The rule about moving to the next space you must pay rent can be used to create a devilish strategy. It's how I won my last 3-player game. See, I owned all the cyan properties, and all the browns. Player 2 owned the station on that side of the board. I built up houses on the cyans and noticed the players kept rolling Mr Monopolies fairly often, forcing them to come over to my side of the board due to how most of the rest of the board was split between the other two players. I mortgaged the brown properties to prevent them from being forced to move to those, as they're low-rent and unlikely to turn a profit. As a result, whenever player 2 rolled a Mr monopoly on the last side of the board (green-dark blue), he would be forced to move straight to the cyans with houses. I was able to quickly gather enough rent to buy skyscrapers and bankrupt player 2. Player 1 would be forced to go to the station rather than my properties, but the dice odds were still in my favour for regular movement. Never thought I'd see the day when casually buying all the browns off the other players for 100 each would turn out to be such a good strategy.. .xD

The way you win, is that you have to build a church (the equivalent of building a hotel), and you can’t even START to build it until you’ve given another player a property that completes a color group, or sitting out for 3 consecutive turns. 2: Money is hard to get Building a church is tedious because the highest bill in the game is $10, you need $30 to build each part of it. You need a MINIMUM of $135 to win. Also there’s more ways to lose money than there is to gain it, the absolute MAXIMUM rent you can get is $18, also your progress to building the church can be so easily lost because you have to spend $30 to build a single “brick” (house equivalent), and another $45 to build the final piece of the church, you can’t build more than 1 brick per turn, and there’s multiple ways to lose money or just straight up lose bricks (there’s like 3 or more cards that say “lose a brick”). Brinks also don’t increase the rent you get like “houses” would. 3: The cards are too punishing The railroads spaces are called “abyss”, upon landing on those spaces makes you draw an “abyss” card (which takes the place of the “community chest”). %90 of these “abyss” cards punish you (which I guess makes sense, given the name. Knowing this, you’d think the “faith” cards (“chance” equivalent) would be mostly good right? WRONG! Most of these cards ALSO punish you, or give you such meager earnings (the most you can get is $30, and there’s only 1 card that gives that) that you active just don’t want to draw cards the whole game. 4: The game is a slog (TLDR) Since you can’t lose by going bankrupt, you have very few ways to get money, but you need a ton of it, AND there’s too many ways to lose the progress you’ve built, the game just takes for ever. The game really has no redeeming qualities. 5: Bonus (personal experience) In one game, I was $10 away from winning, but due to paying $18 rent, the game took another 30 minutes to end, one of my brothers tried to spend money early in the game and was never able to financially recover, meanwhile the other brother kept scraping enough money to build bricks, and then subsequently lost those bricks (he lost over $150 worth of progress) Seriously, even as an obscure game, just avoid this one.
One version has the Bus die that allows the player move either both white dice sum or one of the dice. Example: 4+3=7 - the player can go either 3, 4 or 7 spaces. I can’t remember what is this feature from
A variant of this game that I came up with: Roll all 3 dice to determine turn order as well as how far you move. If dots appear on all 3 dice, then add the white dice together and then add on the sum of the white dice times the speed die. For example, you roll 5 and 5 on the white dice and 3 on the speed die, which results in (5+5)+(5+5)*3=40 Refer to all 3 dice when determining doubles. While in Jail, roll all 3 dice. The Mr. Monopoly and Bus faces do nothing. Rolling triples allows you to move 2 turns in a row. Rolling 2 doubles with a 1 turn gap in between does not send you to jail. Rolling 3 triples without each being spaced by gaps of at least 2 turns gets you in jail. You go to jail if you roll any series of doubles or triples without proper spacing in-between each double or triple. Doubles require a spacing of 1 turn, while triples require a spacing of 2 turns. For example, say you roll triples, then neither, then doubles, then triples. That would get you sent to jail. Bus tickets go to the bottom of the Bus Ticket deck when used and when expired.
My variation: You have 3 choices if you roll the Bus symbol on the dice. You can either move according to only 1 white dice of your choice, move according to both white dice, or take a Bus Ticket. If you choose to take a bus ticket though, you can't move this turn. (You can gain an extra turn if you roll doubles with the bus symbol as long as it's not the 3rd time in a row you rolled Doubles.) You can only build a Train Depot if you have at least 3 Railroads. You can build one train depot per railroad you own. The rent will be multiplied as follows: 1 Train Depot: ALL Railroad Rent is Doubled. 2 Train Depots: All Railroad Rent is 4X. 3 Train Depots: All Railroad Rent is 6X. 4 Train Depots: ALL RAILROAD RENT IS 8X. (OP, isn't it?) Bus tickets go to the bottom of the Bus Ticket deck when used and when expired.
Triple S Games, you forgot to mention that there is a Chance card that tells one to advance to the nearest railroad. If that player ends up landing on an opponent’s station with a train depot, the player has to pay *QUADRUPLE* the rent to the opponent. I think that is the Chance card, right?
@@YellowToad You don’t even need to put train depots in all of them. So long as the nearest station has one, and you own all stations, that’s $800 in the tubes.
Imagine there are 11 railroads in game (refer Insane Monopoly Pyramid Scheme, without modification), and highest rent can up to $204,800 😂😭 (Monopoly Tower, Chance Card, and Train Depot)
Question: When you land on the auction or move to the highest rent space, does it mean the highest rent in general, including your own property or the highest rent YOU would have to pay your OPPONENT?
Normal monopoly rules apply unless stated otherwise There is only one space beyond the go space. If you go beyond that space you move back onto go and collect 200. You either pay $200 upfront, or you can choose the 10% option to count the valuation of all of ur assets and then pay that amount. Note that you have to choose the 10% income BEFORE counting the valuation.
So... if you roll doubles on the white dice, and a number is showing on the speed die, i.e. 5.5.3, would you move 13 spaces and then roll again, or just 10?

In principle, I like this edition as it adds more complexity and has been proven by simulations and official research to add more strategic freedom which is a good thing. It boggles my mind though at how the rules manage to skip some very important details. I haven't been able to get these things clarified: 1. "You may not mortgage any property of a group until all houses on it are sold back to the bank." Sounds good, there is just that little question as to what "it" is referring to in this case: to the property or to the group. Hilarious!! So, do I need to sell ALL houses of the entire group if I want to mortgage a property from this group or do I only need to sell all houses on the property (meaning that other properties of the group may retain 1 house)? 1.1 If all houses of the entire group need to be sold then it MUST mean that a mortgage on a property is a major hindrance to the entire group and thus I shouldn't be able to collect either the double rent if I own all but 1 properties, nor should I be able to collect triple rent on the rest of the properties without the mortgage. 1.2 If all houses of the property are need to be sold in order for it to be mortgaged then it means that a mortgage does not "ruin" the group and I probably should be able to at least collect the double rent for the rest of the properties (not sure about triple rent, since 1 property is mortgaged). Note that if you need to sell all houses of the group in order to mortgage a property while collecting double or triple rent seems to be a logical contradiction. So, how should we play it?
For (1), the "it" is following direct mention of a colour group. This is simply because of how the rules for building houses works - you need to own all 3 (or, in Mega's case, 4) properties of a group (or 2/3 if it's a smaller one) to build houses or hotels on them. For (1.1), rent is still doubled/tripled on unimproved properties, even if one or more of them is mortgaged. What matters is you own them all, not their current status.
It's not in the rules as such, but I think that you could try. It would take a longer time to get all properties owned, though, and that is one of the reasons the speed die has been included.
0:16 $1000 bill 0:27 3 dice?! 0:41 Roll mr Monopoly or Bus? 0:55 Mortgaged Properties. 1:17 Community Chest or Chance? 1:31 Roll dice In Jail! 2:06 Skyscraper 2:32 Mortgaged Final Property 2:52 Breaking Down Hotels 2:59 Selling A Skyscraper 3:14 Train Depot 3:27 Bus Ticket 3:38 Corners 3:45 Expire All Bus Tickets😢😢 3:50 Bye Bye Bus Tickets 4:05 Auction Space 4:20 Birthday Gift Space 4:28 Bus Ticket Space 4:42 Outro 1:30 BEST WAY TO GET OUT OF JAIL. 2:23 4 PORPERTIES 2:58 I DONT WANT TO SELL A SKYSCRAPER. 3:30 HELP 3:40 the bank tray is emty
at least in this monopoly you can actually pick where you go sometimes, in the original monopoly you can only pick if you want to get out of jail or not, or you can cheat and pick your dice roll/skip your turn
In my opinion, yes, because the speed die causes players to land on unowned properties more frequently. Once all properties are owned, there is the same problem as in the original game, though. However, you can play with a trick that I would consider to be pretty dirty if you manage to get the most expensive monopoly (dark blue) and build skyscrapers on it. It involves the auction space, Mr. Monopoly on the speed die and mortgages of all your properties except the dark blue monopoly. Once you built skyscrapers on all dark blue properties, mortgage all your other properties. When all properties are owned and someone lands on the auction space, they will always be sent to the dark blue property with the highest rent if it's not your turn to move. Well, your other properties wouldn't affect other players being sent to the dark blue monopoly to pay the highest rent if those other properties are not mortgaged, but mortgaged properties are ignored if Mr. Monopoly is rolled on the speed die. You're very lucky if you're in a situation like in this scenario, but it basically means your win is almost certain, and completely certain if no one else has a monopoly.
this is one of the better "advanced" versions of Monopoly, it's a lot of fun to play if you're willing to deal with the randomness of it. I do think U-Build is still the best advanced version of Monopoly they have made in recent years.
ONG. that move to the property where u must pay highest rent card is crazy. my dsughter landed on it and had to move to boardwalk with a skyscrapper. $3000. it happened twice
I think you can collect £200. Any time in the game you are asked to move to a square, it is in the forward direction. So, if you pass over GO with your move , collect. I don't think there has ever been a provision in the monopoly rules for an "as the crow flies" move. You only go back when specifically told to, or told NOT to collect 200.
@@heywoodm2000 the closest example I can think of moving directly is when you're told to go to jail, and in that example you ignore Go. Thats why I assumed this also would ignore Go
I own this game, but never played it. It looks like it will take forever with so many more properties. I don't think I like the bus ticket component. I would prefer it if they released a variant of the original game that fixes some of the issues in the regular game causing the orange and red properties to be overvalued. This is due to the fact that players go to jail to often in the normal game because there is a "Go to Jail" square on the board. In terms of game design, that is one of the worst components of the game because it makes the green, blue, and brown properties not as good as the properties after jail. It overvalues orange and red because players are going to jail too often.
It doesn't take forever. The speed die takes care of that. The increased number of properties and only needing a majority of a colour to start building means that fewer deals between players are necessary than in the standard game. Basically, get a colour set (3/4 or 2/3) and try to get to 3 houses asp. But if you go for this early, other players can catch you up by buying properties with low bids. The "man" on the speed die ensures unbought properties are picked off cheaply. I think Mega is the only version that is as good as the original, or the basic speed die version.
IMHO you have to break down to the number of houses that are available. It is the name of the game - some other player must be "monopolising" the houses! There are 32 in the game and in the Mega edition it is easy for them to run low if there are 3 or 4 players.
@@heywoodm2000 I'm not sure what you mean, so let's say you have three properties of a color group, each with a hotel, and you obtain the fourth with no improvements. There are no available houses. The rules say you must redistribute improvements evenly across the color group, and break hotels down into five houses each as necessary. How can you redistribute your effectively 15 houses when there are no more available house tokens? What happens to those improvements?
@@Twentydragon I think it is tough luck in this situation, the housing shortage rule is pretty harsh, but fairly clear. When I have 3 props in Mega which are going well with houses or hotels, I avoid getting the 4th (or 3rd) in the set so as to avoid breakdown or cost of more houses under this rule. The people I play a lot with accept a house rule that if you get the 4th one by bankrupting someone then you can build up on that one in due course rather than immediately. As the aim of the game is to bankrupt opponents, then there shouldn't be a penalty for doing so (we think). In reality, getting all four is only an aim if you need the skyscrapers, mainly to make the cheaper properties a real threat to opponents. Also, not jumping up to hotels and keeping 4 houses is a well known monopoly tactic which will avoid your scenario, and cause others this headache!
You think this and LGE edition are bad, wait til you look up ultimate or insane monopoly. Multiple rings of boards, and more properties than you’d be able to count.
You should have a talking place it to the board and get the transport chance car 🚨🙏 if monopoly go to jail then you could have it to roll the dice and tomato and roll double

Roll all 3 dice to determine turn order as well as how far you move.

For example, you roll 5 and 5 on the white dice and 3 on the speed die, which results in (5+5)+(5+5)*3=40
Refer to all 3 dice when determining doubles.

If you choose to take a bus ticket though, you can't move this turn. (You can gain an extra turn if you roll doubles with the bus symbol as long as it's not the 3rd time in a row you rolled Doubles.)
You can only build a Train Depot if you have at least 3 Railroads. You can build one train depot per railroad you own. The rent will be multiplied as follows:
1 Train Depot: ALL Railroad Rent is Doubled.
2 Train Depots: All Railroad Rent is 4X.
3 Train Depots: All Railroad Rent is 6X.
4 Train Depots: ALL RAILROAD RENT IS 8X. (OP, isn't it?)
Bus tickets go to the bottom of the Bus Ticket deck when used and when expired.
@Caleb N. As long as a player doesn't have 3 Railroads, they can't buy a Train Depot in my variant. So this is fine.

For (1.1), rent is still doubled/tripled on unimproved properties, even if one or more of them is mortgaged. What matters is you own them all, not their current status.
Is it possible to play without the speed die? I mean if you can play it by the classic rules?
It's not in the rules as such, but I think that you could try. It would take a longer time to get all properties owned, though, and that is one of the reasons the speed die has been included.
@@williamwilting Thank you! I gave it a go several times since then. And yes, it is the same thing, just slower.

@@widden_ Depends of how much time you are willing to spend on grinding. I like it both ways. I use the die if I don t have a lot of time on my hands.

There are still more monopoly variants, like 'monopoly builder' and the one with the false money
this version of chess uses the same rules as the regular version of chess except for this changes
that happened 6 months ago
It really did
at least in this monopoly you can actually pick where you go sometimes, in the original monopoly you can only pick if you want to get out of jail or not, or you can cheat and pick your dice roll/skip your turn
Where does it say on the pieces of paper of the properties how much you need to pay to own it ?
it says it on the board
Bro can you pls tell what is you income per video?
Imagine you mix this with the longest version plus another layer
1:29 While in prison roll only the 2 white dice
1:35 then you may roll all 3 dice
Monopoly but everything gets a hotel, even hotels
i got this for christmas and i’m addicted to playing it, it’s really run and i find it a lot easier to kill the spirt of my family by winning
Is this version better than the classic one?
I got a question, what if the banker lands on the auction space?
Same as any other player.
I love Monopoly Mega!
this is one of the better "advanced" versions of Monopoly, it's a lot of fun to play if you're willing to deal with the randomness of it. I do think U-Build is still the best advanced version of Monopoly they have made in recent years.
Is train station counts as next unown property ?
Yeah
Monopoly Mega sounds interesting.
ONG. that move to the property where u must pay highest rent card is crazy. my dsughter landed on it and had to move to boardwalk with a skyscrapper. $3000. it happened twice
What if i roll double and Mr monopoly at the same time ? 1:19
4:04 if you have to go to the highest rent, can you pass Go?
………no….?
The board is bigger than the classic monopoly!
2:40 - What do you do if you need to break hotels down but all of the houses are gone, and you can't afford to build a whole new hotel?
VERY COOL AND AWESOME TOO MY FRIEND
Can someone explain what the unimproved Property rule means?
It is when there are no houses hotels or skyscrapers on it.
