Bernard Edwards was a groove machine and yet he played so simple lines,mostly in A minor pentathonic

I was gutted, like millions of Chic & Bernard fans, when I head Bernard had passed away with pneumonia while on Tour with Chic in Japan...
I've been lucky as I've had pneumonia twice & managed to live to tell the tale as its no joke & I can only guess his system was so run down that it couldn't fight it...
In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world...

Bernard wanted "grease" in his strings. He didn't want bright. Flats work great for this bassline.

The middle section works best with an open A (long note sustained) then a fretted D on the A string (short punchy note) rather than open D. Gives a push/pull feel to the two halves. Also the octave C C A C A CA notes need to lag a little more behind the beat to groove harder. Good job though!

Love the video. The tabs were really helpful when I was trying to learn this song. Also, I've been looking all over the internet for that Fiesta Red color bass and can't find anything other than the several thousand dollar ones. Do you mind sharing your setup for recording? I have started recording some bass cover videos and I just use an external Rode microphone on my Nikon camera and I don't get great sound quality. I'd really appreciate your help.
for start you need a soundcard (M-Audio, Focusrite,...) and software to recording the bass and playback song
NO need microphone
my setup: bass guitar in sound card UAD Apollo Twin with Pro Tools(DAW)
export audio file wav
import audio in video editor program
and sync audio with video

Yes. It’s obtained by plucking a string while muting it. Just don’t do it over a fret. I’ve done that accidentally while trying to play a dead note, and got a harmonic instead.

This is killing me a bit. Overall it's an accurate cover but the G in the the chorus is supposed to be staccato. It kills the whole groove when you go G - A and the G is legato to the A. It's a short G. You actually do that part right in the verse, but you make it legato in the chorus. It's the little things like that that that make that part extra snappy and groovy.
Yes, the notes are generally correct (haven’t checked all of it, but I assume that part is ok), but some of the groove is lost by the odd note here or there being incorrect rhythmically.
The verse riff where the first G-A occurs is not correct. It may be that the guitar riff is leading him down the wrong path.
