@@ImFangzBro I had a rat that made it to 5 IRL. He was the sweetest thing. It really is amazing how old that is for a rat, though! 3 is considered a great run.
@@TheNomad94I can’t believe I just found out Overclock can be stacked right after I finish the game, oh well, maybe for another run I’ll try to make better use of it.
I just challenged myself trying to beat the game without using any skill points and forgot to unequip all my +attack items from verm before the aquila fight, so I had to overclock Siobahn 20 times, shield break and one shot him with a single spreadfire, 255 damage and 0.11 left on the clock. What an amazing game.
I beat this boss JUST as the countdown started. I made the mistake of thinking if I took out the main threat, the sidekicks wouldn't matter and had to scramble to take them out in the last seconds.
I absolutely love the presentation in this battle all together, for those who played it will know damn well the reference to the original source and how the "Metal Gears" Are turning in the clock
@@CaliCosmicGal oh my god I never noticed, I thought he was deadass just floating and rolled with it. The sprite work in this game is absolutely insane.
Spoilers for those who haven't played the game! You really have to give Aquila credit. They know damn well they don't stand a chance of actually killing the party, so they settle for dragging out the fight as long as possible (poison bombs, health potions, robot minions, even simple blocking) for Excalibur to launch. You don't often see bosses do that.
I give them great respect for one fact, Aquilla has been extremely consistent in being very logical, it's pretty ingenious to have that reflected in the fight just like you said, Aquilla gave their life to this for no fanfare or glory. small saga is quite brilliant at times..
I just had Gwen keep his defense down, and when Siobhan had gotten a good enough overclock, I nuked 'im with Hellfire. Did more damage than he had max health. When I killed the ads, I had 40 seconds left. Still, an awesome fight.
Dunno why anyone had issues with him. Verm's strong, but Siobhan outperforms the entire party by a mile with stacking overclock, and Gwen's damage never felt much lower than Verm's (save for a few specific boss fights). Her bleed stuff and Siobhan's fire tear through so much of that game.
Yeas but also verm learns his ultimate move by one of the cissors sisters a tehinque that is prettu powerful that you can stake rage on verm and he can deal a ton, besides most of the fights are bosses and there are also specific bosses that one of your party memebers can fight
@@Yoyopizzacat Yeah, Siobhan one-shots basically everything in the entire game since she can just bypass the action point system. Especially if you use Bruce to keep handing turns to her. Verm is strong (esp against the human enemies) but Gwen and Siobhan are no less busted when you spec Gwen into bleed and just keep charging Siobhan's lighter.
Hands down, one of my favorite tracks in the game. I wish I knew what the voices in the background are because I feel like it's a reference to something, it makes you want to f-cking *go*
Shame this was the only fight where the low difficulty didn't hamstring the presentation. A lot of the other major ones could have been so cool if they hadn't been too easy to take seriously.

@@NikkibuhDon't get me wrong, it sounds cool but on repeat listens, they aren't as hype as parts surrounding it. I just think they didn't need to be as noticeable, maybe spread out the dialogue or don't have the instruments calm down as much.
It would have been a good song even without them, but it wouldn't have been nearly as distinct and especially on a first listen it wouldn't have been as impactful if you were struggling to hear the voice stings over the music. Without that, I think the first experience wouldn't have been as impactful, and I think that's more important than making game music good for listening. And I honestly also disagree about it making for worse listening music, since it's jarring and disjointed by design, and the shifts between voiceover and music accentuate that.

Rodentia: We're getting out of the Anthropocene with this one!
Humans: You're what?

The song is called "The Anthropocene" officially. I bought the deluxe edition on itch and have mp3s of all the songs so that's how I know.
Oh cool, thanks for the heads up! Got the game on Steam and didn't even realize the soundtrack was already available on itch!
Goddamnit, Fatman AND Psycho Mantis? Fused into a RAT? This is so metal, I love it.

I absolutely love when a game gives you soundtrack whiplash, but this one gets even more points for sounding like The Prodigy
The way it transitions into the OG battle theme reminds me of photoshop flowey in undertale and I love it
The way that voice just talks about global warming while the melody plays really reminded me of "living in the light" from The Binding of Isaac
