I love Steve Howe and lots of respect for what he's accomplished - but I have to say, Jon has chosen wisely: the Band Geeks have the spirit and THIS is the new YES.
Jon and The Band Geeks are definitely the new YES….the one I have loved the most for for 40 years…I was lucky enough to see them at least 10 times, with Jon and Chris S being brilliant, with my very best mate Ian Julian, who introduced me properly to their music….Ian was tragically taken from us in 2011 (pancreatic cancer )….he was only 53…I think about him often, and treasure the moments we shared listening to Yes, with Jon’s angelic voice, defining a truly special place in my life…..I also discovered Richie Castellano whilst looking for help with my Helix, and what a gift that was discovering The Band Geeks, doing Yes music superbly…..to find that Jon Anderson has found The Band Geeks and is creating new music, as well as playing all the music that all Yes fans love…( The band geeks are all truly very talented…I’m almost speechless how good they are)….well, I’ve rattled on a bit….but truly, this collaboration truly is a magical and unexpected gift that I never thought I’d see….Jon, 75 years old, singing as great as ever, with a band I found on TH-cam that are truly incredible…..Thank you, from the bottom of my heart….Andy B, UK…
I love that YES music has become a style that excellent musicians can emulate in playing, writing, singing. I’ve been a super fan since 1973. Thank you YES.
I'd watched band geeks for quite a long time before Jon hooked up with them. They covered all manner of music from ABBA to ZzTop [I think].Quite brilliantly too, with Yes material covered authentically and expertly. When I first heard, they had hooked up. I knew for sure, it truly would be a marriage made in heaven .
Thank you for uploading this exciting new song! I can hear enough of the arrangement to enjoy the vibes and hear the basic structure. The murky acoustics in the venue and limitations of phone audio were challenging, I imagine.
It sounds like a rocking song, but I have to hear the studio version of it. The audio is a bit blaring, can't quite make out some of the stuff going on from this live version, but it does sound dynamic! I can't wait for this album/CD to come out! when is the release date for it? GO JON and BAND GEEKS!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!
It looks like August 23, 2024 is the release date of the new album blabbermouth.net/news/yes-legend-jon-anderson-and-the-band-geeks-to-release-true-album-in-august
It does sound like one hell of a tune. I agree that it is a bit hard to hear it clearly (Can’t wait for the studio release) but considering it was recorded from someone’s phone it’s understandable. They certainly play with a lot of energy.
Steve Howe has the right to play with whomever he wants but I’m sorry. Jon Anderson and the Geeks are a match made in Heaven. While the new material leans more toward 90125 era Yes, these guys more than hold their own with vintage Yes songs. Everyone has their own opinion and they’re entitled to it but personally I think Jon and Co. leave Steve/“Yes” in the dust.
YES Jon is back keep this band together making new Yes music Don’t like Steve and his ego trippers that go in the name of yes I have bought any of their material or seen them live since they sacked Jon due to ill health it all went against the spirit of Yes music Rock on Jon sock it to em 😊❤
The feel I get is definitely Yes esque. Jon s voice I guess. But I have heard Squire and Howe like phrasing in the piece. Strong keys too. I’d love more fidelity though.
This a poor recording from a cell phone in an acoustically obnoxious venue. Can't judge it properly from this but the song itself and the arrangement do indeed ring through.
You make a valid point, but Steve Howe is still one of the 2 or 3 best guitarists I've ever heard in person (first saw Yes circa 75/76) and, even though I prefer this "Yes" to Steve Howe's current version, I could never cast aspersions. I'm so grateful for what Steve Howe gave us when he was at the top of his game.
I’m not up on the legalities of who has rights to the name but Jon’s band has one original member and Steve’s has none. If people want to pay to hear lifeless performances of Yes songs at tempos that would put a sloth to sleep I certainly don’t begrudge them the opportunity. I saw Yes in the round in 79 and Howe was stellar but that was 45 years ago.
Sound quality from a cell phone in a venue that is not good acoustically but you can certainly hear the song structure, the major components of the arrangement, and the creativity/tightness of the playing. I can easily tell from this that the studio version is likely to be wonderful. You cannot expect every song to be a masterpiece but for me Jon comes close to accomplishing that frequently.
I love Steve Howe and lots of respect for what he's accomplished - but I have to say, Jon has chosen wisely: the Band Geeks have the spirit and THIS is the new YES.
Steve literally chose not to choose Jon for the last 15+ years. His loss.
@@RadagastBrown420 Agreed - I realize he and Chris were upset but come on, Steve!
Stimme absolut zu, mit einem kleinen Unterschied, das die Howe Coverband die sich leider auch noch YES nennen darf nur noch peinlich ist 😢😢😢

The finest YES music in years! The album is phenomenal!!!
Saw them in MA, absolutely wonderful, they played 2/3 of close to the edge too
It's progressive Rock , with Jon Anderson. Nothing is better🎉❤
It's progressive but it's also psychedelic hippie music 🎵🎶!
Thanks for bringing back that Yes feeling ❤💋
❤❤❤
Most exciting YES lineup since the seventies Rock on Jon amazing stuff can’t wait for the album 😊🙏
I can't believe it, love it , love it , love it.
Can't wait to hear the studio version of this. Just heard Shine On for the first time and it's great too.
I love that YES music has become a style that excellent musicians can emulate in playing, writing, singing. I’ve been a super fan since 1973. Thank you YES.
Jon Anderson has been the catalyst for so many great moments in my life, thank you Jon Anderson & Band Geeks!
Man! This has the VIBE! Wonderful!!
That is a great song!

Yes, yes, yes 👍 Thank you Jon and Band Geeks for carrying the torch of progressive rock 🙏 More power and love to you all💪🫶
This is VERY YES. Period.
Powerful. A great mix of dynamic 70s-style progressive arrangement and 80s technical power-ROCK.
and 70s jazz fusion ala Corea or Maha
WOW Best new YES music since Magnification
Let's hope the new album sounds good. Since "keys to ascention" there hasn't been a good sounding yes album
@@ejc8017 Agree
Magnification is so underrated it love it imo this is the best since Magnification
It's a great song.
In A Word > YES!! 🎼
Jon Anderson's YES !!!
Look forward to hearing more from their upcoming release. If his is any indication…….Wow!
if this*
Thanks for sharing
Get ye to Europe lads! 🙏🏻💕
Jon was there last summer.
It’s absolutely awesome.
Excellent. Happy Yes got back together.
Very Relayer-esque looking fwd to tomorrow big time.
I hear a lot of Kansas and 90125 - very cool, no matter what it sounds like
maybe a little Talk, too
yep, one of the synths used throughout the song reminds me so much of moraz
@@tenebr1sm I saw keyboardist Chris Clark play with John Goodsall and Brand X, he's very much like Moraz.
Jon and the Geeks could play nursery rhymes and it would be amazing.
They have an awful lot of great songs to choose from!
@@RadagastBrown420And THEIR NEW STUFF TOO ❤❤
a little city of love at the end. tasty track. i will buy this album..
Great song! album ordered 🤩
Right there with you. Ordered mine the other night.
Nice!
thanks!
ᏩᏙ for sharing this! New Yes Music is always welcome in my world, even if it isn't the classic Yes.
This combination of talent is the closest thing to 'YES' since Magnification, even though Jon has come close several other times.
Thank you for uploading this exciting new song! I can hear enough of the arrangement to enjoy the vibes and hear the basic structure. The murky acoustics in the venue and limitations of phone audio were challenging, I imagine.
❤
Majestic. Truly stunning. Some really well-done original music performed by masters of their craft. I cannot wait for Patchogue. 🤯
Sounds good ! 👌🏻 😊

Think Jon said it’s out on 9th of September.

Did it make Steve get angry at some more of his audience? lol
Here to say, I actually thought the thumbnail shot was some really good fanart
Steve Howe wishes he could still play that well.
Andy put that in supershred mode. He is a monster player thought I hear Al DiMeola

I'm looking forward to seeing Jon in four days, but I feel bad for the guy holding the bass guitar.
What? 😂 Why? Richie is amazing and IS the reason you got to see them!
@@jackthefunshack8618 Well Jon did tell that story and I agree they're very good. Glad I went. I'm just an old Squire fan, is all.
@@lizcenterfield1963So is Richie. So are we all. I would bet that Chris is a Richie fan.
make an onion out of the geeks and Yes. steve could use the help at this point. let's put the band band back together!

Babies are born with birth defects, good people die young, an idiot got elected as president, but Jon did and always will write great music!
señor Howe esto es Yes no el proyecto paralelo suyo con los Ex Asia
