- It's so hot we had to buy a pool for them! Phil however thinks it's a giant blue bathtub so tries to do his trademark move and avoid it! When he gets in he rebels and bites it haha!
This video was from las year when we had a heatwave during a stay at home period!

It is amazing Phil loves every pond, lake and muddy hole but resists anything he associates with a dreaded bath. He is such an amazing dog even finding a way to bite his way out of the liner. Know this was last year but hope he is feeling better after his vet visits.
Until I read the description I thought that Manchester was going through an end of March heat wave! Then I saw the little black dog in the pool and I was really confused! Glad I paused it and read the description. 😅 👍🏽

I think Phil doesn't like baths and that swimming pool because he doesn't like the idea of being in water in an enclosed space. With a lake he has freedom to come and go as he pleases, but with a bath and a pool like that, he feels like he's trapped with the walls. 🤔

Yep he was very clearly in distress when not allowed an easy exit.
The artificial part might be a big part, I mean, dogs do have better senses of smell than people, so it must not smell very nice to him at all.

Phil shows his brilliance as usual. He figured out if he ripped that, they would take him out. It's really quite good reasoning by him. Shows how smart they are.

Phil is a tactical genius at escaping baths. Especially when he becomes "invisible" in the bathroom corner.
My cat does the “invisibility trick” when I take her to the vet. She buries her head into the crook of my elbow and stays there. We’ve learnt it’s actually the best way to get most of the examination done because she stays still. We still have to hold her for the mouth inspection though.
And I’m almost fully convinced that she doesn’t like our vet as an individual. (She’s fifteen with thyroid and kidney issues so we have checkups once every 3 months.)
I say that because during the last visit concerning a month abscess, the vet has to go out back a moment to get something and as soon as she’s left the room my cat lifts her head and looks around. But the moment the vet walked back in and my cat saw her, she immediately buried her head back into the crook of my elbow.
As for me I was somewhere between stressed because my cat was unwell and unhappy, and quietly reassured that my cat really does love me and sees me as her protector.

Even though it's too early for a heat wave, this was a nice treat. Phil is the biggest baby for sure. But at least that's the proper way for Teddy to do zoomies... just have there be a straight shot from the front to the back.

Phil will learn to love once he realizes it's not a bath. Plus the benefits of having your own pool is that you can teach Mia how to swim without paying for someone else to teach her.
I would get them a few steps inside and outside so they know they have a way to get out. I think that will make it easier for them to get used to it, knowing they have a way to come and go at their leisure. And it probably makes them more uneasy that they can’t see through the barrier. Have sweet Mia go in there with them! 😄💛

Ha, 30 C. That's child's play, only 86 F. Here in Florida, we're at 99 F (37 C) and 100% humidity for several months in the summer. Teddy looks like he's having fun! Cheers from Florida and enjoy the warmth!
Florida heat is horrible. Here in SoCal, the heat is nasty too, but at least we dont have the horrible humidity

Awww poor Phil, he felt trapped bc the pool walls are too high, there’s no walls when these fluffs get into mini lakes/streams etc. I recommended a kiddie pool be used to bathe them bc I thought it be easier then the bathtub, I still think so but again, the wall of this pool are too high for Phil. Great idea to have a pool for them to cool down in, they’re got a lot of fur and when it’s hot outside it’s extra to them. TYFS♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️🐾🐾🐾🐾

OMG this was hysterical. I think Philly Bear wishes he was Houdini the escape artist. His antics crack me up. My Great Pyrenees was the same way.....try and wet him down in the heat of summer in a pool or with a hose and you had to leash him up to get him to stay in place. Lord help you if he saw you coming cause he would run and hide. Yet walk past a lake, river or beach and he would drag you in with him if you were not fast enough to release his leash. These dense coat breeds you have to be so careful in the summer to ensure they don't overheat. I was with a friend who had a Newfi walking in NYC on a super hot July day and his dog collapsed from the heat. Luckily we were right next to a building with a cement water pond in front of it and by picking the dog up we got it into the water and within 20 min he cooled down enough to walk the rest of the way home. Granted it was my friends first experience with a thick coated breed and we had a little chat about how to keep his dog cool in the summer. His next dogs were a Dane and then a. Grey Ghost.....2 very short haired breeds...lol. Large breeds are naturally more work to maintain in good health. Dense coated breeds the maintenance never ends. Who is the little dog in the pool? Never seen him before. I know it's not Buddy. I thought Milo might jump in too. My Ragdoll would have. BTW Teddy is absolutely stunning. Congrats on the win at the show.
