It’s almost criminal the Alex Lifeson doesn’t get the proper respect that he rightly earned. He is always top 5 in my book because he did it all. Cheer from Texas.
I don't think you realize just how awesome they are until you go a while without listening to them. The most incredible body of work by any band. And all of it just bangin.
FINALLY. Well Rory always been a fan and you finally did my favorite Rush clip/video of all time. Seen em 43 times. First show was this tour. 2nd leg of the Moving Pictures tour. I miss them so much too.
Absolutely the best. You nailed it Rory. They never short changed their following. Even when their sound changed over the decades they always gave their best.
You would enjoy their 2112 live performance (1997). Stickhits has a good remastered version. Alex shines and has a couple of remarkable acoustic solos. Also their Intro to Spirit of Radio from their R30 Tour. A superb medley to start the concert and lead into Spirit of Radio.
I know you are enjoying the music when you get thst little grin and then start giggling. LOL Best band ever. ...I agree. The energy was fantastic and Alex was having a whale of a time! Great stuff! . One of my favourite Rush songs is Secret Touch from the Snakes and Arrows tour. I would love to see you react to that one.
I've been waiting for you to react to this medley for so long! So happy! When you have a chance you should react to the entire Exit...Stage Left video and the Power Windows album!
Hard pressed to think of a better performance for me. Geddy's bass lines during By-tor and Grand Finale were awesome plus the fact they were so tight and stoll having fun goofing around during it...I think you nailed it. I know I haven't seen any other band match all the elements.
I've been asking for this for a while. I saw this live (albeit at a different concert) and it's an everlasting, joyous memory! BTW, the title misses off 2112 Grand Finale.
Perfection! I saw them on this album tour and Alex was wearing that red jacket. I was in the 11th grade in 1981 and I still have my ticket stub. I paid $9.50 for general admission and the concert t-shirts were $15 and up. (These prices were not that cheap for me considering I was only making minimum wage $3.35/hr working at Wendy's part time in high school) Price comparison between 1981 and 2024 would make the tickets about $35-$36 each. At the time the concert ticket wasn't a big deal it was the party supplies :) that went along with the concert that had to be afforded :) as well as gas for the 50 mile trip to the auditorium. By the way, quality smoke at the time was going for $15-$20 a quarter bag. I believe Rush was in their prime during this era as they were in their late 20s-very early 30s. Worth every penny...other than Pink Floyd, it is, by far the best concert I attended.
To be honest, and I love all music, (well, not country), and most of the classic bands, but these guys just stand out if you include everything. Longevity, live play, evolution, chops, lyrics etc...tough to top.
In addition to this video, I've also been keen for you to see this fairly recent Alex Lifeson interview. Not only interesting guitar stuff, but also shows his humility. I appreciate it's a tad long, but Rush fans won't care. th-cam.com/video/zEJuuKELzko/w-d-xo.htmlsi=94IhzykoOwb7pkKq
"Best band ever!" You are correct sir!!
Great to see you again reacting to RUSH. They are the best. I agree with everything you said
You made me cry again - full of pride and joy that you get it.

🤯 still after over 40 years of listening to them. They were killing it!
Great job Rory, glad you did this one!

They are so tight on By-Tor.

Life changing to have been there….
Best band...ever, period.
"RUSH makes every other band look Lazy" And Making other bands say WTF!!😯since 1974.
Was that a Rory Gallagher influence on Alex 😊

Humility, class, grace, gratitude...all three of them are/were inundated with it.
