Never took note of moon,just do big water change befor a storm. I breed for my oun amusement as where I live is fairly isolated, it's had giving away excess fry, thanks for another learning vid.
As to which foods I feed to get them to breed, with the Lucipinnis I will feed frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and/or daphnia. However, you should not need to anything special with well fed, healthy fish. Good luck! Greg Sage

So one sump connected to two tanks (or more if needed) except your sump has fish. (can't waste a tank in the fish room!) Nice system! I love those silly cereal bowls; I have quite a few of them. At what age can you reliably sex them? Are the breeders in the video around 3.5" in size? I like the recap at the end - problem and solution. Great information as usual.
Hey, I know this is old but I wanted to ask, could you possibly just place the crushed coral in a filter? I use external filters for my tanks and was wondering if I could just place some crushed coral in there to get the right water hardness without the substrate?
My water is very hard out of the tap. It runs through limestone, over limestone (and other minerals). It's also ideal for making Tennessee whisky...You solved your problems. If you wanted one selective pair ONLY to breed would you use a smaller catchment basin?

Is there a reason you couldn't put the crushed coral in a fine mesh back on the bottom of the tank? Just thinking that could help buffer the water and not have to push water from the other tank.
greg im trying to breed coris for months now, set up is sand planted tank plenty of caves driftwood 40gal breeder but no luck with eggs yet. any advice?
Yes, but then the breeding tank and the young grow out tank would be of different water qualities, and for the young to hatch and grow out well, you need to ensure that their water quality stays the same as the water quality of the tank where the eggs were laid. The only way to do that is to run a sump where consistent water is being run between them. Greg Sage, selectaquatics.com

Soaking terracotta pots in water for a couple of days makes them much easier to drill safely.
Second this. Also helps to make a pilot hole first with a smaller bit.
