      Indeed. The sugar tax standard rate (18p per litre) applied to drinks with sugar content between 5 grams (g) and up to (but not including) 8g per 100ml. A higher rate (24p per litre) applied to drinks with sugar content equal to or greater than 8g per 100ml. The journalist is ignorant on the matter and has done no research either.

    • @mattbooth307
      @mattbooth307 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sugar tax needs to go or be reformed. They (the drinks companies) are just loading up their drinks with sweeteners, which actually RAISE blood sugar levels. It's done wonders for dental health, but is absolutely ruining gut health. That's more likely that dental stats have dropped given the severe lack of NHS dentist places. There's many more crohns and colitis diagnoses over the last 10 years since the sugar tax was introduced. They're horrendous chemicals and taste terrible.

      @@SlowhandGreg Starmer is a Eurocommunist (that is basically a left-wing transformer of society by stealth) who would very much like to tell you what to do think, say and do and he would use the power of the state to do it. He is an unabashed Pabloite Marxist and has admitted it in the Spectator magazine. Don’t be fooled by his boring countenance, he is a fully paid-up member of the sexual/identity politics brigade - he is one of those who is reticent to define what a woman is. We had a little taste of him during the Pandemic with the pub incident in Bath, taking the knee in the Commons and photographing it, and suggesting that a law be passed to prevent any discussion of alternative methods to deal with Covid. He wanted harder and longer lockdowns and if he had been the Prime Minister, we would have been strangled like Australia, Canada and New Zealand. If you like that sort of thing then vote Labour but you have been warned. Oh and I haven't even mentioned how he'd make the economy even worse.

      Reform won't win a seat. As for Jimmy Savile, it was Margaret Thatcher and her husband Dennis who ingratiated and encouraged that man. Starmer oversaw a department that dealt with millions of cases. The Savile case would have been considered by lawyers within the CPS , not Starmer . Sadly, if there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute at the time ,there's nothing anyone could do.

    Listening bto Starmer here, I'd vote for him, BUT, he has NEVER ONCE justified the way he has PURGED the Labour movement of ANY traditional values! That leaves the electorate CONFUSED and feeling "cut adrift" without their traditional alternative to the capitalist "divide and conquer" and ultimately "keep 'em well fu@#ed and poorly shod" treatment by traditional commercial pressures, under Tories!
    The UK needs to focus on NATIONAL SECURITY, whether this is military, food production, housing provision, health and welfare, police and judicial, immigration and the deployment of immigrant labour, or returning the PUBLIC UTILITIES to public ownership, so that costs can be managed and the nation can control it's own destiny! (German reliance on Russian oil and gas companies should have alarm bells ringing across the whole of Europe, not just the UK!)
    BREXIT showed the desire of UK citizens to become more INDEPENDENT! ...unfortunately, the Tories didn't have a plan for that, ....and it showed! Many regret that decision because of the lack of obvious results of that non-existent plan! What HAS been achieved, has been in spite of government efforts, rather than "because of" them! If we want NATIONAL SECURITY, we need to be MORE INDEPENDENT! ...but with better alliances and agreements with our neighbours and international partners!
    There will be a great deal of "squealing" from the "feeding troughs", but the return of Nationalisation" but with a 21stC perspective and control, MUST BE a national consideration. Nationalisation, MUST NOT be feared just because it was associated with 1950's and 70's stagnation of industry. It must NOT become a target of "unionisation" and used as a weapon to beat the incumbent government with! This is PURELY and National Security issue! This should be in EVERYONE'S INTEREST, to see succeed!
    The era of "SELF" must end, and and era of "US" and "WE" must prevail! Without this change, we will ALL fail!

    Hipkins should not have conceded on election night, he should have attempted to form an all party coalition shutting out the rural provincial dairy farming reaction of National and Act. Had Hipkins been able to acceot any middle ground western oriented policy built on alluance and unity with the USA, Australia, Japan and Israel. Hipkins seemed unable to cope with the defence polucy developed by Winston and Mark or the 2022 coprosperity trade and security pact with Japan Given any enthusiasm by Hipkins for a liberal middle ground even as seen by Jacibsa and Andrew Little I have no doubt Labour would have achieved 28/9 percent rather than the pathetic 26 percent Hipkins grew. My suspicion is only the revelation that the old roundtable ( Richwhite and Luxton) were prepared to support ex Air NZ CEO Luxton,vrevealed by the donations recealed the day vefore the ekection got National across the line. I am sure Bill English, the ignoble former PM who betrayed everything National would see it the othervway and consider support by the former roundtable cost National at least 2 percent, but I was appalled the National Party was still associating with old chairman Bill English.
