Oscar was such a sweetie! I think I was there for 6 hours collectively, and I still didn’t even crack it. I am excited to share what I did get, though.
I love places like this but everything is just so damned expensive. To get the good stuff cheap you have to hunt for it in the French version of goodwill.
Totally. The prices are insane. If I had more time, I would have lived to pop into a proper thrift store or really dig into the bins in the flea market. Still glad I scored some treasures. But yeah, lots of price tags were making me sweat.
You probably know this already! You can haggle the price a lot lower than marked, just say whats your best price on this item? If they say 55 offers 50 or less Sorry if you’re all ready an expert at haggling
@@LaughCryDIY You can do it, ha ha Just say! it lovely! but more than I want to spend, can you do anything on that price, they always come down lol happy haggling 😊
That flea market is literally for the riches...way too overpriced, it's perfect for the rich and famous and also Home Designers looking for rare or particular items for their clients...the real flea markets are the ones in the street laid out on the ground, great bargains that you can afford. (born in France I never liked that flea market, great if you're rich ...but I'm not lol🤣)
Totally know what you mean. I’d been warned about the prices, and it is absolutely for the elites furnishing chateaus and estates. I would have loved to dig into the proper flea market, but just didn’t have enough time to sift through on this trip. Maybe next time…
Googled you as I thought you were too funny not to be doing comedy, firstly I thought "Sh*t, she is dead (and feckin Irish!) and really is haunting that shop!" (Google just your name first and you'll see what I mean) - Had to add American (to Katy French) and found you are a comedian - You should be way more popular, I'm a huge fan of comedy and I'd never heard of you - more people should, you are very very funny.
Katy, you look so happy, looking for treasure in Paris! Loved your red lipstick and French accent! Can't wait to see your next video.
