I put one on my 17 Beta 300. Zero adjustments so far and it works amazing. The stock Kevin was really good but the lectron improves the low end snap and torque. What the Beta did well, the lectron just made it even better
Great video, very simple and to the point. Bike was missing on the top end , I tried going 1/4 turn leaner on the power jet/main circuit first but it didn’t work. Ended up going 3/4 of a turn richer than original setting and the bike absolutely ripped. Thanks for this video!
You know what. I was just thinking about these carbs. How does one adjust the carb for charges in premix ratios. Let's say that I usually run 40:1 and wanted to go to 32:1. The bike will be getting less fuel and running much hotter. How does the lectron deal with that.
Why does nobody make videos to actually show the sound of a dirtbike it's running lean or running Rich. Searching all over TH-cam and I see some rich running bikes but nothing with the lien riding bikes.
Are there diffirent size rods for each model bike? I bought a use husky wr300 2013 with an lectron, and its difficult to tune, someone said i kight have the wrong rod? Mentioned a red rod or something? I cant find this
I know this video is old but maybe you can help . I have a 2022 yz250x with 22 hours . I put a lectron on my bike and it runs great and the spark plug is brown with a little oil on the threads . My only issue is spooge running down my tailpipe . I’m nervous about running to lean so I figured I would ask first . So would I need to make it less fuel ? It hasn’t fouled a plug or died and starts first kick . I just rode last weekend at 717 and put 8 hours on the bike and only issue is the spooge .
Mine was running fine for two years and all of a sudden the throttle hangs after I hit high rpm’s. Then it takes a day to get back to normal idle after I let off. I noticed the metering rod looks a little "grinded" at the bottom but not sure if that’s how it came. Is a hanging throttle too rich?
Hanging throttle is too lean on the metering rod but can also happen when the slide is worn and needs replaced. I would replace the slide first and tune from there if needed. slavensracing.com/shop/billetron-carburetor-parts-and-accessories-by-lectron/
@@gnarasaurus7178 I think I was running too lean. Adjusted the metering rod and it helped but still not perfect. I have since got a newer bike with the stock carburetor and haven't riden my 99 yz250 with the Lectron in a while. But try richening up the metering rod a bit.
my Ktm runs great but at the track I noticed it sputters a little bit at high rpm 3rd gear, would I need to richen up the metering rod or the power jet screw.
hey Jeff Slavens do you have a recommendation for how to make the throttle pull easier with a Lectron? I installed one on my 2019 KTM 150SX (w/ 4hrs on it), used the lightest spring, and cable is routed properly (on right side). Pull seems way harder than OEM and it matters to me as I'm riding / racing 2-3hrs. I'm going to start with routing cable down left side but do you have any other tips?
Question for any 150sx guys . Boggy bottom . Takes awhile to clear to mid throttle then rips . I hadn't changed the metering rod as it was good enough for my son to ride for a few hours . But going in (I'm guessing leaning ) on the power jet made it a hair better . This is a rich metering rod correct ?
My 2018 300 XCW 6 Days has a lot of pipe bang on decel with Lectron installed. Is pipe bang a lean condition? Adjust metering rod or power jet? I bought my Lectron from your shop. Thanks in advance or any ideas you might share.
Ive installed the h series on my 1997 yz 250 with 5.8 hrs on complete rebuild i have a problem from cold start takes a lot to start but once started runs absolutely fantastic starts first kick. Any idea whats causing the cold start problem?
What metering rods have you guys tried? I’ve had the original 2-3xl, the 2-4m that comes with the mule upgrade, now I’m trying the 5-1, on Kevin’s recommendation. I’m still trying to perfect the 1/8 throttle response. Maybe I’m just too picky. Other mods: S3 head, airbox mod, moto tass reeds.
Hi mate, I have a KTM 250 exc with a lectron. When I take out my air filter there has been a puddle of premix/fuel inside the air boot. The bike is starting to bog a little bit since this. I have not yet tuned the lectron as it had run great until this fuel puddle problem started. If you have any advice as to what this issue may be I would really appreciate it.
Hey Jeff, Ive been running this carb (purchased through yall) for over a year, bike has loads more off idle torque and just runs great overall.. Only problem ive had with it is keeping the throttle tube assembly squeaky clean, it is very sensitive to getting dirty and will get a "sticky" feel, I have too physically roll the throttle back to make sure it goes back to an idle position. Have you heard of anyone else having this issue? Ive tried vortex and domino throttle assemblies. I dont have this problem on my 4 stroke with the stock throttle assembly..
Yeah I had that problem too. Before tightening the top plate with the 3 screws, try sliding the plate sideways, forward and backwards, with screws on but not tight..all while moving the throttle. There is a position where the slides moves smoothly. Once you find that spot, then you tighten the screws all the way and hopefully kept the slide smooth. Ideally the plate would have some kind of guides... I ended up polishing the slide. Also Had to clean it a few times, it does let a bit of fine dirt in. I am building a rubber cover/ boot kinda old style hondas. Call Lectron directly if any issues. They are very helpful.
Mr. Slavens I just put my carb on and I have 2 rides on it I've had to richen metering rod 1/2 2 separate times to get it to start cold. My main problem is a clacking sound with consistant throttle ... hopefully that half turn richer I did fixes it but if not what do you recommend .. clacking is only certain throttle position
Make sure the slide is fully closed. Open the throttle then let it close and it should have a clunk. Make sure the choke stays up and keep the throttle closed when starting. If those things don’t work, call us and ask for Alec. 719-475-2624
@@slaverace1 finally got bike to start but only with choke on and throttle wide open, still too lean? Only ran it a little on the stand but plug looks rich
My main complaint with that carb is the shitty choke system that will not stay pulled up and is hard to reach on the 17 KTM,s. Should be a better system for a $500 carb. Other than that it's great. Lots more bottom end and better fuel economy. HV mule on a 17 300.
Agreed that it is difficult to get to. They recently sent me a prototype remote choke that I'll make a video on when I find time to install it. When the choke won't stay up it's because the grease got washed out of the little rubber boot and wore off the detent lip. Give us a call and I'll send you one at no charge. When installing the new one, pack it with a waterproof grease.
How the hell are you gonna cover a “how to tune a Lectron” and not even show how you’re tuning it. Hook it up to a bike and show the conditions you’re talking about.

Try leaning the metering rod 1/4 to 1/2 turn (counter-clockwise).

yeah, their called Lectron.
Do you have a Domino or Motion Pro throttle?
Jeff Slavens I have Domino and I noticed a slightly harder pull. Nothing serious but slightly harder.
Any tips for cold starts very tough to start cold but once it’s warm it starts 1st kick all day
Hard starting indicates it is lean on the metering rod. Richen it 1/2 turn.
Jeff Slavens I am in texas and it doesn’t really get cold here
@@speezy1414 You asked about cold starts, wtf?
Your Face ....piston rings were worn, rod wrist pin bearing blew up not long after. I think it was hard to start due to those motor issues

Bogging on the bottom indicates it is lean on the metering rod. The power jet is only for high RPMs.
how often would you say these need to be tuned out of the box?
half the time? most of the time, seldom? or something in between?
10% of the time.
