I don't know what form of God touched the person who produces these tribute videos, but He imbued them with the ability to choose music, images and feelings that sum up decades to absolute perfection. You should have your own tv show, for Christ's sake. I didn't even care much for the first decade of the 2000s, but this is astounding!!!! The choice of MGMT is inspired, the images (as always) are genius, and the editing....well...it doesn't get any better than this. Life goal: meeting you someday. Anyone reading this who hasn't checked out his other decade tributes, go immediately to the rest of them. Even if you didn't live through the various eras depicted, you will get a strong sense of how they FELT. Kudos, once again, good sir.

Life is best lived by the moments and I appreciate the videos you make capturing the Moments In time. Whether pop culture or music whatever the nostalgia it's about the memory you have of the time in history. The moment becomes immersed in what you were up to at the time in your life. It's brings you back to a feeling a sense of what was happening in your own being and all of these videos capture that essence. These videos are a true time capsule for me and I'm sure many others. I was born in 1988, so I'm a child of the 90's and a teenager of the 2000s. This brings back so many memories. Oh, the nostalgia...So even the 2000s has its own nostalgia. That's amazing because many consider the 90's to be the last great decade. This just proves that people are longing for physical human contact, and the 2000's was the last breath of that before technology completely took over every aspect of our lives. Even celebrity news is not exciting now as it was back then.

I am a 90s baby, yet I say the 80s was the last great decade. Yeah the 90s was good but the highs of the 80s are just too much to surpass. The 2000s is definitely where the decline is.

@@geeebuttersnap2433 The 80s mainstream was pretty terrible. Tasteless fashion and decor. Strongman movies. Stock, Aiken and Waterman music bleh. I think we are ignoring all the bad and focusing on the good like Kate Bush, The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, A Flock of Seagulls, Crowded House. But they were good in a sea of crap. The 90s was largely decent. Especially the mid-late 90s when the Cobain effect kicked in. The 00s were good up until about 07. Musically it fell of a cliff which is understandable. Gen X had musically run their course. Millennials were still deciding what they were going to be and do. I feel we have been in a similar musical lull this last 3 years as Gen Z start to take the reins of taste making.

The truth is that the entire XXI century does not deserve a tribute at all. At least not so far. Beggining with the worst terrorist attack in history, this century brought the rise of all that politically correct crap (with its roots in previous decades to be honest), intense divisions in all Western societies, widespread hatred, the rise of China and its brutal regime, and, to top it all, the worst and most lethal pandemic in a century or so. And I fear that the "best" is yet to come. One must be very naive not to realize that all these events affects deeply culture in general and even people's behavior and creativity . That's why pop music and TV shows are dead, and very few movies and series are worth to be watched. If people want to know why so many miss the 80s and 90s answer is quite clear.

People like us got exposed to that stuff at a way younger age and than the average kid our age and near it, hell I remember being in Grade 4-5-6, meeting 12-13yo kids who weren't even allowed to play GTA or any rated M games yet lol, and especially kids in my grade most of them didn't start playing them till they were maybe 9-10-11. I still always loved 'age appropriate' stuff too, SpongeBob and Looney Tunes and GI Joe in particular, but getting to experience all those old games and movies and shows as a kid was a blessing, especially GTA San Andreas 🙌

I just wanted to take some time to thank the creator for making this video, along with all the others. I know viewers prefer the 80s and the 90s, as we realize now more than ever how cool those decades were, but for me, this video means the most and I come back to it very often. Of course, it's mostly nostalgia, as a millenial the 2000s remind me of my happiest years. The song as well... such a big favourite of mine. But it's not just that... In today's climate, I often find myself yearning for pre-internet times, but then I remember how great it was to grow up with the early internet. I hate what it has become, but when I was young, being online and offline were still separate worlds and they complemented each other beautifully. It was genuinely very exciting, I've found some wonderful friends I still keep in touch with after 20 years, and the internet was such a creative playground with great forums and communities, blogs, chatrooms, online journals, and also, the early youtube with such authentic creators. There was still an innocence about it that is completely gone today. Maybe this is just my experience... Admittedly, I didn't have a smart phone for a really long time, and I spent more time offline than on, and of course, we all miss our youth, whatever was going on in the background. But I love this era immensely, along with its pop culture, the rise of cinematic TV shows, awesome indie bands, great teen movies, and a time when we still didn't know the digital age would swallow us whole. As Bo Burnham sings in Welcome to the Internet, "it wasn't always like this", the internet started out differently... Thank you for the wonderful reminder and sorry for writing so much, but I always get emotional when I come here.

You know, I was born in 2003. Basically. I can recall all of this. Hard to believe this was 20 years ago. Hard to believe I also feel nostalgic about this. I in many ways miss my childhood. I remember listening to the hits on the radio. Even still playing saved songs my Mom purchased from iTunes and having to burn it on CDs. I'd choose to listen to it on my mom's car radio or my stereo I had in my room. I also remember watching of course, kids tv shows like Corey in the House, Suite life of Zack and Cody and a great many others. I did also watch movies like fast and the furious, Pirates of the Caribbean, the list goes on. The years I lived from 2003-2013 in my opinion were the best years that happened in a sequence I guess you could say. I didn't play video games till like 2008 so I am not as familiar with like Halo, CSGO or even Garry's Mod. But, I am more familiar with Call of Duty WAW and it was about 2011 I did play GTA SA and GTA IV. But, I have only my brothers to thank as far as not taking the games seriously.

Now I´m 22 almost 23 and I wish I could live through that time again. It was so innocent and you just didn´t have the "adult" problems. You just did what you liked. Watching so many of these tribute videos, from the 50s all the way to this one, I'm always struck by how with rare exceptions almost everyone believes they were a child/teenager during the greatest years ever. This is the funny trick that nostalgia plays on all of us...it's beautiful and sad all at once.
Personally the 2000s was by far the worst decade of my life, so it's interesting seeing younger folks talk about it with the same fond reverence with which I think of the 80s & 90s. I think it's kind of fascinating to think that for kids of the 2000s, that decade could actually "feel" the way the 80s (my childhood) "feels" to me. I can't quite get there but a video like this helps me approach being able to see this time period through those eyes a little

The very early 00s truly brought a mix of the 90s with the great things to come but soon after with the reality of the post 911 world settling in you can feel the difference, the darker, less optimistic view of us and the world. Some say it's the realistic aspect becoming more prevalent in the cultural norms we use to distract ourselves since no decade was sunshine and rainbows but there's a build up and by the mid 2000s clearly shows the contrast to Y2K.
It would be great for this generation of kids growing up right now to feel a sense of what life was 20 years ago, at least the grounded positive vibes that clearly don't exist anymore. I feel for them, hopefully they will be stronger than we are.
