I remember back when you first started this channel and all you had was that little Kubota. You come a long way and it’s been a thrill watching you guys grow.
Good morning Mike. I work for the local municipality here in southwestern Pa. We have several F 550 powerstroke dump trucks with 9 foot J&J aluminum bodies with pto hoists. Let me tell you, they are tuff as nails! I’m very impressed with the durability of the floors. We haul all hind of materials including big rip rap and shot rock the size of beach balls and never have any issues what so ever. We probably haul 5-6 ton all the time and the pto hoist never struggles.
Good morning Mike & Melissa, think about a 550 or 600 with extended wheelbase, flat bed with dump. This is ideal for Lumber & firewood deliveries. Build removable side boards with tailgate similar to your dump trailer. We built brackets at top of sideboard to lift with forks. Really enjoy your channel & look forward to every one. I appreciate your thoughtful ideas. You have a family to be proud of. Happy Thanksgiving!
I am a little surprised that you haven’t considered selling the Bronco yourself instead of trading it in. Dealers can’t offer what you could get by private sale. They have to make a profit. Why not put the extra money in YOUR pocket? Check out what similar Broncos are selling for in Auto Trader. I know, you have unlimited income coming from TH-cam! But, why throw thousands away? One thing you haven’t mentioned about the Powerstroke consideration is the annual maintenance costs. You will have three diesel engines to maintain. I know, you have unlimited TH-cam money coming in! 😂. Just some thoughts you haven’t talked about.
I know it's a pain, but you would get more out of the Bronco if you sell it yourself. Diesel in the dump truck best option. PTO is by far the better option. I hate how slow dump trailers are with electric over hydraulic.
Mike, I would offer them knocking off 5000 on the the XLT. The dealer is going to have issues selling that truck because it is so optioned up. You are planning to spend a lot of time in it, and you are getting older. Comfort is important. That XLT has everything you are looking for. Ordering has all the problems you have experienced twice now. You could progress right to setting a box on it and work with it by Christmas, or early Spring. Just saying. And to be honest, 2000 off is nothing. The dealer is got 7 to 10 to play with on that truck. I'd offer 7000 off. You have bought two vehicles in the past couple of years, and gotten beat up over supply issues. That may happen again. You need it now. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Lastly, look at the cost difference between an XL and the XLT. You are probably be looking at 5000 less for the XL. Give them an offer that gets you into the XLT for the same $. That would be a win win in my book.
I agree wholeheartedly on this . That F550 is too fancy for 99% of the people looking for a commercial vehicle . The dealer is going to sit on it for some time to come . Go back after business hours and really look at it and think on it some more . Another thing , somewhere in the fine print on the window sticker it should give the date it was built and where it was shipped to originally. This truck may have been passed around between dealerships trying to find a buyer for it . See if you can find a Carfax report on it , that will tell you if it's been passed around . Anyway the more information you have on it , the better deal YOU can make on it . Good luck .
I agree that further negotiations should be attempted for the XLT. It’s here and it’s in a different inventory category for the dealer because it’s a cancelled order. But there’s also the great customer factor. This would be your third vehicle purchase from them in three years AND you are bringing them a trade that will be sold before you even hand it over (dealers always have a list of premium+ customers who get a call when a good one comes in). Bronco plus 7000 under sticker. They’ll take it. 🥸👍👀✅ 🛻
I am with these guys. Have you ever heard the George Strait lyric “I never saw a hearse with a luggage rack”? You can’t take it with you and you will enjoy the ride of that bronze F-550 every time you get in it. I also think the dealership isn’t done working with you. The end of the month is coming up next week, they will want the sale!!!
@@roncole6368 not only the end of the month, but Christmas is also coming up fast . A quick sale makes for a nice bonus . Go back in Mike and tell them that they need to sharpen their pencil and you can make this happen today , here and now . Otherwise I'm going shopping . They have to know that you went shopping and bought the GMC when Ford wasn't building the Super Duty in a timely manner .
Mike when i was growing up my father had a garbage route we had three 5 ton dump trucks all had steel boxes with 4 2x10 overload boards for coal. We hauled anything bengal wood and coal combination stoves, they came in three sizes, 500 lb, 1000 lb and 1500 lbs. If one slid in a aluminum box it would rip the side right off. After working on those trucks for over 20 years we had seen alot of stuff happen. Get the steel box get the hydraulic pto, and when you park it for awhile if its out in the weather, lift the box enough to get pieces of 4x4 in there, that will take the pressure of the cylinder when you lower it on the blocks and keep your seals from leaking.Just remember to take blocks out before loading.
I’d go back and make a counter offer on that 550 they have on the lot because if it’s a canceled order they will have more incentive to make a deal. Also by the time you order and get a body your value will go down on the Bronco. Just my thought. The more comfort you build into that dump truck the better you will like it. I’m glad you’re thinking diesel. Low end torque always come in handy. That 4wd on the 550 would be mighty handy in what you like to do. Just my opinion.
Broncos are sitting all over the lots in my local area. What went from a hot vehicle now nobody wants them. I think the hype is wore off and people have realized they’re not the vehicle everyone suspected.
Hello Mike. Great channel. I never miss a video. the reason you get good mileage with your pickup trucks is the 10-speed automatic combined with a high rear end ratio. 3.73 or lower. The Power stroke 6.7's XL models like I have come with a 6-speed automatic and a 3.73 rear, and I get about 11 mpg towing and about 15 mpg not towing. The 550 will probably have a 4:30 or 4:88 rear or higher and probably a 6-speed transmission as well. Not a good economy setup. But...they are a beast.
Mike, I have 5 F550 dump bodies of either tree chip trucks or dumps with electric over hydraulic. We dump 1 or 2 times everyday. They have years of service. Save the money and put the extra money towards the aluminum body. Our one aluminum chip body from J&J is 23 years old. Still looks great. We have replaced a couple over the years and the units are about $500 from Northern. Thanks for the great videos.
I am watching this the day before Thanksgiving and I wanted to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the Morgans and their community. I am THANKFUL to have this channel to watch!!! Have a day!
Definitely diesel, steel, and PTO drive PTO gives you control over maintenance because it’s just oil I wouldn’t drop firewood into an alloy body ,it will dent and alloy wears quicker as well Good luck Cheers from Aus
It's always best to back into parking spots with these larger trucks. When i bought my first F-250 i got stuck in a parking lot because i could not back up far enough to clear the vehicle beside me. The angled parking spots are not so bad but i always back into the 90 degree parking spots from that day on.
Hey Mike. We have (2) 2020 Chevy 5500 Dump trucks. 1 is electric and the other PTO. The PTO is preferable but you have to have it in park with your foot on the brake and the parking brake set. Additionally there is no throttle control when dumping. All the safety measures built in are overkill in my opinion. We operate Dodge units as well but those all have electric dumps. We've never had any problems out of them but as you mentioned they are slow. Hope this is helpful.
The company I work for has diesel T-Tags (Cummins Ram 5500’s) with electric dump body’s. If it fits it ships if you know what I mean and we have no issues with them dumping. They get abused, many times we need to dig the material out of the beds with skid steers or excavators while backfilling holes. They hold up great. I was skeptical at first because of how slow they can be but like you mentioned the cost is always a factor. Get what YOU need! Have a good one!
Another thing is if one of the trucks goes down or is out for service, you can jump in the other one and keep on schedule. Lots of options there with the two.
Darn tootin!!!!! when i bought my "12 450 6.7 I already had my "01 7.3 350. The few times my 6.7 was indisposed, my 7.3 sho came in handy. My 7.3 was put in semi-retirement after 11 years of pullin weight. 7.3 is now my grocery getter, (sort of)
Mike had both electric and pto driven dumps in my business. The electric was one and done. Slow, struggled with a full box, and like all electric motors susceptible to burn out. Luckily it was under warranty but converted it to pto and all others ordered were pto. I agree with some of the other posters - negotiate on that truck on the lot. They're floor planning it, it's going to be a hard sell, your Bronco will go down in value, and who knows how long it will take to get a new one. Yeah, it might be over optioned for local use, but willl be much more comfortable and most importantly quieter on trips to WVA.
Empty around town I'm average 12.5 to 13.4 in my 22 F350 with 4.30s. 7.3 gas. Highway empty I believe I could see 14.5 ish. But pretty much all my highway milage I've been towing that's been between 10 and 11mpg.
Might want to look at the Chevy 5500's, they don't seem to be quite so dear on price. Local dealer has one including the dump bed for 81K with a diesel.
Mike, if your going to keep it for a while, I would go with the gas motor and the pto , take the difference you save in the motor and buy the aluminum box. For the few times you will drive it to West Virginia it’s not worth the hassle the diesel will cause you in the long run. Those short runs delivering firewood and rock will kill that diesel’s emissions system. Imo. good luck . Love the videos
Yes, the emission system needs heat to work right. So short trips won't be good for it. If it is turbocharged, make sure to let it idle for a minute or so after a hard run. The turbo needs to cool down so it doesn't cook the oil in the bearing.
For the town here, Public Works, I drive a 2017 F450 with the V-10 gas with a masons dump. Aluminum. It averages 6.5 MPG around town. Unloaded. I can squeeze 7.5 - 8 on the open road.
My 2018 SD has just over 40K miles on it. Got it Jan 2020 for $38K with 26,000 miles. I've seen it and others comp out at over 55-57K on CarGurus, KBB, etc.. and had the dealer offer to buy it back. Friends and family sold their trucks but I held on because it really did come in handy when I needed it. I have a KX-040, a 50H tractor and such, plus made a big move recently. At any rate, if you're watching Economic news, Rail Traffic at the end of 2020, 21 and most of 2022 was higher than it is now. Distillate demand is way down too. (forget oil, gas, Distillates go into everything we touch. The entire interior of a vehicle, tires, etc...)... I would hold out and maybe buy a dump trailer for now. My 2018 SD has now returned to just over 40K. That's huge. I'm not unhappy, I'm saying unload that Bronco while you still can. I could have made $8000-15,000 on my truck at the peak, maybe even higher if I am to believe the offer and reference vehicles out there. 69K for a Bronco? I'm not even going to comment. Get rid of it and save the difference for a nice truck after the dust settles out in this economy.
I owned 3 Mustangs beginning with 1966. My last one was a 1978 Mustang II. I was living in Northern VA at the time and saw one which was Walnutfire a dark brown metallic. I was in love. There was also a metallic Navy which I loved. One night I visited a dealership in Arlington which had a gravel lot. OH my. When you got a speck of dust on either of those colors it really showed up. I ended up w/ Chamois Tan (I called it peach) which did not show up dust and dirt. I drove it for 16 years.
My work had an E-450 Box Van with the 7.3 gas engine that we use everyday. It is always loaded heavy and doesn't struggle pulling the weight at all. I highly recommend looking into the gas engine. We have bigger diesel trucks in our fleet and the maintenance costs on the emission control systems and fuel system repairs are astronomical!
With full size pickups its far easier to back it the parking spaces at the store than to try and pull in head first. also easier to get out of the space,
Sorry comment sent before finished. Just a heads up for you, we run five f-550 power strokes on my crew. When you purchase a cab and chassis vs bed truck(pickup) they run a way smaller turbo 100hp less. I’m a ford guy and love PS engines but the cab and chassis set up is garbage. We have constant Tunis blowing, with has takin one engine with. Deleted our older ones which helped a bit but power loss is big with cab and chassis.
I have a 82 GMC dump truck the dump bed on it is PTO driven The truck is a standard trans. I am replacing the bed with a zoresco dump bed it's electric over hydraulic the reason I'm changing it is because the floor in the bed is rusted out and it was cheaper to put the zoresco bed on then to buy steel to fix the current bed floor oh and not to mention the zoresco bed came with the truck when I bought it.
from my past experience, if i was to build one, i'd get a 3/4 cab roll that comes out to the top of the windshield...Full cab roll comes out past the roof/windshield...and most important, get a taller tailgate...24" is not high enuff to let some material flow out easily...36" would be my Choice, but 30" if youre going to be letting it down flat alot...and even if youre getting a steel body, get aluminum tailgate...coal door is nice if youre dumping gravel into a loader bucket...tarp system and chain hooks can be added later, but its nice to get all that stuff done and out of the way...
XLT, PTO! A long time ago I bought a dodge ramcharger that was custom ordered for the pipeline in Alaska (I was in the Air Force in Alaska). I got an excellent deal on it. They can make deals better on custom ordered trucks, I believe!
In your previous post about trading in one of them, I posted about 4 replies explaining to you that you are easily losing at least 6 thousand dollars by trading a vehicle in. Sell it outright, and then do a dealer courtesy trade whereby the buyer comes with you to the dealership, they handle all of the paperwork, and you only pay the sales tax on the difference between the two vehicles instead of the whole new purchase. I have a couple of other suggestions for you as well like get one that is the same color as the Ford pickup already, I like the idea of a fleet color in the event you get an inspiration and start doing excavating as a side business etc. Oh well, read my other comments which go into a lot of detail. Love this channel.
The GMC gives more versatility if you have the ford tied up you could still tow. You might want to put a good top for the bed though if it's a shopping vehicle.
In 2020 I bought a new Ranger XLT. I absolutely love it. It has just under 12K miles on it. I took it in for an oil change. And a salesman offered me 2 K more than I paid for it on a trade for a Ranger Lariat. I was tempted till I heard the out the door price on the 2024 Ranger was 50K. No thanks, I'll keep my 2020. Looking forward to see what dumptruck you get.
I’m a fan of diesels. I have a buddy that’s a GM at the ford dealership. He told me before I brought my truck that when it comes to HD trucks they are hard to resale when they are gas. So that’s why most people lose money on them. Dealers would rather just sale diesels. Only time they get HD gas is when they are special ordered or when they are the only allocations available. Not sure if that helps or makes sense but I’m sure you’re wise enough to do the right thing for you. Thanks for the video!
I completely agree with you on the diesel however, my question would be how an aluminum box would hold up over time compared to a steel one, over time.
My buddy just traded off a REAL dump truck he had for 25 years with an aluminum box. They last just fine. His new quad axle dump has an aluminum box on it, as does the 2 axle pup trailer.
4-550’s & 1-600 here I would suggest 600 w/diesel , regular cab , 11’ steel dump electric hoist, & if you can have the dealer source one from a bailment pool all ready up-fitted it will be more economical
I had one of the first Opel Cadet wagons imported into the US. The motor needed an overhaul. I didn't have a chain hoist at the time so I stripped it down to a short block, unbolted it and picked it up and put it on the work bench. I wouldn't even think about trying that again.
You have a bunch of great options ahead of you. I would most definitely get a diesel, especially if you plan to do any open road travel, going back and forth to West Virginia and back. The silliest thing that has ever been built is a gas motor, doing any sort of heavy hauling and especially putting one in an ambulance. I think you're right on getting rid of the Bronco. It's more of a just starting family vehicle. Y'all have a blessed HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I think you made the right choice and am glad your considering the diesel for the dump truck, after driving the diesels I think you'd have been disappointed. The difference in the torque makes all the difference moving heavy loads. Also I realize diesel is more expensive but I believe the fuel economy between gas and diesel hopefully will more than make up the difference. I had a gas dump truck and the mileage was pitiful glad I got rid if it. Your right about the emissions, on earlier diesels was pretty bad but they had to rush it to meet government requirements but they have a pretty good grasp on it now fewer problems now compered to the earlier stuff. Good luck hope you find the one you want at a decent price point, Those sticker prices are a little scary now days.
Hi Mike. A load in the dump bed and a trailer behind you and I think you will be much happier with the diesel. Happy Thanksgiving and congratulations on your new grandson. Tony
Good call Melissa, sporty vehicles are fun, just not practical. The wife is 56 & loves driving her F150 & I have a F250 power stroke. So it’s a truck family here as well.
Aluminum body verses steel. If you're concerned about denting the body, horse stable mats can be installed in the bed, so that you have a 1/2" of rubber in the bed to keep the dents from occurring. A steel bed while cheaper, weighs more than aluminum and have corrosion issues around the welds. IMO powder coat once the coating is scratched, will peel off in sheets. I'd look into installing a horse stable mat in the bed for dent resistance.
I agree with the guys who say go with that bronze XLT. You obviously love it and unlike a pickup, you’re going to own it for quite a long time. The few extra grand you spend now will seem a lot less important in 5 maybe 10 years from now when you still smile every time you get in it.
Good day Morgan’s. Mike can I make a suggestion on a F550. If your planning to use it to go to the other property maybe get an extended cab pick up so you have the extra space for the box that you haul in the back of your other trucks and extra stuff to keep safe out of the weather. Just an extra idea to think about. Have a great thanksgiving all
We bought a brand new XL Super Duty last week with the 6.7 and a 8' bed. Great truck!! Of course, I've been driving a 2003 F250 with a 6.0 for years, so anything is an improvement over that😂
Myself the 7.3L wound have been cheaper in maintaining department. As for the power 7.3L will produce all the power for your needs. Just my opinion. Have a great day.
As a retired IT Manager for a dealership group I found this episode very interesting. The appraisal of the Bronco feels light, especially given current prices. As to the F550, spring for the XLT. Since it will be doing highway occasionally for hours and your not as young as you used to be you deserve the comfort it provides.
Mike, check out the Switch-N-Go system. They are made in PA, Bucks Fabrication. The options are tremendous. We have two cab and chassis equipped with switch-n-go system.
Just saying. I have never delt with a dump truck but I have had RVs with electric or hydraulic jacks and electric is a lot (and might stress) a lot slower than hydraulic. So, may I suggest that you take the time to check both of them for yourself before making a commitment to one or the other. Thanks for the great video and have a blessed day.
Glad to see you went with the diesel option Mike. Now, before You pull the plug, consider the 26gvwr F650. Like you say, TH-cam may not be around for ever and long term with mini and skid you are set up for excavating. Don’t limit your dump truck thoughts to just firewood…
Hey Mike, I very much appreciate your videos. Typically you can get the Ford trucks at invoice, but if not you may try getting an X-Plan pin. You can sign up for EAA membership for $48 and request a X-Plan pin. 😊 X-Plan is very close to invoice pricing and is a set price.
Thank you for sharing this for me a vehicle shopping class. Very interesting 🤔 But i agree with the other commenters 😊treat yourself Get the XLT👍You deserve it!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Until next time sending love and support from Florida 🌺💫💫💫😊🥰
One thing we found and having a gas truck when you have a trailer on it you cannot go to the semi pumps because it’s gas and so sometimes it’s kind of a pain in the butt to get fuel
Melissa, we think you made the best choice!! We admire you tenacity and level headedness! After thought this suv failed rearend crash test worst of class! Best wishes to you and family.
I think you guys made a great decision. Like Melissa was saying about parking in the back, she's right but after a while you get used to it. I don't even look for a place up front, I just park where it's fairly open
I bought a new car and parked it in the middle of nowhere not another vehicle around for 15-20 spaces and came out from eating guess what there was a car parked right next to my and all the other spaces was still empty. So it’s hard to tell what others are thinking
My problem with the diesel is when they break down it is expensive. The cost of a turbo and injectors you can replace a gas engine. Not to mention the cost of the emmison crap when it fails, and it will.
Mike I would try to make a deal on the XLT. They have room to move on price. You will be happier in that truck in the long run. Hope you can cut a deal and not worry about ordering another truck and not knowing when it will come. Good luck and keep us posted. Cheers
Hi Mike. Try to sweeten that deal on the XLT. It's there because they had a deal fall through. They don't want that truck sitting on their floor plan. And check out what Carmax will give you for the Bronco. Sometimes they will surprise you. Use it for leverage with the Ford dealer. I looked at all the add ons on the XLT. Looks like it totaled about $7K over the price of the diesel add on. Sure there's a little bling thrown in, but heck you only live once. Tell your wife it will help the resale down the road. Ya'll would look good in that truck. Heck the polished aluminum wheels are lighter than the standard steel ones. Decreased sprung weight increases efficiency. There ya go.
Mike I think you will not regret getting an aluminum dump body from super city I own a landscaping business and I have thrown everything and the sun at my eby dump body and it still looks like it brand new. electric over hydraulic is they way I went after talking to people with the pto transmission version and having transmission issue after putting it into gear hundreds if not thousands of times. the transmission can begin to have excessive wear and problems just my 2cents
A lot of guys around NE Ohio do stainless dump bodies. A lot of those dump beds rust inside out. I’m sure the cost is more. But longevity might be worth it. Pto will definitely be a stronger and quicker dump. Diesel for me is a no brained.
Interesting story MUST READ! Back around 1976-77 I saw a TEST Ford diesel truck broken down on interstate 64 west going up Afton mountain in Virginia. I pulled over to see if the person needed help and met the person driving it and he explained that he was with Ford and they were developing the diesel engine driven truck. The engine was partially exposed and quite the site to see. Interesting how vehicles have evolved. Most amazing was actually seeing a TEST Ford diesel engine truck. Enjoy watching your videos. VA Woman!
I think your making a good decision trading the Bronco, Ford has had loads of engine issues with the 2.7 dropping values. The 7.3 Godzilla has also been having issues with the camshaft delaminating. So your decision to option the diesel for the dump truck is a wise move. I know all vehicles / manufacturers have their own issues but Ford do seem to be dropping the ball lately with these powertrain defect. Definitely worth haggling over the truck on the lot. The options would put a lot of work truck buys off. That only want the basic trim. So you could get the bells and whistles and end up with a great deal.
Just listening to you, go for the XLT. I believe you would consider it a mistake in the future if you settle for something less. I thought the trade in offer was generous. Most vehicles lose $10,000 of value the second you drive the off the lot.
If the XLT was special ordered a while ago, the price reflects the price at that time. If you order a new XL now, with the way prices have been climbing, the new XL price may not end up being that far off the XLT. Worth a check.
If you don't plan on keeping the Diesel past the warranty period you will be good. If you plan on keeping it for a long time I would go with the gas model. Repairs on the exhaust after treatment system are very expensive if it's coming out of your pocket. I work in the heavy equipment industry a large portion of the service issues are with emissions equipment.
I have owned both Diesel and Gas HD trucks. 1997 F-250 4x4 extended cab with 7.3 Powerstroke with a after market tuner and intercooler. 2002 F-250 4x4 4 door all stock and now a 2010 F-250 4x4 4 door 6.8L V-10 gas all great trucks. The Diesels required a lot more expensive repairs lucky for me they were covered under warranty. the 1997 required $5000 worth of injectors. The 2010 needed a coil pack and spark plugs which I did myself for less than $100. The Diesels got better mileage but I don't think I will ever own another one. 7.3 Godzilla will power my next truck. I never buy new usually 3-5 years old.
With the diesel option costing more initially and maintenance being higher but you could possibly put in a 500 or 1000gal underground storage tank and have plenty of fuel for your tractors and other equipment as well? The greenies seem hell bent on making diesel obsolete even though it powers the world economy from tractor trailers to ocean going freighters.
Every vehicle i have tried to sell i have had it professionally detailed. Priced it according to Edmonds and Kelly Blue Book. Put in in front of my house on a major hiway. They all sold in less than a week. The record was 2 days. You get top dollar doing it this way. Even if you spend several hundred dollars on the detailing you will get it back. Potential buyers will be lining up for it.
Mike, here's a thought - to maintain todays value on the Bronco, turn it in now as you order you XL. You'll also save on PA. property tax. I sold and did the ordering for fords trucks from 1992 through the 2008. Back then you always got your money back when trading in or selling a diesel privately. Not to mention fuel savings (diesel fuel/gas price dependent). There is an up charge to diesel maintenance. 13 qts vs. 8, etc. Back then an oil filter was $25 compared to 9. Best wishes which ever way you go. Happy THANKSGIVING!
Happy Thanksgiving Morgan's. Bronco is no big loss. Melissa it's easier to back into parking stalls with the cameras then driving in. Trucks don't turn sharp like other vehicles do.
Bronco gets my vote ❤❤❤❤
Well said. Pto! Pto! And you should have made that deal if they would have done a few gand better!
That would be a win win in my book.
words of wisdom....
Mike when i was growing up my father had a garbage route we had three 5 ton dump
trucks all had steel boxes with 4 2x10 overload boards for coal. We hauled anything
bengal wood and coal combination stoves, they came in three sizes, 500 lb, 1000 lb
and 1500 lbs. If one slid in a aluminum box it would rip the side right off. After working
on those trucks for over 20 years we had seen alot of stuff happen. Get the steel box
get the hydraulic pto, and when you park it for awhile if its out in the weather, lift the box
enough to get pieces of 4x4 in there, that will take the pressure of the cylinder when you
lower it on the blocks and keep your seals from leaking.Just remember to take blocks
out before loading.
i like that black one..look like it has extra frame collars around frame,,for extra support.. and get alm dump bed..last a long time..
My thoughts exactly. The trade-in on the Bronco is going to keep going down. Dump it now. Either trade it or sell it.
Broncos are sitting all over the lots in my local area. What went from a hot vehicle now nobody wants them. I think the hype is wore off and people have realized they’re not the vehicle everyone suspected.
@@skoffcoToo much damn money for what you are getting. $58k!? Get the hell out of here.
Have a day!
I have the PTO on my 99 f350 love it. You cant go wrong with the xlt especially traveling
Definitely diesel, steel, and PTO drive
PTO gives you control over maintenance because it’s just oil
I wouldn’t drop firewood into an alloy body ,it will dent and alloy wears quicker as well
Good luck
Cheers from Aus
It's always best to back into parking spots with these larger trucks. When i bought my first F-250 i got stuck in a parking lot because i could not back up far enough to clear the vehicle beside me. The angled parking spots are not so bad but i always back into the 90 degree parking spots from that day on.
Mike, I dealt with both the electric and pto version for over 30 years. We had less problems with the pto.
Good info
I had a 1967 Ford Bronco years ago , fixed it all up with off road goodies, wish i had it back!
Good choice on the diesel and parting with the Bronco. Dump truck will get more use, especially with side hustles.
There is more room in the back seat of my Sierra than my Honda Odyssey. I was surprised. Glad you kept the Sierra..
from my past experience, if i was to build one, i'd get a 3/4 cab roll that comes out to the top of the windshield...Full cab roll comes out past the roof/windshield...and most important, get a taller tailgate...24" is not high enuff to let some material flow out easily...36" would be my Choice, but 30" if youre going to be letting it down flat alot...and even if youre getting a steel body, get aluminum tailgate...coal door is nice if youre dumping gravel into a loader bucket...tarp system and chain hooks can be added later, but its nice to get all that stuff done and out of the way...
Mike, the pto option is the best way to in my experience with trucks
Great number on the Bronco, our local dealer has been sitting on 33,they have not been moving, they are not a big dealership.
You also have to consider that the trade offsets sales tax. (At least it does in Florida)
4-550’s & 1-600 here I would suggest 600 w/diesel , regular cab , 11’ steel dump electric hoist, & if you can have the dealer source one from a bailment pool all ready up-fitted it will be more economical
We Had a retriever named Piper when I was a kid. Great dog, always into some mischief.
Y'all have a blessed HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
i use build the exhaust systems for those fords when i was a weld engineer for tenneco and purem
on the mpgs mike.... the tires have alot to do with it.. as well as driver habits... Soft pedal, or lead foot... up to 30% difference in mpgs
Good choice Melissa!!! And you’ll figure out the parking. The trucks for you guys work tons better
That Crysteel Dump box is made in Lake Crystal MN. Used to live in MN and still have family there. So I drive past the manufacturer whenever I visit.
Good decision to keep the GMC over the Bronco ... I would do the aluminum body and PTO. Do it once and do it right :) Have a great day ..
With 3 vehicles that use diesel you can get a fuel tank at your house. You should get a discount for volume
Mike Tri Star im Blairsville has f550 s on their lot. Some have the modular dump body already installed
Good morning Morgan’s, Have a day!! Bronco is the one to go! Good choice Melissa!!
Melissa made a great choice! Kelly Blue book for your Bronco is $52,329 for your zip code. Always enjoy your posts.
I thought 50k was a pretty good offer. I'm not sure you'd get more than that selling outright
Man, if I was spending your money, would hand over the Bronco today for that Bronze 550. Fun to see your progress
Hey Mike,
I very much appreciate your videos.
Very interesting 🤔
But i agree with the other commenters 😊treat yourself
Get the XLT👍You deserve it!!
I’d get the PTO used them in tow trucks but I never had to service or pay for it.
Aluminum is easy to tare up.low rear in those big trucks, gas will do any thing you need to do.just think no diesel exhaust fluid.
@@mikeharris2985I hear you. You can park 5 miles away and count on someone slammed right up against. Never could figure it out.
Super city is a great place for a bed. They make good beds. I work for a Township and had many made there.
Before you decide on a body check out Morocco and J&J body's. They are both in Somerset also.
I'm never going back to gas Mike. My 2020 Denali is the final say in trucks for me. Thanks for the videos as usual. Todd in NH.
If the XLT was special ordered a while ago, the price reflects the price at that time. If you order a new XL now, with the way prices have been climbing, the new XL price may not end up being that far off the XLT. Worth a check.
Agree 💯 % !!
WOW I COMMENTED BEFORE I HEARD YOUR DECISION, HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I dont know if anyone has told you but cab and chassis trucks a tuned down over a truck with a bed. Sometimes as much as 100 hp.
I have had 5 f550 7.3 diesels with 16’ boxes 10 mile per gal tops
good choice folks. why not use the might suburu for small errands god blees the morgans go hunter go .
Trust me I've had a lot experience with the Little trucks you want the PTO
Few months ago front of our house Bronco parked brand new he said Tires sticking out bodie inside he said that and I said you are right
If you don't plan on keeping the Diesel past the warranty period you will be good.
I was actually waiting for you to turn the camera and show the 550 XLT in the driveway
Sorry if I missed it, have you covered the Kubota door replacement and costs yet?
I’m just glad you didn’t wait till the very end to reveal it.
550 bronze on the lot. You’ll use it a lot going back and forth to w. Virginia.
