I really like this tool; in many situations it works really well.
But it seems to have a huge "memory leak" problem: if you start the PC and work with CAF on a clip, it goes fast and use a reasonable amount of CPU and RAM, but if you then do another one, it gets much slower and uses much ore RAM, eventually it gets to the point of taking several hours for ten second of footage, using 100% of RAM and memory from disk. Then it runs out of memory and freezes

This is how I am when I watch ANY After Effects Video. She said "Cut out any areas you wish to remove".... then me thinking "Ok.. how do I cut out something... searches for another after effects video"
just make a mask around it with the pen tool

@Larry B Well, you gotta understand, you can't explain EVERYTHING from beginning to end in every single tutorial. There's a baseline understanding you need to have if you're watching intermediate tutorials.
If you haven't taken an After Effects basics course, this kind of tutorial is useless to you anyway.
Introducing this much loved Photoshop tool in to After Effects is a good start. No doubt the Content Aware Fill for AE will need to go through a number of version iterations before becoming a robust, professionally reliable tool.
All this reminds me, isn’t it time that Adobe expanded their paint tool set for AE? Will we ever see the day when PS stalwarts such as as the Healing Brush, and Blur Brush tool are included in AE? Being able to track areas to paint, clone stamp or “heal” in AE would make this sometimes flakey app genuinely unique.

may I know the difference between the fill method: object, surface and edge blend?
I used this on a cat sitting on a table in front of a green screen. It mirrored the cat like a reflection.. So much for that.

it does a great job when it works, but mine keeps crashing. i've got 6 masks, but when i just did one it worked. i guess i'll be working around the bug until they get the next update. it's typical when a new feature, or even a new update first rolls out, there are bugs. so no surprise there.

I'm having a nightmare where it won't create any key frames! It just started doing this in the last week and I have no idea how to fix it.
If it's possible to delete any object image, why if i want delete the background to make a chroma it's not possible?

As a constant user of the Mocha Remove module, this is... not even close to comparable. In it's current state it might be good for some quick fixes, but you don't have nearly the level of finessing ability like you do with Mocha Pro. But hopefully it's something they continue to update!
@@zachprichard Exactly my thoughts. Installed the update and used to some light removals on HD footage (Laptop logo) but went glitchy with errors then and now i'm thinking in downgrade.
How can i remove objects in different times
We get this, which will only work for the most basic and ideal situations, when we should be getting Multi-core support. ..something EVERYONE uses every minute of the day.
Sadly it's not ready for prime time. Mine goes through the process but only fills 10 frames. Bummer.
Is it supposed to be incredibly slow? I've tried multiple times and its wasted half my day and stops analyzing at 100% after waiting an hour. I am on a Mac Pro w/64GB RAM

More parallax and 4k footage instead of 720p resolution, then I might be interested....other than that though, you can get the same thing by unpremulting a bunch of times?
And occlusion....anything. I could do a better result in less time than it takes this crap to calculate in Nuke/photoshop.
I guess that Adobe selected the best footage to show off this new feature, and yet it's still quite bad - those objects in the background under the trees are clearly visible as blurry, dark spots after removal.
Do it better then mate.
You can paint individual frames to guide the result which should improve...

Fix your: "After Effects Warning: Content-Aware Fill Error: Initialization Failed" message which is not informative at all. I followed step by step to make it work. It doesn't.
Hey, I guess you haven't set your mask blending mode to "substract".
It doesn't work. Just generates an error message every time: Could not fill because there are not enough opaque source pixels.
You need to put the mask in "substract" mode

Been using (Or trying to) this fill tool since 2018.
Currently on AE 2022. There is no indicator of the fill-layer being generated, and in the past when I have got it to apply, it's been absolutely horrible.
This is why nobody uses Adobe products except small-time editors.
Thank fuck I'm onto NukeX these days, perfect functionality in all ways.

@@trevorama What do you mean...paid feature? You pay for mocha you get it. I have it in my license...I don't use it since I use Nuke.
Richard Servello If you want to use the remove feature in Mocha, you have to buy a paid version. The free version of Mocha doesn’t include this feature. So for those who can’t afford to upgrade their version of Mocha, the inclusion of this ability in After Effects is a welcome addition.

I have waited for this feature forever.. But the results in this video are not good at all. Hope you improve this feature fast Adobe. Also, maybe don't hide behind 720p next time.
Use Mocha Pro instead, better result.
To be fair though. Having played around with it, you can get much better results than this video indicates.

indeed, they only play the video once and everyone looses their minds... but a simple 2 loop review and you can see its useless, even tho the flag gives a super good rough approach that would save some time in Nuke for example... but the rest... ugh

RIP this tool is way too slow. Working with anything like 2 or 4k its completely useless. Using a 24 core Mac with 64gb ram, SSD and 2 RX580 cards, 1 frame literally takes about 15 minutes to render. on a 1 min long clip, your talking 2 days to process. What a total joke this tool is. Probably great if your only working in SD or HD, but i've gone back to rotoscoping. Super frustrated so many youtubers and even adobe are promoting this plugin like its some magic bullet if you dont know how to rotoscope. Fix this tool adobe, and stop acting like its the best thing, its total garbage in its current state.
