    The closer the Moon is to the horizon, the larger it looks. This phenomenon is called the Moon illusion. And most experts believe that the illusion is created by your own mind! The Moon's gravity is about 17% of that on Earth. If you weighed 200 pounds on our home planet, on the Moon, your weight would decrease to a mere 34 pounds. In prehistoric times, the Moon was way closer to our planet than it is now.
    Today, we're going to share the most interesting facts about the Moon with you. It might change your mind about the Moon's simplicity. Did you know, for example, that the Moon (along with our planet) went through a Late Heavy Bombardment about 4 billion years ago? This event is also known as the lunar cataclysm. This interval lasted several hundred million years. During it, an unusually large number of asteroids collided with Earth, Mercury, Mars, and Venus... So, it’s time to delve into the most interesting lunar facts.

    Bright side I have a question, Why is space so dark if there’s tons of bright stars?

    • @isoSw1fty
      @isoSw1fty 3 ปีที่แล้ว +139

      It is empty space. Nothing for the light from stars to reflect off of so we see them as they are millions of miles away and the empty space gives the illusion of being "dark" because of how vast it is. Like the ocean looks like a darker blue/green as you look down into it. Except the ocean is made of matter and empty space is relatively empty.

    There's a Second Moon-a Mini-Moon-in Earth's Orbit. Moons are common in our solar system. In simple terms, a moon is a natural satellite caught in a planet's orbit. Based on that definition, a second moon-a mini-moon-has been circling. 🎑🎑🎑🌕🌕🌕🌙🌙🌙🌚🌚🌚🌝🌝🌝👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩

    1:00 Actually when the moon is close to the horizon, there is a lot more atmosphere between it and our eyes, so the light of the moon gets much more defused when it reaches our eyes. Hence the moon looks largers, but dimmer, and depending on the environmental conditions, may have a yellow or even reddish tint to it.

    • @jayarm9258
      @jayarm9258 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know man kind of weird to think that would give it a magnification effect its not like the atmosphere is made of glass and it's pretty much invisible so I find it hard to believe that it's not really as close as it looks and actually be able to see it in more detail you'd think if it was being distorted by the atmosphere it would make the quality you see it in less and not more because if like you said it gets the magnification effect by there being more atmosphere for the light to go through it would definitely make it harder to see the details in the moon and it wouldn't end up looking 3 or 4 times bigger sometimes more than that even same with the sun

      because it is more important to learn about planets so that if anything would happen to the earth we still would have a chance of survival on planets like the moon or mars or earth like planets but the ocean would not be important in case of a emergency scenario.

    Is it true that some scientists/astronauts think that the moon is made out of some kind of hollow metal object orbiting the earth? When a discarded part of a space module was released and intentionally dropped on the surface, the astronauts, while still on the moon, felt it vibrated for several minutes like a huge bell.

This systems on an elliptical orbit in our solar system, and it’s now here, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. In answer to your question why your phone was able to catch it and your eyes weren’t, it’s because cameras can pick up frequencies that our eyes can’t see.
