I figured out a significant factor in my fear of this game is the soundtrack and audio/sound effects and when I hear them in videos about the subject like this it still hits me 20 years later
I just wish Konami would sell their properties. Allow them access to them to make pachinko machines but that’s all. They are happy, gamers are happy it’s a win win. I’d like to see Capcom remake Silent Hill 1 in the RE Engine. Maybe Konami will see how RE2 did and will remake Silent Hill but yeah that’s a no from them dawg 😔.
Zazzaro703 already said it. The reason RE2 remake is successful it's because it's a passion project, Konani nowadays only cares about money, they would half ass the game without going through the long process that the RE2 remake's developers went through, so they could bring a classic game to modern date without losing its qualities and also adding new ingredients so the game achieves its purpose. Our best bet is to hope Konami will sell the rights of the game for a company that actually cares about it. Remember that Konami managed to screw an HD remaster of the series already!
i think its good as it is, a pristine over-polished version of it would ruin the experience... i love the sense of decay and low resolution texture in it that makes it feel even more isolating and outdated.

Capcom needs to buy Konami to own the rights for Silent Hill and remake the two games like Resident Evil 2. That's not saying that specifically the second game needs any of that since it's a masterpiece that aged well, this sort of reinvention would be incredible to modern engines.

Silent Hill presents the audience something that's never been seen before, it can't be identified, thus the player can't relate to the monsters on screen. From the startup of the game, it guides you deeper into darkness, you can actually see the lighting slowly being rendered away as you enter the claustrophobic alleyway. By the time you make it to the grey children, they have a strategy of attacking Harry, that more horror games should take note of. There's only 3 of them, yet it seems like more... because 1 always stays behind. 2 will directly attack, forcing you to run past them when you're cornered, only to be stabbed by the 3rd. The game's AI is remarkable, they absolutely behave like predators. Doubly so in the hellish portion, they will not stop pursuing you, do not stop running.

Perhaps this in depth review of your doc is better suited for people who haven't actually played it?
I do hope Silent Hill will come back. I still love it and the 2 movies! RE broke them clearly but all they need to do is fight back! They had Norman but RE didn't!

They might suprise us all pretty soon with a beautiful remake.
I feel like that day is coming...
Trog, I have never played any Silent Hill game. I played the PS3 freebie of the PS1 original for about 15 minutes. So, I guess I'm not much of a fan. I was more of a Resident Evil fan.
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed your documentary on this game, both entertaining and informative.
A testament you should be proud of.
Perhaps this in depth review of your doc is better suited for people who haven't actually played it?
I do hope Silent Hill will come back. I still love it and the 2 movies! RE broke them clearly but all they need to do is fight back! They had Norman but RE didn't!
ah my disturbed childhood
this video is awesome and v well made but lowkey i wish you used more music from the original silent hill 1 ost instead of songs from the other games. but...that just a nitpick. other than that this was great 👍
Yeah, I essentially ended up agreeing with you. After this video I started using music from the specific games more instead of their respective franchises. It really was silly of me to go with music from the franchise tbh xD
@@VGDocs nahh it's okay tho! i still really loved it, i learned a lot from what you said about the launch + what team silent was goin thru when making it. i just love the original soundtrack lmao
