@@everything-hillman66 I am and enjoy your comments and driving experience. At 78 this is my first Rootes car and my last renovation though that is limited to replacement of suspension items and minor parts. It spent much of its life in storage after death of owner so is very original but not as paint perfect as many. I like it for its originality.

The Rootes group made some very innovative cars back in the day, good build quality.

Just see this. My father had a 65 Super Minx his father imported into NZ from England new. It was white with red interior with the 1600 engine. The floor shift gear lever was straight rather than curved like the NZ ones. It also had only one strip of chrome down the sides. It had the flat back window like this one. Between me and my late father and grandfather we owned 13 Hillman and Humber's ( 10's and 80's). My first car in 1974 was a 61 IIIB Minx and in the late 70's a 70 Hunter. In the later 90's to 2004 I owned a very original unmolested IIIB Humber 80 as a classic. I did not sell that out of choice but did so due to a change in marital status and loss of garage, I didn't want to keep it outside. Great cars and recognised as having a better build quality than it's competitors at the time, in fact it has been said they were "over engineered". . Now subscribed.

Hi, thankyou for your historical account of owning Hillmans and Humbers. Interesting to hear about the imported version from new to NZ from England. I agree they are really well engineered cars and great to drive. Thanks' for subscribing, very much appreciated.

Yes family friends had a Super Minx estate in white with red upholstery (1966) believe it was a 1725, agree with the gear lever being straight . Decent comfortable car.

Nice MK4, my MK4 wagon is going similar to this flows and a 32/36 Weber, I'll nolothane the front end at some stage all the bushings can be got in Palmerston north, I notice this car has unboosted discs boosted work much better, Estates like mine were final finished at Todd motors but came in built up, Theres an estate this colour in Dannevirke. You need to get together with some Hawkes Bay owners there are two estates floating about

Thanks for the comment. I like the thought of changing to a weber at some stage in the future. Interesting fact on the estates being finished off at Todd motors. Yeah will have to look at meeting some other owners at some point. Thanks for watching..
