I like a crelly polish as long as it applies evenly. It looks more gel-like and is more forgiving for application. I'm not spending 13 dollars on these though.
yeah exactly! it was the uneveness in half of the shades that had me like 🫠 it was a shame starting off strong with the pink & orange and going downhill from there 😩
Argon has been out of stock since the fading issue was discovered. It sadly turns from a beautiful cool toned purple to a very warm toned purple. Starrily customer service was amazing and reached out and even offered me a refund. I don’t think they will restock it until they can figure out why it fades so fast.
ahh that makes sense! I’m glad they’re getting ahead of it by reaching out & offering refunds. I wonder when my bottle will fade, I actually got these in November but imagine they weren’t a freshly made batch of polishes lol
I didn’t love the formula on these at all… I do think that in my head I was comparing them to Cirque’s Vice polishes, the handful of Night Owl neons I have, and Starrily’s cremes. The formula really wasn’t on par with the other Starrilys in my collection, so these were a big disappointment. I don’t hate them, but I would recommend literally any other Starrily over this collection.

I did see they recently made the switch to paddle brushes which is nice! but yeah I still hesitate recommending these unless you want that squishy look. I think I just prefer opaque Cirque neons lol

I purchased this collection last year when it came out. It was my first Starrily purchase and definitely not my last. I just used some of these shades in my current mani. They are so cool!

Straight up crellies with no flakies or glitter are difficult for my brain. Because they’re not creams I want to layer them with something but they’re too opaque for a sandwich. I guess Starrily was trying to avoid that chalky feel that neon creams have but I wish they had made them jellies. I might grab a few if I see them on sale and try to dilute them with a suspension base! Also, they need to switch to a paddle brush-I have small nails and the broomstick isn’t compatible with them. I have replaced all mine with KBS brushes but I don’t like that I have to do that with anything that isn’t a $5 or less drugstore polish. It’s 2024, there’s no excuse for bad brushes, and the same goes for OPI and CG.
exactly!! I think Helium would be the most forgiving if I tried to sandwich with it, but i hate that the formulas are inconsistent within the collection. I do wonder if diluting them would help, especially if you’re trying to lean into a more jelly look! I imagine you might need some thinner too lol and apparently they made an announcement at the beginning of the month that they’re switching to rounded paddle brushes! so that’s good, I imagine that will significantly help. now the only brand left to switch is ILNP, which is so funny to think its taken them this long! 🙈
Starrily has to bite the bullet and switch brushes. I see people starting to avoid them like they used to Cirque because of its super thin brush. I couldn’t see the nail line in the video most of the time, probably because the neon blew it out. Of the yellow greens, which looks most tennis ball green to you? I wrote and edited about tennis for years and want to do tennis ball nail art for this summer’s majors. 🎾🎾🎾
I actually missed the announcement earlier this month that they’re switching brushes!! they sent me these back in Nov but I’m not quite sure if you buy any of them now that they’ll come with the new brushes 🤔 and yeah I definitely think the VNL was more visible off camera since the neon is so bright haha! in certain angles I can kind of make it out still though so they still have a squishy feel to me vs building up the way a creme does. I personally think Cirque’s Electric Daisy is a perfect tennis ball color! Starrily’s Radon lacks that green color imo 🎾
I’ve never been much of a fan of neons, but I think it’s because I don’t like them in cream form. I’m planning on getting some of the Bluebird chrome neons that are releasing on Friday, the green in that collection is so good!

I love some of these 😆 I only bought Radon and Krypton when this came out- I’ve worn both and loved them tbh. I recently wore Krypton to compare it to Kushy- Krypton was 3 coats while Kushy was 2. But they are both super bright and almost indistinguishable. Cirque has the best neon formula, but Starrily’s is not bad in my opinion. The other colors are fun too but some of them were a bit dark for a neon collection. They are hit or miss, but I’m glad I picked up both of those 🤷🏻♀️💗💫 Great comparisons! And great review!! 💕

Thank you for swatching these! I have Helium and Radon, bought last season, and I don't love them but I'll try them over a white base. As for Argon, they may have stopped selling it as it had some formulation issues - they say it's faded to a lighter purple. I know neons and purples (so especially neon purples) are prone to color degradation, but it was interesting to see Starrily put it right on the polish listing. I also wonder how Xenon would compare to Cirque NYFW, since it seems so dark!
Oh hopefully the white base will be a game changer for you! I only did one coat and thought they looked pretty good but you can also try a second for a little more oomph. And ahh yes I somehow missed that on the website about Argon 😅 I actually appreciate them being transparent about it, unlike other brands who won’t mention potentially shorter shelf lives with some finishes. And oo I don’t have NYFW but I can see those being pretty similar!
My Pyro has also faded and its the only neon I have where I'm actually really bummed that it faded, if Cirque brings it back I'll definitely repurchase because I am a clown. These are not my type of neons, I'm really happy with my Cirque neons and their being opaque and not needing a white base.

I won this collection in a giveaway, and I'm glad I did, because I wasn't a fan of these neon polishes to pay full price. Their older brushes do not help with application at all. Starrily announced that they are considering selling packs of their new brushes, so I'll probably replace these as soon as it's possible. I did find that these neon polishes work well in gradients.

8:22 Is it something particular to Cirque neons because I see fading mentioned a lot with them? I know neons fade over time but I have neons from two, three years ago and I haven’t noticed any significant fading.
i’m not quite sure what the benchmark is for fading, but the ones I have from Cirque have faded around the 2 year mark (maybe a year and a half but I didn’t notice it during the winter). I’ve heard great things about Color Club neons lasting several years without any fading so I wonder if Cirque is using a lower quality pigment? I don’t have many neons to compare to 🙈

Def a pass for me bc I have some neons already that I barely wear. But I have to say I prefer the Starrily ones to the Cirque ones. Cirque is 11ml bottles while Starrily is 15ml so you get more on the bottle plus with a white basecoat the bottle will last longer. I think a white base with 2 coats of polish would work best. Now... That blue and purple? Not reading neon to me. Not even vibrant. Maybe they added them to create the rainbow. I dunno. I think I will pick up a few Kbshimmer neons LOL
