I'm so glad I was able to purchase this exact reel from you. It definitely fills that power BFS gap I had in my arsenal. I'm contemplating sourcing some upgraded bearings for it now, just to make it even better.
I've been a shimano guy for a while now. At first I didn't like the 22 aldebaran bfs but after I finally figured out how to dial it in with those touchy brakes it's becoming the reel I thought it would be. I haven't dipped into the budget bfs reel pool yet but am slowly appreciating more and more the reels that daiwa makes. I won't go into all of it but one thing I like the most about daiwa reels is the allen head screws that secure the gear box. I've stripped those tiny little Phillips head screws trying to get them out to service my shimanos😢
Also a big fan of the Aldebaran, but the Gekkabijin just gets better the more I use it. the Silver Creek is still my fave for trout, although the new CQ BFS is giving it a run too! Don't do a ton of service, but long-term (or for heavy modders) that's a huge deal witht he screws.
I guess my problem with this and all CDM reels right now is $70 is halfway to an slx bfs at current exchange rates. And from my understanding any internal parts I may need to replace would be identical to the us market curado bfs. Parts availability is important to me as I'm not into disposable reels. Re: thumb bar not returning right, in my experience it's sometimes an assembly issue from the factory. On a couple of occasions I've had that intermittent problem which would go away completely after taking the reel apart for cleaning/lubrication and reassembling.
@@AaronHuntFishing speaking of slx bfs, do you have a preference for where to order jdm reels? JLS is a bit cheaper than digitaka right now, but I've never ordered from Japan so I don't know if saving $10 is worth having a minor price difference being my sole deciding factor.

Yep - when you reached out, I felt like it was a perfect fit. Glad it's working out.
Great job on the reel reviews. Really helps when on the fence of a new reel
Glad to help. A few more coming. then maybe some JDM head to head battles in August and into the fall..
Hello. Have you tasted any Seasir bfs reel? Cast x, Repeater, or Mansory?
I have not yet. The mansory is on my radar, but no definite plans yet.

Agreed. A lot of folks like the sub- $80 reels. But the SLX is probably the real value champ right now.

@@timothythompson6549 I've ordered from both JLS and Digitaka a lot. Just ordered from JLS again today. both are great.
