      I'm glad you spoke to "sell similar," as everyone suggests. One person did say that you may easily lose some of your standard info and forget to check it before you have the list go live. Doing it for your own items is golden. Good to know about template loss, too.

    Thanks, Don! I never would have considered the “stuff” that comes with “sell one like this “. That’s usually how I start my listings, didn’t think about selling similar from my own listings.

    For items that are different colors: make sure you edit well before you list.
    Example
    I see many times a tee-shirt will say green medium, but it will be red.
    Or
    Size not changed
    Medium to large.
    Thanks for all your useful ideas and sharing your experiences.

    One time I did sell similar and several days later I noticed my listing was priced in British pounds! I couldn't figure out what happened. Then I remembered I did sell similar and the original listing was from a UK seller, lol. Opps!

    Why do you "contaminate" the Title with the item location,

    Just started listing my metal detecting finds from this year, I didn't dig anything super significant this year, nothing over the 100 dollar range.
    I found a shoreline with a bunch of old coins ranging from the late 1700s to the late 1900s, but most of them were eaten up badly.
    I think my favorite find of the year was a sawed off shotgun that the police tied to a crime.

    Is there any actual documentation done that metadata affects Google keyword searches or someone finding your listings? I have never heard of it messing with sales using sell similar. And wouldn't you want your listings to be filled with item specifics to stand out from other listings I get this is about saving time but wouldn't that affect your listings when people are doing searches on eBay and Google, I get that the title is key but what about other specifics that don't fit in the title.

  • @RunTFC

    I watched your video all the way to the end but am still confused at what staging means. You said be sure to list all similar things together so is that all it is...basically being organized in listing similar things as to save time? BTW, I have never sold anything on eBay, just trying to learn all the ins and outs.

    Some great information here, I use create listings all the time when I list an item. I never copy anyone else's listing in any way, I may get some ideas off the sold item pages of the same item I am selling. When doing my listing, quite a few times I have pressed the list item, and the whole lot has disappeared with an eBay error, so I have had to do the whole thing again. Now that is frustrating for sure and gets me so mad, I have to walk away & get a drink & calm down before doing it again. Excellent tips for everyone on listing items. Thank you so much, Don. I always sell similar, its like a template. I just change the title and anything else that not related to my item. Most importantly I make sure the postage is right and I always use my own photos. Works for me but If you have time to do it from scratch, more power to ya. By the way, I post with the ebay app and not a computer.

    • @richardbianco9674
      @richardbianco9674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, I do this 99% of the time, especially from a listing that actually sold. I'll double check info and I do my own title. But if it's coming from a sold, they had to do something right. Also, we routinely show up high on google/ search engine results even doing it that way so I'll stick to what works for us. Sales are also strong

  • @TheRollingCoinStore

    Sometimes I sell similar and I really don't see any big issues with it. What works the best for me is checking worthpoint highest to lowest and copying that title and tweaking it out a little bit. If I have a lot of competition I might even throw in an emoji in the title. That seems to work well. Another trick I like to do is shill watch my listings on a few accounts right after I list them. Sometimes buyers can see there are a lot of watchers on an item and feel a sense of urgency to buy.

    • @fulltimehangers
      @fulltimehangers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn't put emojis in your title or anywhere else in your listing lol, I've seen a bunch of TH-cam videos that say this messes with Googles keyword searches, same thing with all caps and weird characters.

      If you are doing listings of that amount & more Mary, I think I would think about starting a store. I personally don't have a store as I only do a few listings a month, but if you feel you could do a store then go for it. The very best of luck to you Mary.

    Thank you, I had no idea of possible consequences of "Sell Similar" of someone else's listing. Add one more thing to the "Do Not Do" list.
    I've been creating listings than adding photos usine my phone. I want to up my game and get a quality camera set up. I looked at your amazon link to listing items and there are multiple cameras listed, many no longer for sale. I sell primarily books, cds, dvds, records and a few larger home office items (typewriters, printers, scanners). Do you have a current recommendation for type of camera that would work well? I liked how easy it was for you to grab the photos from the SD card.
    Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. It is so very appreciated.

    Thanks for pointing out the enlargement symbol re pix. That's going to save a lot of time rather than strain eyes looking thru camera viewfinder for micro shot. I too do not use templates: they're outdated by the time I use 1 so no. Still have issues with ebay wanting me to lie about country of origin: sure, suggest it's made in Japan even though box says China...really? 99.9% anime goods made in China. I usually have a separate box: Country of Origin Intellectual Property: Japan while I stay honest about manufacture Country of Origin: China. So far so good.

    Great info! I will also start staging like items when scanning & posting items. Questions: 1) wondering why you do not select the option of using a large picture in your listing, or was this just an oversight? As you know, Gallery Plus is free in collectibles (as long as eBay fixed that glitch); 2) with all your focus on streamlining your items, why not use the volume discounts eBay offers, as that would save time having to answer buyer questions?

  • @biffboffo

    I can't believe they still have the eras named in respect to World Wars. Most postcards have nothing to do with military, yet 1907 is a key date in the postcard universe. Just baffling. Not to mention the section that lists comic book characters and Barbra Streisand. Is this really what we're dealing with going forward?

  • @bluesunproductions9079
    @bluesunproductions9079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can tell you that grouping is a massive time saver. You mentioned this in a video awhile back and I started doing it. If I listed random items I might get 6 to 10 items up in an hour. By grouping I would expect to get 20 to 30 items up in hour, with listing photos being the only thing slowing me down. Great advice as always. Thanks

  • @danielsisneros4399
    @danielsisneros4399 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree, create your own lising, using someone else's listing is a recipe for disaster.

  • @mattfarus1
    @mattfarus1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've found that researching then listing takes the same amount of time as researching, staging to alike items then listing into groups. With employees without the knowledge I can see how your way would be fast. For a 1 man show it's about the same time frame. I also want to stress to smaller stock volume sellers to not do it this way with collectibles because prices fluctuate so much that you may be selling yourself short when you get to the items. Never sell anything from a death pile with old research and prices.
