Looks great. Much cleaner than expected. Now about the front, that could use some work. Change the red light to a white light. Turn the tire around and suck it closer to the front. Add a small “hub” to rest the assembly on while you tighten the bolts. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

A front receiver with a cargo basket up front is a very common thing for truck camper owners. I've seen them put a generator, cargo box and/or firewood in the basket. A lot of truck camper owners are "anti-trailer". For me, A cargo basket up front is a no-go because I haul my junk in a 7x12 cargo trailer.
i have always thought that having a spare tire hanging off any vehicle, front or back(including trailers) was just plain ugly. jeeps are notorious for this
I hate to say it JD, but that just plain looks goofy! That angle is just way too severe, I have never seen a tire carrier tilted in such a way… if you plan on keeping it I agree that your neighbor needs to redesign it to a much shallower angle. The tire should fit much closer to the front if the angle wasn’t there
I installed a receiver on the front of my half-ton truck. I use it like a motorized trailer dolly to park my travel trailer beside my garage by pushing it into place. I can see where the trailer is in relation to the garage roof, and I have a spotter with a two-way radio to watch the fence. It is so much easier to park the trailer as opposed to backing it with mirrors. It has eliminated a lot of frustration. That is the only thing that I use the front hitch for, and we push the trailer only about 75 feet. My friend uses the same setup to park his pontoon boat in his garage.
I hate to be stupid but could Mercedes do a permanent under mount for the spare tire?

It does look kinda funny. Storing a spare on the roof is also an option.
Looks better than trucks low in the back high in the front, looks better than any vehicle with little rubber and huge rims.
I'd have a fabricator build an adaptor to allow the wheel assembly to be reversed and truck the tire back to the grill,you can also straighten the angle at the same time
Yeah that’s wouldn’t work for me either. If your friend will build it I’d ask he’d go ahead and make it to fit the 3 lugs

Would love to have an option to mount a tire on the roof of the RV. Since it’s very rare to actually need it, and since there’s an AC there anyhow (so would not add any height), it might be a great option (assuming tire is covered so won’t have sun damage)
Lower the bracket 4-6” closer to the ground. Add an adapter plate with three bolts. A good welding shop could custom make the adapter tire mount for you.
Lowering the tire would open up more air flow.
It does look a little odd but the longer I look at it it grows on me.
I think the look would grow on me, but only with the trailer attached to balance the profile appearance. Heck, if nothing else it sure looks like to would be great protection for deer running across the road! 😂
I was recently looking for a rear hitch tire holder so I could relocate my camper tire from underneath, but all I could find were the angled ones, and I don't think it'd work very well on my little camper.
I think a tire on the front is just odd looking.
What about your third brake light?

Sometimes I've wanted a front receiver on my truck. It would be useful for trailer maneuvering.
to be honest it looks like that tire mount is bent wrong. Check out some of the other ones, such as by Reese - they look a lot better.

If you don’t take the tire mount off the rear it looks to me like it will partially obscure the license plate. That will get you pulled over in a lot of states. You know the license plate frames that the dealer puts on so you can do free advertising for them? One of those got me pulled over in Florida. I could either remove it immediately or get a defect ticket. Out came the screwdriver!

Rv with a big nose lol. Have your buddy weld a hitch tube to the swing arm, well removing the swing part.
While it looks a little funny, I think it’ll give more aerodynamics as well as airflow into the radiator instead of completely being flat up and down up against the front. I’d say leave it for now and try it. You can always put it back and not use it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
I would just see if someone could reweld the mounting plate straight up and down

We were driving down the I95 and someone was pulling a car about the size of a Honda Civic down the road. It shocked me that they would put that much stress on the engine and the transmission. Is there a weight limit on what should be towed by a sprinter?
I think it's 5000lb.

No, that wouldn't work for me. It sticks out too much and it would be hard to judge where the lower front of the tire is when parking to avoid the tire hitting something in some cases perhaps.
Also it looks like it's blocking the driver side headlight's forward shine some what because it doesn't seem to be intended to hold the "Deep Dish" of a Dually wheel especially with the Mercedes 6 bolt wide pattern VS the 8 lug patterns of other Dually vehicles. Good idea though. 💡 👍🇺🇸

I love your content but to be honest I think your dad got a way smaller rv that he needed because of him having to tow an rv with his rv thats to much and it looks horrible I would get a bigger rv that he can sleep in it and just tow a small car behind it

I would put this on the back if a spare tire was being halled that's just me nothing wrong with having one on the front as long as he can still open and hood when he needs to nothing to worry about
