Where would one be able to purchase the sand, the other materials, what does it take not including the mold, the sand, the black powderish looking the white material placed in the melted metal and stirred? Thank you for your sharing this! God Bless!
@@MichaelThomas-iu5gz I think the white powder is bakin Soda? the black granules are 100%graphite. graphite neither expands our contracts when heated.that's why it's used for making moldsbecause of its stability.look up what that powder is to be sure,I'm sure it's some kind of rosin
Nickles and dimes melted with some copper wire. Add some silicon ie sand and you get a good quality bronze. Getting the ratio is the hard part; you want around 12% tin from the coins and like 1-2% silicon and phosphorus, the rest copper. Good for anything that needs an edge: hard enough to not dull easily, soft enough to sharpen, unlikely to break and corrosion resistant. Makes for great knife material. Better than steel IMO cuz it doesn’t need as much babying, but it’s not cut our for heavy work like wood splitting so save it for knives. And arrowheads.
Bronze really needs to be cold worked to bring up the hardness. If I was actually going to use these I would shot peen them or work over the surface with a very small ball peen hammer. The bazaar in Afghanistan was selling real ones. Almost all were 3 blade with a socketed head. I'm guessing so it would come off when the arrow was extracted and stay in the wound
Sockets on arrows need to be glued or they fall off during flight from the arrow swinging in an s shape due to the bow so no not meant to be left in a body thats a myth
Personally I wouldn’t have the heart to use such a beautiful piece for its intended purpose. With what passes as “art” nowadays it’s such a shame that people don’t appreciate things like this arrow for the skill that it takes to produce such beautiful piece.
It was interesting! Can it be made from iron extracted from iron sand? I think the manufacturing process would be different with or without chemicals and carbon.
This guy makes a living casting hard to find car parts for classic car's truck's, but he uses some type of Styrofoam and makes a mold from that and uses some type of soft metal prefer scrap aluminum. so it's easier for finishing work as far as sanding buffing some time's welding any type of cracks pits blimishing,
По правде говоря , для поражения не защищённой цели достаточно и слегка заточенного древка , а вот для пробития доспеха уже нужен специальный наконечник
The finished, polished arrowhead is beautiful. However, your video would have been much more helpful if you had explained what you were melting down (I know the video said it was bronze, but what did the bronze pieces come from?), what you were using as a frame and where could someone obtain one, what material you were using to surround the arrowhead in the mold, and how long it took to harden before you opened the mold. It's one thing to simply show a demonstration, but more is required to teach others. So, please answer these questions before I will give you a "like."
It's deeply satisfying to see a beautiful creative and entertaining youtube short that doesn't just stop RIGHT BEFORE THE END! Seems rarer every month. Thankyou!
Wow that is really awesome!. I've never seen anything like that before and then you melted down brass. I don't even know how you can melt metal let alone make it poor like it did. That was well done! What awesome work!
I would take the easy way out. If I was carving wood arrow head as a mold for a bronze or copper arrow head? I would carve glass, bone or ivory and they are as hard as bronze or copper in my opinion.

I would ask what makes it ancient but I don't care it just looks so cool!
You can buy an alloy of bronze that's called 'ancient bronze', that's my best guess. It's supposed to be good for casting.
The casting method is somewhat ancient. Using a sand mold to cast arrowheads
