A large group of my close friends and family gained an appreciation for massive attack many years ago. Lived under a roof with my brother and a bunch of our friends. We had a handful of massive attack albums between us and each night one would borrow albums from one another to listen to while sleeping. I can’t express what massive attack has done for us and I know I speak for them when saying so. God speed
Massive Attack is not just a music group it's a society. They take attention to the darkness of this world. If you have seen them live, you know what i mean.
I love MA BUT many great musicians ''take attention to the darkness of the world'', MA did not invent this... Brilliance often goes hand in hand with darkness, at least partially.
I absolutely love the way the lyrics in the beginning sound all off-key and weird with the beeping and chirping instrumentation until that synth string/brass pad comes with a beautifully dark harmony and everything makes sense. THAT'S good songwriting, fellas.
I'm not good in a crowd I've got skills I can't speak of Things I've seen will chase me to the grave I'm not good in a crowd I've got skills I can't speak of over there Things that I've seen will chase me to the grave Led with your hands tied, fed to the sand flies Stumble the dunes, complain to the moon Backs to the wheel, there's granite to shove Take it, they give it, so rivet for rivet I will build for my family a bulletproof roof How does it feel, the weight of the steel The weight of the steel of the flat of the blade How does it feel to kneel at the feet To kneel at the feet of the choices you've made I'm not good in a crowd I've got skills I can't speak of Things I've seen will chase me to the grave Backs to the wheel, there's granite to shove Take it, they give it, and rivet for rivet I will build for my family a bulletproof roof
Had not twigged before how Bowie's Dark Star harked back to this powerful, heart-beat, meditative Massive Attack sound - so close somehow. The tempo, the talking over that heavy bass, the crescendo of high notes towards the end. Wow! !!!
Absolutely love this song and Massive Attack. Honestly so glad that I could see one of their videos within hours of its release and it be one of their best songs (in my opinion). Thank you Massive Attack for your incredible and thought provoking music.
I've had wine I might regret it... The first 5 seconds....there's an underground experiment going on. I'm anxious but I love it already. You know the mojo? It was always you.
I'm not good in a crowd I got skills I can't speak of Things I've seen will chase me To the grave I'm not good in a crowd I got skills I can't speak of Over there Things that I've seen Will chase me to the grave Led with your hands tied Fetters and flies You stumble the dunes Complain to the moon Backs to the wheel There's granite to shove Take it They give it So rivet for rivet I will pilfer my family a bulletproof love How does it feel The weight of the steel? The weight of the steel The flat of the blade How does it feel To kneel at defeat? To kneel at defeat At the choices you make Hey, hey, hey I'm not good in a crowd I got skills I can't speak of Things I've seen will chase me To the grave Backs to the wheel There's granite to shove Take it They give it And rivet for rivet I will build for my family a bulletproof love
This track is shocking at first, an immediate skip. But then you start giving it a chance. You listen to the whole song and identify with it as a whole. It’s poetry. The build is one of the best you will ever listen to. It builds to what feels like a let down. You want more. But that is the theme of Flat of the Blade. You don’t get the payoff. It’s life. You move through its beauty and love, but ultimately its about fighting through monotony, grief and disappointment. Great track, MA.
Yes. I always felt like this song is different from everything I’ve ever had heard before. There’s a mix of melancholy, darkness and haunting feeling coming from it. But at the same time sounds so good that you want to listen to it again and again. Check out “fatalism” track from the deluxe version of this album. Got that haunting feeling too, but even more accentuated

I just saw them live in France, and I just know what you mean, + they are magnetic
I'm not saying Rob's Bansky... but have u ever seen Bansky and Rob in the same room together? Lol
Even if you dont.
It so obvious. 😃
We listen to a society.
I love MA BUT many great musicians ''take attention to the darkness of the world'', MA did not invent this... Brilliance often goes hand in hand with darkness, at least partially.
This song was love at first listening in a period when I was not yet into Massive Attack. This moaning synth is so pleasuring.
We need a new album, like NOW
Nana Ti nah, but seriously, where the fuck is it?
Still waiting...
Yeah man where are they? My favourite band ever ♥️
Yes!

I never thought I'd read a comment like this expressing my favorite part about this masterpiece! Nice to know there are people with ears out there
@@liampitcher Are you kidding? There are THOUSANDS out there loving Massive Attack, do you really think you two are ''special''? Humble yourself!
I heard this song over a decade ago... and I'm just now learning they made a music video.
This song has really grown on me, one of my favorites from the band now.
I'm not good in a crowd
I've got skills I can't speak of
Things I've seen will chase me to the grave
I'm not good in a crowd
I've got skills I can't speak of over there
Things that I've seen will chase me to the grave
Led with your hands tied, fed to the sand flies
Stumble the dunes, complain to the moon
Backs to the wheel, there's granite to shove
Take it, they give it, so rivet for rivet
I will build for my family a bulletproof roof
How does it feel, the weight of the steel
The weight of the steel of the flat of the blade
How does it feel to kneel at the feet
To kneel at the feet of the choices you've made
I'm not good in a crowd
I've got skills I can't speak of
Things I've seen will chase me to the grave
Backs to the wheel, there's granite to shove
Take it, they give it, and rivet for rivet
I will build for my family a bulletproof roof
Wrong lyrics
This song was responsible for me going down the Elbow rabbit-hole. Guy Garvey's voice is very compelling.
Massive Attack is a way of living. It transcended music a long time ago.
Massive Attack is one of my favourite bands of all time, but comments like yours are just pure fucking cringe man.
I got skills I can't speak of! Things I've seen will chase me to the grave!

I'm unnerved by what's just beneath the surface of this video. ⚡
Une des meilleures de l'album !
Just two weeks ago I saw you guys live and it was incredible. Now my hunger for new music increased...
Because feeling "weird", with massive attack as soundtrack, its just an epic moment...peace.
Not everyone can pretend 🖤
Guy Harvey with Massive Attack omg ! Genius..
They haven't changed one bit, their brilliance is still here years later
outcastkatsuki oh shit really, my bad . I haven’t heard all their songs yet
I've had wine I might regret it... The first 5 seconds....there's an underground experiment going on. I'm anxious but I love it already.

I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of
Things I've seen will chase me
To the grave
I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of
Over there
Things that I've seen
Will chase me to the grave
Led with your hands tied
Fetters and flies
You stumble the dunes
Complain to the moon
Backs to the wheel
There's granite to shove
Take it
They give it
So rivet for rivet
I will pilfer my family a bulletproof love
How does it feel
The weight of the steel?
The weight of the steel
The flat of the blade
How does it feel
To kneel at defeat?
To kneel at defeat
At the choices you make
Hey, hey, hey
I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of
Things I've seen will chase me
To the grave
Backs to the wheel
There's granite to shove
Take it
They give it
And rivet for rivet
I will build for my family a bulletproof love

This kinda has a similar vibe to Black Star by Bowie
You're right, very similar
That’s how influential Massive Attack were, even Bowie inspired by them
Thought this for YEARS. Glad I’m not the only one
Kneel at the feet of the choices i have made

Return Massive! Come to Brazil!
Rafael Coletta Why do Brazilians always comment the same thing??
Because we love massive attack
Brilliant!
The intro reminds me of Thom Yorke's Cymbal Rush.
So free. Peace Christo 👽
