Louis, I want you to know you created another Metropolitan fan ❤️ I finally watched it and truly enjoyed it (Not related to this video but I didn’t want to wait until Jan. 8)
I'm a fan of mixing things up, so I think it would be fun to see Louis highlight his favorite Oscar wins from a successful behind the scenes talent. Like which Edith Head costume Oscar win deserves a shout out? I think long time Oscar losers are a often discussed topic for a reason. Which long time nominee should really have won already? What nomination should they have one for? Of course Louis should go where his muse takes him as I'm sure it will be delightful
Hey Louis, I just fell into one of your clips a few days ago while searching for something, anything, from Lovett, and I'm hooked. Yes dear, you are doing a fabulous job, wish you could go on and on and on. Just one quibble: I agree that Nick Cage isn't who I want to see much, but I think your mindset about Leaving Las Vegas might possibly do with some tweaking. I loved it because it conveyed to me how the character was utterly broken in the eyes of any onlooker, but deep down inside himself he was somehow totally accepting of his lot, and thereby, in a weird way, he was all right. The insight that nobody is truly who he/she seems to be from the outside, and you can somehow be fine even when your body and mind are broken, is so true, universal, and rare, and your take on everything movie is so subtle, that I urge to you give it another chance. Except for that, everything you say is gold. Please don't stop.
I'd love to hear you talk about '70s disaster movies, about costume design oscar winners, about best/worst child acting performances in movies, and the story of Ennio Morricone and spaghetti westerns. I could go on but any or all of those would be great fun. Oh, and about The Big Heat, one of my all-time favorites. Gloria Graham and Lee Marvin are both amazing to watch in that one!
Shocked at your number one pick! Amazing set up and punchline when you said "I'm sure you all guessed this already". Ray Liotta being brought up makes me sad because I think SOMETHING happened between him and Scorsese that damaged his career. It is INSANE he wasn't nominated for Goodfellas, it's crazy that he never collaberated with Scorsese again, it's sad that his career didn't really take off the way it was supposed to after Goodfellas. I have a conspiracy theory about how something must have happened behind the scenes to derail him.
Check out Kathy Bates in one of the most UNDERRATED films in Straight Time 1978 That very small performance as Gary Busey's wife ,speaking to Dustin Hoffman, sets the tone for her future performances
Also, I love Holly Hunter in The Piano, but I loved her even more in Broadcast News which, despite Cher winning for a very good performance, I thought she should've won the Oscar for.
I think Best Screenplay winners or nominees from the 80s or 90s or 00s would be fun because a lot of them don't come from Best Picture nominees so we'd get some dofferent movies to talk about.
Kathy Bates is one of the great Oscar wins of the last half century, but I seem to remember most picking Anjelica Huston for The Grifters to win and Bates being a dark horse at best (maybe I'm remembering wrong).
Do a supporting actress Emmy comedy list b/c the injustices against Jane Krakowski need a DOJ investigation. 30 Rock, Kimmy Schmidt, season 2 of Schmigadoon, and NEVER A WIN??? Criminal.
Big Coen Brothers fan but I never got the hype for Fargo. it's a decent watch but nothing Oscar worthy about it for me. Feeling Minnesota which was a dark comedy/crime drama with the same vibe also came out in 1996 and I think that is a superior movie. Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects met have given the best performance of the decade. It was also great to see Robin Williams win for Good Will Hunting.
The most magical thing about fargo is that she starts the movie pregnant and ends the movie pregnant. Shes pregnant and it's not a huge plot point. She just is and its wonderful.
Ioved that as well And that final speech with the "And it's a Beautiful Day" " I just don't understand" Doubting humanity and it ends with her husband in bed and her love for life is restored She is one of filmdon's greatest characters
I just love listening to Louis talk about anything. He is so smart and quick and I appreciate his passion so much.
Hillary Swank gives the best performance of the 1990s in Boys Don't Cry. Geoffrey Rush in Shine was also fantastic.

"For a cannibal/he's downright quotable" warrants Louis sitting at the Algonquin Round Table, with a jealous Dorothy Parker throwing him a "bitch."
So glad that I had this to watch on my first day back at work, after the Holiday.

As a fellow 6’7” Ent I adore Laura Dern… and yes Citizen Ruth is far better!
Excellent list! The '90s were all over the place, so I bet this must have been hard to rank.
HAPPY (almost) NEW YEAR! Love Love Love Kathy Bates! She is PERFECTION as an actress.

I LOVED Marvin's Room
I still tear up during the scene where the sisters talk about her having a true love
Kathy Bates speech in Primary Colors is the only reason why I VOTE!
I want more of these! 2000s or 2010s least favorite wins among best actor/actress.
Louis please make a video of your top 10 lines of metropolitan
"Lorraine Bracco, who can't stop screaming." Gurl, I am CRYING. 😭

Also, Juliette Binoche for "The English Patient" was so deserved.
Also, I love Holly Hunter in The Piano, but I loved her even more in Broadcast News which, despite Cher winning for a very good performance, I thought she should've won the Oscar for.
Kathy Bates winning an Oscar the same year she was in Dick Tracy and had no lines. 😄
I was expecting Angelina Jolie to get in there for ‘Girl, Interrupted’. That was one of the best races for Best Supporting Actress.

Never take that mic away!

I think you’re wrong about The Fisher King, but I think the right person won that year for sure.

I love these videos! You really know your stuff!
I love these lists, but I must respectfully disagree on one point: Howard's End is a much better movie than Remains of the Day. Don't hate me!
No, it's not. Expressing disagreement with your claim doesn't equate hatred. Man up and take it.
They both put me to sleep.
@@EddieHenderson92 I imagine your two brain cells got overwhelmed, did they?
Michelle Pfeiffer was the original choice for Clarice

She is one of filmdon's greatest characters
Kathy Bates is magnificent
She was but I would have voted for Angelica Huston in the Grifters

cushman....medaya RISE.....2 PAIN YOUR MOM....DENNIs......casaya me HOLLAND SON....
I never saw the movie The Grifters but I have found that the letter “G” in the GOP has come to mean Grifters!!!
I will not stand for the Mikkelsen slander!
What do you give to the woman who has everything? Insulin.
Ron Silver is also grossly underrated in Blue Steel.
Emily Watson deserved it!!!! She was robbed!!!
